Now I will be buying bleached filters. I preheat so that coffee stays hot longer.
I bought this Hario. I don't have my grinder yet so using Folger for now. It's great but I am used to at least 1 more ounce in my cup. Overall, a great choice.
Ceramic and heat retention? I think not.
i just rinse the paper to heat up and "clean" the karaf. like i always put the v60 with filter on top of it when i put the water to boil and start to grind the coffee
Such a good video. Very straightforward no time wasting like other coffee youtubers. 👍
Glad you liked it!
Which V60 are you using in these tests? Is it the ceramic or white plastic version?
Ceramic!
You stopped posting ?
great video. easy recipe. I like the flexibility of the switch, I'll have to buy one! thank you!
I think its wrong text recipe in 03:43
I think driper must hot before use! Should i alway make it hot.
Using your method with my current Java Planet Guatemala Organic medium roasted beans, I find I get a better cup of coffee than just using a bloom pour-through stage and then immersion. Thank you. I've learned that water temperature is more important than I previously realized. As you suggest, I think 92-93 degrees is usually about right for my medium roasted beans. For most dark roasted beans I need to go even lower to avoid excessive bitterness.
love my hario switch v60 maximizing the full potential of every coffee beans by utilizing its dual brewing method. and im not suggesting this for the beginners for it needs a lot of tools and attention to details to be able to use it properly.
Lately I have been using the copper plated Kalita Wave for the most part and have been enjoying medium roasts more than dark roasts with it. I also have the ceramic 155 Wave. I think it gives better results but I like to brew more coffee than that. All that said, I am probably going to go back to French Press as I can make a lot of coffee and get, in my opinion, better results.
I think it is helpful the way you finished with "what not to do" examples.
he saves lives
And reduces the coffee beans suppliers market
Nice will have to try this recipe! I've been doing the opposite, holding the water on the first pour to bring out more flavors and using cooler water on the last pour.
I stopped rinsing, but I also only use a Clever Dripper with Cafec Abaca filters. If I were doing pourover still, I'd probably just rinse to help it adhere to the dripper.
U like it dirty, don't ya?
Kidding. Thanks for the video!
I've been doing pour over for about two months now and am looking to upgrade to a better dripper. With your help I've leaning toward a Kalita. You recommend the stainless steel over the ceramic. Is that mostly for durability? Once I get my skill level maximized will both drippers produce the same tasting coffee? Thanks for your videos, they have been a great help! I'm a new subscriber, please keep making more coffee videos!
Thanks! If you want the keep the water temperature then you could choose the ceramic one!
@@MrTsaoo Thanks so much, that helps in my decision!
I ended up finding really good deals on the Kalita ceramic wave and the brass Kalita wave. The heat retention difference is quite pronounced, just like you said. I like the coffee that I'm getting from both brewers but I think the ceramic Wave yields smoother, richer coffee. Thanks again for your help!
So much emphasis on the crema for my taste.
do you think Timemore Chestnut C3 is a decent grinder. or you think I should upgrade it to something fancier?
I think it is fine for me, my first grinder is C2 and I still keep that.
I have the almost same set up like you do. I have a small goose kettle like yours. Contains roughly around 250-300g water haha. I pay attention to the size of the kettle so I can eye balling my water some times
for the water part, usually I use mineral water due to accessibilty and it's cost-effective. I could've distilled my tap water one day ahead but it's too much work to do. i don't know. i'm not running a coffee shop just a hobbist or a home brewer. but over-all, the video is very constructive and informative as you always do. keep it up.
Thanks bro!
very informative. that's all i can say.
Thanks bro!
Still waiting for someone to compare outin nano with wacaco picopresso. Right now it’s a bit of an issue where people compare the most expensive outin with middle range wacaco.
i like how you structure your video and ties the mistakes with your explaination. now i can tell what went wrong via visual cues of coffee bed.
Espresso , not expresso)) 9:14
My bad
Loved this video. Subscribed ❤
Yay! Thank you!
There is Basket Plus option for OutIn Nano which allows you to make espresso 16-18g. I got it and it's super good, you should try it out as well!
Portable machines seem convenient 😮
True!
Just need a portable machine for summer camp, thanks for the video!
Thanks!
I’ll def go for the electronic one lol
I believe ceramic is a better conductor of heat than plastic and therefore not retain heat as well as a plastic dripper, although I'm pretty dumb so i could very well be wrong. Also i personally don't like using plastic with boiling water so I would still use the ceramic one.
Good Point!
Oh Dude get real. It's not rocket science. In a blind taste test nobody if going to tell the difference .
Taste can be very subjective, and what might seem indistinguishable to one person could be quite distinct to another. It's not about rocket science, but rather about personal preference and individual sensitivity to flavors. Plus, a lot of the enjoyment comes from the overall experience and the context in which something is tasted.
I stir within the paper filter on my Technivorm Moccamaster. The arm that extends over the grinds is in the middle over the basket. Supposedly, it is a good idea to stir the grinds with the water. The manufacturer feels that this is not necessary, but I find it hard to believe that this exercise does not help with the saturation of all of the coffee grinds.
you don't have to use so many jump cuts mate lol
Sorry about that, need to be more fluent. lol
@@MrTsaoo Haha you're fine bro have faith in yourself
Have you ever tried the hario switch or a similar brewer? If you like a slower flow rate/longer brew then i think you'd love the switch with it's added immersion at the beginning 😁
yap! I have another video was introducing the Hario Switch! I love that one!
Man, this explanation surprised me, the facts are opposite to what I understood from my common sense about light and dark roasts, I tried a bit longer bloom time with darker roasted coffees and the flavor and sweetness are in the cup now =D, in the past I always used less time with dark roasts, thank you for this excellent lesson.
Great to hear you like it! Enjoy your brewing!
The stagg and Kalita have these rippled filter paper which traps coffee grains and is quite a pain not like the smooth sided filter papers ie; V60 whereby you can wash all the coffee granules to the middle and take advantage of a full extraction
I have one, don't use it much at the moment, but the catch cup is on my coffee counter all the time, as well as the funnel that comes with it. I have even bought an extra funnel to load my 1Zpresso hand grinder for traveling.
Try a hemp, or hemp/cotton blend filter. They're VERY fast and you can grind much finer & maintain a fast draw-down. I want my coffee grounds to control flow, not the filter medium, nor the dripper. I've been using this type of filter for years and they yield a very flavourful cup with increased mouth feel. No problems with sediment in the cup either. Brew more.
Sounds interesting! Would like to try that in the future!
I have seen people drill the holes out in the stagg to increase the flow!
Yap! That's a way!
I like to use V60 more often
Me as well lol
Great content!
Thanks!
I love Kalita Wave
Great to know that!
Thanks for making this video!
My pleasure!
I just got the same grinder. What grind size are using for your pour overs?
Cool! I regularly using something around medium grind size.
i prefer melitta i dont like to mutch acidity
Great!
Hi sir, as you guys roast coffee ,please let me know how can I flavored coffee beans at home ? What kind of equipment do i need ? Thank you .
I am not really sure actually, but I prefer original coffee!
Man, this is the video I needed! 9:05 that's exactly how I pour. Thank you for this video, I will certainly apply your advice for improving that first pour for the blooming.
You are so welcome! Hope you have a great result!
