I got it used to clone it on my HX Stomp. It is very good. It’s the real thing. Now my Stomp sounds the exact same, I run it in the front of my clean JCM, BUT it was A LOT of tweaking over several days, taking breaks and getting it closer incrementally. The IR-X is totally worth if you prefer analog/ knobs, simplicity, instant professional tone.

Then i can leave my trusty 100w Marshall head at home when doing gigs where we have to travel. I have been looking at other brands before like Victory's Sheriff amp pedal but this is sooo much better!
Friedman IR-X Definitely a keeper Rack guys out there this is a nice preamp I’ve been using mine through a Marshall 9005 50+50 already a beast really like it paired with the amp Also sounds good running into the FX-return of you favorite amplifier really does simplify things and gives you another amp to play with essentially keeper 🤘
I really love my IR-X. There are many great amp sims and plugins these days but the IR-X does something for me that they don't. I have to put some reverb/room sound from my interface though since the sound is totally dry from it.
I run a Marshall DSL100HR with a 4 cable method. Can this be put into the effect loop like I run my pedals through the effects loop going send and return style? I would like to run it with my Marshal 2X12 cabinet live. Right now I use a Mooer012 Pre Amp pedal that runs with other effects like my delay EQ pedal and reverb. etc... but this pre amp you have has the AX7 tubes. Would that damage my amplifier?
This seems perfect for live gigs where you never know how the room will sound and need to quickly adjust on-the-fly. How was the latency and overall "feel" of the preamp?

It’s a great preamp. I’m using all Music Man Axis guitars. The sunburst one was custom built for me about 20 years ago. It’s an Axis Super Sport. The bridge pickup is a DiMarzio DLX Plus, whilst the neck is a Music Man P90. The amber guitar is a limited run BFR Axis call the “Double Trouble”. The black Axis n the demo is a one of a kind. Music Man built me that for my 20th year with them.

Cheers for the video! How do you find the response when you dig into the guitar vs when you play more gently? Have you tried it in the FX loop of an amp and if so how did you find it? Sorry for all the questions!
No worries. I’ve been using it a lot for my session commissions and just completed a big job with it. Felt great and sounded great, very dynamic. Ive not tried it in the loop of an amp yet.
I run this 4cm with an H90, video coming. I add the effects post fx after IRX so I go stereo from the H90 to the mixer. That way you add stereo delay, reverb, modulation after the IR’s.
Mine is going back. It's not what is being presented here. In the tracks there is a heap load of extra processing going on. I have been waiting for it for many weeks so it is quite a disappointment.
Hi there.. there hardly any processing in my video. The rhythm parts are simply double tracked. I added some delay and room ambience and the clean section had some chorus on. I always make a point in my demos of putting the product into a production style piece, whilst the isolated tracks during the demo is play have a little reverb.
@@SixStringAlliance My unit doesn’t sound anywhere near what i heard on your channel. In fact, my Strymon Riverside sounds a lot better and much closer to your output. Tried each and every setup possible.
@@Check-it-out Have you listened to the demo tones where it's isolated? when I'm demoing the unit later in the video thats just aa single track with bit of reverb. Maybe yours is faulty. I have been using it for loads of projects, just did big project on the Gibson app and used it there and am bout to shoot an Eventide video and use it there. Some of the IR's in the unit sound better than others, maybe try some of the others it comes with.

It doesn’t have IR’s is what I said. Yes it has an analogue cab sim, but you only get one choice. It’s either on or off.i have both the guitar and bass versions in my studio as I work with Two notes a lot. I demo’d both the bass and guitar versions here on the channel, and Two notes asked me to pair it with Cab M so I could use DynIR’s. My point in this demo is, yes Revolt is great but you have to pair it with an IR loader where as IR-X has onboard IR’s. The Revolt onboard cab sim is a filter based cab sim much like the old Palmer, so it isn’t as dynamic as an IR.
I know, but my point was that this unit has IR’s so you don’t need another unit to use IR’s, which has been the down side of the Revolt. Of course it has the cab sim, but if you want IR’s with it you have to add a second unit. That was my point.
That unit isn’t even in the same ball park in terms of what they both are. This is a valve two channel preamp, essentially the front end of two different Friedman amps, with IR capabilities. It’s not a modeller with multi effects.
I got the irx when it released. One of the best pedals /preamps ever. Highly useable

You can run it into your Marshall effects return, so effectively you’ll only use the power amp stage of your Marshall but the preamp of the Friedman.

If I’m running this in 4cm with a modeling unit, in this case my Helix Floor, should I run to the mixer from the IRX or Floor?

All correct, but there is a grab and go solution built into it which was my point. You don’t HAVE to bring an IR loader if you don’t want to.
