It's just a great idea.
Vario is really focused on design and they tackle the side of the market that is still opened : while we'll never run out of divers, a reverso is such a strong concept, many people can get attracted to it, there's market for that. I think it's very elegant despite the thickness. Could be one side for the summer time, one for winter time, or work and chill time as you said, it's all about the fun and enjoyment :)
Rectangular Watches are always Classy!
Got one concern though. When chaninging the batteries, you need to unscrew 4 on the front. Wonder if it's a standard spectacles screwdriver or you need a special one to unscrew the case when changing the batteries.
Tim, I really enjoyed your musical performance and the inclusion of the granddaughter/grandfather watch picture. Your UA-cam channel has a refreshingly different feel from other reviewers.

Interesting take on a reverso. I guess needing to put two movements was always going to force a certain thickness. Edit: that said, this looks really really good.

Ivan just made a genius move! I already own a Vario 1918 trench and can't be more happy, solid, perfectly refined, and best thing of all, something that you cannot find anywhere else. With the Versa i'm 100% confident it will be the same, a solid, unique and refined piece, i really hope they will remain available long enough, i would love to get one some day. Also, the straps are actually great for what you pay them! I work with leather, and mostly make straps, often for luxury watches. Besides NATO, i exclusevly use my own straps, besides Vario's bund strap! It's literally the only leather strap i use besides the ones i make myself, as it's well refined and very soft, so sometimes when i switch straps i find myself using it

I love the proportions, the quartz movement not so much. I'd love it if they made it handwound, still reversible, with perhaps a clever engraved caseback.
Of course, the music makes it all worthwhile!
I feel as though making it mechanical would have driven up the price due to increased manifacturing costs? Atleast if the very wide price differences between mechanical and quartz offerings of the same watch by some brands is any indicator.
The watch would result thicker and way more expensive. I like mechanicals but i'm all right with something classy and so versatile.
Went in for a hands on. It's nice but ironically more expensive to get it here in Singapore. One thing I would be concerned is the changing of batteries. You need to be careful about accidentally scratching the case. Otherwise it's nice and classy. I'm wondering if I should get it becauee the stock I saw wasn't very new.

I had been looking for a suitable Reverso/Tank alternative for a while now and this watch is it. Love the dials and especially the enamel side. Beautiful rendition of this classic song that makes all us middle-aged men go all gooey and feel like it was written about us (like 'my way' but infinately better).
the Vario was the most interesting you've had on for ages; wearing on the wrist rather than the wrist bone will hopefully hide some of its thickness.

I bought a Vario a couple of years ago - a very simple salmon sector dial that's a very elegant bargain for its price though these have all been sold out. I believe they're a Singapore company.
I agree totally that your strap really adds to the look of the watch. I like the white dial but not the blue so much, so not one for me.
Tried on the JLC duoface reverso in stainless and gold.Absolutely beautiful but the stainless at $16000aud and gold at $34000 aud.I,m liking the Vario!
Outstanding development in a world saturated with large divers large divers large divers. I like the style and sizes and i believe that the water resistance and quartz movement(s) without seconds hand(s) are good, realistic decisions for a daily-dress piece. The price seems right too. Checked the watch out in Singapore, and ironically overseas purchase is better than local. We have 9 percent GST on top of the $579 retail price. There's a discount of 8 percent, but we still pay more as you also have free shipping and some may have a discount from links on UA-cam. I'm envious. Not really fair for locals...
I'm all in favor of Vario. After almost two years, their trench watch 37 is still one if my most regularly worn pieces. A bit bummed about the height of the Versa, but then again: it houses two independently operating movements, so no hard feelings there. Fantastic offering. It's the same as with Lorier: I don't think Vario is even able to offer lackluster watches.
Cool tune, expertly played. Watch looks nice on that strap but is a bit too chunky for me.

Like your review and enthusiasm for this watch and the brand. For me, however, I'm not sure if I even get the whole Reverso argument unless perhaps both sides offer something very different in purpose. So, I have to conclude, probably the genre doesn't suit me, but I keep being intrigued by rectangular case shapes, perhaps because my first (as a boy) watch was rectangular and very classic. I wore it for many years and now I only have round dials. One thing that holds me back is that I find most rectangular cases end up looking too chunky and too high on the wrist. This is in fact no exception, for logical reasons. Round watches can suffer the same, especially when they have very flat sides.

The duoface is now 14,000 dollars, and I am talking about the basic one. I am glad Verio didn't really follow that model, because this watch is a completely different thing, starting with the quartz movement. Nice watch, but i would not call it the Reverso for the poor. It is simply a Vario Janus.
I have the first Vario ever made as an earlybird I could just afford it (in its quartz variant),can't afford one now (blew most of my cash on guitars).September song a lovely tune and a good arrangement played extremely well.......................................

Nice watch. Saw it already on Varios Insta account. It looks quite thick to pass for a dress watch. Maybe it would have looked more dressy with one movement only.

I think they could do a reversing ,thinner, 1 mvmnt case with an offer to custom engrave the back side. Vario offers some engraving for the Trench case backs(optional). I have a Trench but will wait for further iterations of the Versa...as Ivan has intimated on IG.

I like the idea but the dials need more contrasting character to me. Would love a night oriented w lume and day oriented. Also the fact you can't switch dials without taking it off is a let down.

OK, I don't need another watch. I certainly don't need another dress watch. I definitely don't need two new dress watches. But unfortunately I'd had trouble not admiring the Vario Versa and the Lorier Zephyr . So, hypothetically, if I were going to get one more watch this Christmas for which should I ask? From the pictures I think I'm more intrigued by the Zephyr , but this one also looks very interesting.

Nice watch, if you like a homage to the JLC Reverso but can't afford a JLC. Another watch brand that makes a great homage to the JLC Reverso but has a mechanical movement just like JLC is Rotary. Unfortunately, Rotary no longer makes this watch in a mechanical version only quartz and the mechinical on the preowned market is extremely hard to find.

50 metres water resistance is ok. I thought it was a 30m WR. You'd never go swimming with this on, but for getting caught in a shower of rain, it's good enough.
These are HIGHLY limited; blue is already sold-out. Also (from Vario's site) "...it may take us up to 2 month+ to deliver to you". Finally, they are limited to 100 pieces per color. Paying 400+ for a quartz watch, even such a special one, is not my thing. Too bad 😕

Good vid Tim but Vario is just another homage? company to me as are most of these Chinese made watches.....not much originality in their work in regards to design apart from copying and marketing to the european buyers.
