Just now learning about these axles. recently got an 08 rubicon unlimited. Anyone here using these axles and have feedback?

I'm running these axles in my '10 Rubicon Unlimited with a 4.5" lift and 37" tires now for 13 years. Some rock crawling & muddin' but mostly highway driving. No issues with these axles themselves except plan on replacing those orange cover boots when they crack from degradation.

The Dana 44 has a larger diameter at the pinion gear providing more torque. JKs come stock with 44's in the rear and 30s in the front unless you have a 44 put on the front.

How much would it cost to install D44's to a sport jk?

Is there a reason why that boot only comes in orange? Personally I'd like a black one.

How do you take the damn thing off? We are stuff and can’t remove them to switch the knuckles.

There is no clearancing required on the JK platforms.

Would I like to know if I'm running a Dana 44 and I wanna run 40" tires with the RCV hold up

Depending on what you want to do with your jeep running 40" on a stock Dana 44 would be pushing it. If you stay on pavement you have a lot of weight and turning clearance issues just for starters. If you ever go off the pavement and do anything besides a dirt road you will be going thru axles. Building a jeep to run 40" is more than going to a tire store and buying the tire. To run 40" I would suggest a minimum of hydroaulic assist steering, brake kit, 60 axles, suspension upgrades, and it never stops...

its too bad they're so expensive...at least the good Spicer U-joints and stock shafts are still a dime a dozen.

+EVERYDAY-XJ.COM Wouldn't recommend it, as the universal is the fuse if you're to break something, cheap and easy to fix. Switching to an RCV, pushes the fuse or "break point" to your ring and pinion. Very expensive to fix and very time consuming to replace.

What is the benefit of having a CV over a Universal?

+Kay Gee These will retain their strength while turning. They also will not bind when in 4wd and turning the wheel. U-Joints become weaker if the wheel is turned and they click in the turned position.
