    Good video. The carburetor was invented long before Karl Benz began using it (even before he was born!).

    yep, thats pretty much the gist of the advancement, knock is no longer an issue. the true potential of this innovation will be seen through blown engines though, in NA sure you could up the compression ratio, but with a turbo you would really be letting the turbo do what it does best

    Bad thing about GDI is that now cars have to be serviced more frequently to have the valves cleaned out due to carbon build up.

    If the GDI systems on cars today are dumping the fuel at the beginning of the compression stroke, then there is effectively NO difference between GDI and Direct Port Injection. However, if they supply fuel like a diesel near the top of the compression stroke, then you can gain higher compression ratios as pre-detonation becomes a non-issue. There is no reason why we shouldn't be able to run 20:1 compression ratios on gasoline with direct injection. Currently, they are ~ 13:1, or 1969 levels.

    Better buy diesel then GDI
