Man, I miss the days we weren't so inundated with sports highlight shows and talking heads. During the week, you get a little segment on the local news, and newspaper box scores, then Mel Allen on the weekend. Golden age.

I like all the highlights, but not the talking heads

Agreed - it seems like the talking heads try to be THE highlight - as much as I like Chris Berman …I think it started with him …when god made Mel Allen he broke the mould

Best baseball show ever produced. It jolted excitement, made you like baseball, and the music was great.

The music brings me right back to my childhood. Absolutely timeless. A GREAT Baseball era documented by this wonderful weekly show. The music makes me well up lol. Love it and the era it represents.

Used to enjoy rain delays on televised games. They would play this week In baseball with the great Mel Allen

Great to see the Tigers start of their greatest season ever. 35-5. They led wire to wire and won the World Series that fall. Bless You Boys!

Nearly 40 years later, the Tampa Bay Rays are trying to do the same thing as the '84 Tigers with their unprecedented 27-6 start.

Yeah I remember that. I had just turned 2. The Braves and Yankees were my favorite teams. Back then you could have two because they didn’t have the abomination of interleage play, so you were good as long as they didn’t meet in October. Yeah…Gibson was amazing, but Gossage looked like a fool.

Love TWIB. Always loved this and watching the 'Baseball Bunch' to help to satisfy my baseball needs. It was cool to see my favorite players and teams. Yeah, I just want to see a simple shows like this with highlights and no talking heads.

Before the days of juicers. When baseball was still a great game

10:17 The Phillies would of had Julio Franco, Ryne Sandberg and Lonnie Smith leading off for them ... but no... let's trade em. The biggest miracle was the 1983 wheeze kids The Phils kept: Joe Morgan, Pete Rose, Tony P.

I'm going to predict that if the Cardinals get John Tudor in the off season they'll get to the World Series in 1985. They'll have all the pitching they'll need. For the Lineup they should get Jack Clark and have him play 1b. I bet that'll work. I'm going to make a bold prediction the Chicago Cubs are going to make it to the playoffs in 84.

4:50 Dave Kingman got no respect. He hit 35 in his last year (1986) and no MLB team would sign him? Well, he's certainly in my HOF.

One dimensional player, if there ever was in baseball history.

    • @Landrew1208
      @Landrew1208 9 місяців тому

@CarlosReyes-qe2iq No different than Rhys Hopkins who struck out over 200x.
Also, look at Kingman's 1979 stats. If he had stayed in Chicago, he woulda piled up Schmidt type numbers.

You really could hear the crack of his bat.

@CarlosReyes-qe2iq You can't say that about Kingman's 3 year stint at Wrigley.
      1979:
      97r 153h 48hr 115rbi .288avg
Of course, you are proven correct when he returns to Mets in 1981.... but! Dave goes to Oakland where his stats are comparable to Schmidt, Gorman Thomas, etc.
