    One important note on grind size: Grind can vary a lot depending on the recipe you are using, the temperature of the brew, the water you use, and especially the specific coffee you are brewing with. Rather than trying to identify a specific "good" grind size, I would recommend choosing a recipe, coffee, water, and temperature; and then only change the grind size until you find the size that produces the best cup. From there, feel free to vary other things but be warned that changing too many variables over one bag of coffee can get confusing and make it seem like you're constantly chasing the perfect cup. So focus on dialing in grind size to taste, that is the most important independent variable that you should change regularly

      Great point! Grind size is indeed a crucial variable in coffee brewing, and as you rightly mentioned, it can vary based on several factors. Finding the perfect grind size for your preferred recipe, coffee, water, and temperature is key to achieving that ideal cup. It's all about dialing in the grind to suit your taste preferences. Thanks for sharing this valuable insight!

    for the water part, usually I use mineral water due to accessibilty and it's cost-effective. I could've distilled my tap water one day ahead but it's too much work to do. i don't know. i'm not running a coffee shop just a hobbist or a home brewer.
    but over-all, the video is very constructive and informative as you always do. keep it up.

    Is manual pour over better than electric drip coffee makers?

    • @MrTsaoo
      @MrTsaoo  5 місяців тому

      It depends on personal preference. Manual pour-over offers control, while electric drip machines offer convenience.
      I personally prefer manually!

    Hi Michael, I enjoyed the video but have a question. I bought a Kruve coffee sifter which allows me to separate out my grind into perfectly uniform 500 micron grounds. Do you think this is ridiculous overkill? It seems like any grinder I use (cheap or expensive) has wildly varied grind size so it makes sense to me to sift it. I'd appreciate your take on this.

      Hi there! Thanks for watching and sharing your thoughts! Actually, using a sifter isn't too much at all. It's true that different grinders produce varying grind sizes, and sifting can help ensure consistency. Different grades of grinders affect the fines in ground coffee. I'll be discussing this in another video soon. Stay tuned!"

      @@MrTsaoo I'm setting aside 40% of every grind because it's either too fine or too coarse ... I don't throw it out of course, but it would be nice if I had a grinder that produced a more consistent grind.
