Here’s a great nugget: TC based his accent on his mother who was from Romania. Carol Burnette’s character was based on TC’s experience with his own assistant when he was working at CBS on this very show.

I remember watching this with my parents. It didn't matter how young or old you were, you always got the humor watching the Carol Burnett Show. Some of the Family sketches seem a lot more real to me as I grew up and experienced life, but I wish families could still experience what us older folks experienced back before hundreds of channels, the internet, and cell phones.

I consider myself blessed , growing up and experiencing the greatest eras of of televison ever. the Carol Burnett show being one of the funniest. Bring back many happy memories. Thank God almighty, for youtube--a visual memory lane for all to enjoy and share.

I used to watch this with my parents EVERY WEEK. My dad would cry bc he laughed so much. he loved Conway and Harvey. I have such great memories of that time of young life.

A lot of the dialogue, especially Tim's, was ad libbed. The cast never knew what Tim was gonna say. He was always trying to get them to break character and start laughing.

holdenrh when u tail gate someone it means u drive too closely behind another moving vehicle because that vehicle is going really slow so you have to slow down to avoid hitting them and are forced to drive the same speed as them. If she can tailgate herself it means she was going so slow, she could slow herself down (if there were two of her). It’s just a very creative way of telling her she’s slow as fuck. Lol

I watched this show every Saturday night as a child and teen, every year it was on.My parents and brothers also watched it and we laughed our heads off.All of it was hilarious, but I favored the parodies of movies and TV ads and the parody of The Waltons...called The Walnuts.As the Stomach Turns was also exceptional.The cast and writers were pure comedic geniuses.

Tim Conway and Harvey Korman were the best and Tim Conway was Soo hilarious that Harvey could never keep a straight face as this was LIVE TELEVISION so there was no reshoots and Harvey laughing and watching him trying to not laugh was the funniest thing ever, especially during the dentist skit and when Tim Conway would play the old man skits LMAO 😂🤣🤣

I worked the nightshift at a mental health hospital. The highlight of the long night was when the Carol Burnet Show aired at 4:30 am. It was sooo good after a dry work night. Tim you were the best! Great commedy. What a gang! I'm sure you'll make them laugh in heaven.

This was my Favorite show growing up...I'M EATING POPCORN I'M ALMOST SPIT IT OUT THIS WAS TOO FUNNY...NOW I KNOW EVEN AS A KID WHY I WAS CRACKING UP!
Notice how he stuck out his butt, imitating her, when he walked out for the last time! Carol wrote that she developed that posture when she first tried on the costume which had just been made for the character. Originally she'd been thinking of "Mrs. Ah-whiggins" as an old woman, but when she put on the tight skirt, the stance and the character all suddenly came together.
Actually, the story from Ms. Burnett is this: she was working with her costumer, Bob Mackey, on the skirt. She noticed that it was a bit saggy in the seat and wanted it taken in. But Mackey, rather than take it in, told Ms. Burnett to stick her butt into the seat of the skirt. And Mrs.Wiggins and her signature walk were born.

I also heard her say Bob Mackie (designer) presented the outfit to Carol Burnet and she tried it on and it was too big “in the back”, he then said “It won’t be when you stick the back out”. LOL
Mr. Tudball's hair is half of what makes this skit. I've loved Tim since I was a child and so saddened by his passing recently.

Mr. Tudball was one of Tim's funniest roles on this show. This show is a classic. Glad I got to watch it new every year. It was hilarious. For us in kansas, it was on Saturday night at 9pm, and lasted an hour. MeTV cuts it in half.
I have alot of tv sitcom dvd's from 50's-60's that are 27 and 57 minutes long. In 2022 sitcoms dramas etc are 20 and 50. Started watching first season of The Waltons again after a couple years so obvious there are literally commercials every 4 mins of the show. Thank goodness purchased several tv and movie dvd's in the '90's early 2000's. Gonna give up on the cable channels.
