In episode 20 of our foxing series with Mark Ripley (260RIPS) on S&C TV, Mark tries his luck on some fallow deer, before once again clipping on the HIK MICRO Cheetah NV add-on to his Element Optics scope and continuing after dark... hunting now, of course, for foxes.
Despite every effort, even the best of us sometimes get it slightly wrong, and find ourselves following up on a running fox, rather than picking up a carcass. What looks and sounds like a great shot turns out to be slightly off in this episode, and Mark takes the opportunity to offer a step-by-step guide to following up a blood trail in the dark. Enjoy this short but sweet episode of foxing with 260 RIPS!

It might be sparse in quarry but anytime you’re out it’s worth watching in my book
Fantastic shooting my friend 😍👍❤️🇬🇧🇬🇧
That was interesting to watch, enjoyable video too. You don't need large numbers of foxes down to make the content attractive for viewers, although the Farmer might think differently LOL.
Thanks for this one again, Mark.
Jesus that scope set up is massive😂
It doesn’t help having a camera mounted on the rear! The nv add on is actually pretty compact and does have a pretty decent built in ir although I was using an aftermarket one here!
Nice shooting Mark. Top notch video as usual.
Great vid as always....
Hi Mark.
It has been a while since your last video, I was anxiously waiting for a new one, especially since lambing season must have started.
Good to see you droped the fox, they are tough little animals and some times they run off after a hit like a wild boar.
Love to see more from you oh and some long range tips are also welcome 😉
Nice video mate
Looking forward to daylight footage through that new element helix hdlr hunting scope
Legend
Legend 👌
Nice work. I wish my Thunder 35c slid on that easy and was accurate. Couldn't be happier with it as a scope just about given up on it a viable option as a clip on even with a Rusan addapter. Any clues ?
Oh really?! 🤔 I’ve not had an awful lot of use with the thunder, what’s the problem with it? An accuracy issue or pic quality?
I'd like to get into this hobby myself but what's the difference. At 3:00, if you can hunt foxes at night, why would you not hunt reindeers at night? It be interesting to know the difference if there's one. I love your footages, and I hope you do more in the future to bring joy to other viewers watching them.
👌
Anyone know what trousers Mark was rocking?? Look well made!!
What ballistic tipped ammunition were you using in the .243?
It’s 75 grain norma I believe it was or possibly 75 grain Remingtons, both shoot pretty well in the Mauser 👍
Hi mark what do you recommend for n v
Oo blimey that’s really hard to say at the moment! Probably the HikMicro Alpex or sightmark wraith would be my my favourites
Okay thanks for your reply
Why is it illegal to shoot dear at night? Always wondered
I think it’s mostly due to causing unnecessary stress to them by hunting them constantly. It could also be an old law when nv and thermal were not around therefore raising safety concerns and following up on wounded animals perhaps?
Can’t say for certain, but my understanding is there are at least two possibly more reasons.
1. Less sporting, deer feed and move through the night more than in daylight.
2. Probably more so, you cannot see what is beyond your target, so safety concerns, and to shine a light makes the deer freeze and stare at the light. Again not sporting. Maybe someone else has something to add?
Your needed in Ukraine fella....👍
It's Guy Stainthorp, rather than Gary.
I know! 🤦🏻♂️ sorry about that - I had just been talking to a mate (Gary) just before filming that so slip of the tongue! Derr! Need to get more sleep I think 🥴!
