Love the bit at the end where you legitimately recommend a cheaper model unless someone actually NEEDS a Cayenne’s size or towing ability. Quality content as always man, thanks.
Agreed, that’s a fuckton. I know it’s not a comparison because it’s a sedan, but I’d much rather get the Taycan Turbo at that price and shit my pants with speed daily.
@@2011blueman You can buy a used Cayenne Turbo for the same price as _just_ the carbon-ceramic brake option alone on the new one. Yup, that is pretty major depreciation!
This sums this up perfectly; “If you do need the rear seat room, you need to tow, and you have a lot of money, this is pretty fricken rad.” Seems like it would be a great daily if I weren’t poor.
It's also fantastic for canadian winters, it gets pretty hardcore up here in Québec and having AWD and being a little more high makes life a lot easier. You can also drive this car all year round... good luck doing that in a Carrera S or 718.
There are so many rich people in the world.. and a lot of them don’t care about depreciation as they lease them and also they don’t want to buy used. It is very expensive, but I think if you can afford it, it’s worth it. If you can barely meet the payments, then just buy a trackhawck or a used one.
@@Juganator I can afford these cars, and i assure you that i care about value. Obviously some people are going to buy these, fully loaded at 160k, but for my money its a 991 AND a macan. Which is essentially what i did, although i went with a Q5.
I was curious and spec'd my own Cayenne GTS to see what price it would be...I got ~$135k with the BOSE, call it $140k if you pony up for the Burmeister. But I skipped the coupe, and you can't get the lightweight package on the regular Cayenne it seems. I started with Carmine Red on my build because I love the color but I ended up with a more subdued q-ship build in gray that I think I would actually dig in the long run. If I ever get a boat I need to tow and 6 figures for a tow vehicle...the GTS is my answer! :P Thanks for the content as always Matt
Great video! That detuned Turbo V8 engine sounds like it's a peach and makes the right noises! Despite not having much more power than my own 2020 S model, the GTS engine appears to be much more muscular and effortless in the mid range. The 434hp 2.9 V6 needs to be worked harder to get the best from it. Still fun tho! Good value for money if you keep the spec sensible. Carmine red is a must!
Imagine if you could take this footage, or this car, go back 20 years in time and show this to someone. The fact that a comfy massive SUV like this thing can go that fast downhill on narrow curvy roads still blows my mind even tho we have seen this be a thing for a while now. This thing would probably out run super cars going back a bit... its nuts! This is what I'd get if I was going to get a SUV. Altho, I'd probably want the regular version, not the coupe for the extra space, but this looks awesome! ...also, I would not buy a gas or diesel car today if I was in the market for one I think, but ... anyway, love this thing! :D
Porsche’s transmission tuning is my favorite of any company. My 958.1 S has an Aisin 8 Speed and they make it feel very fast and direct. It’s always I. The right gear and in sport mode shifts very fast. I’d imagine the new ZF 8 speed is much better. The new transmission has a much better 1-4 gearing ratio than the Aisin.
A cayenne was my first porsche and what a shattered dream. Like a corvair, it's "unsafe at any speed" in the snow and merely dangerous is the rain. It has a swaggle like the rear end ALWAYS wants to be in the front. And that is regardless of tires (been through three sets of all seasons including Pirelli Scorpions from the factory). After a new transfer case and an alignment this year, I'm hoping this winter is better. But I hate the car. Wife likes it which is just perfect. It's a chick car.
Every Porsche model sold as new in Europe is a factory ordered car quite often with loads of options, to make it the way you as the owner want it, mines got over 10% of the cars MSRP price in options, and buying used it had what i had to have and some more on top... winning!!! I don't get at all the buying new cars off the lot that happens in the states, i want a car the way i want it when buying new as i have for other cars, it makes it mine, bit of a wait, so what?! Top guy, love your videos, from a fan in the U.K.
If I'm buying a Porsche, I'm buying an actual sports car. And if I'm buying an SUV, I'm buying something much cheaper that I can take off road without worrying about it. I just don't get these fast, luxurious SUVs... not for me.
Two nitpicks: 1. they’re really trying to set the GTS apart as not an optioned-our S deal. Eg V8 instead of V6 for little power gain, all the specific setups. 2. I probably wouldn’t go for the Macan as the platform is old, and isn’t it based on the last-gen Q5? Still an excellent car but it’s Pan for me for sure, or GLC/X3 if SUV is a must.
When you said it was $110k base, I was like "not surprising, whatever" Then you said it has $51k in options, and my mouth fucking dropped. That. Is. Nuts.

Great vid. I have a question. I have porsche 911 and now I'm thinking of getting a car with more seats. I'm thinking Macan S(2022), Cayenne coupe S, and Panamera Sport Turisumo. Which one would you recommend and why? Thanks!
Good review as always. I'm getting either the Macan GTS or Cayenne GTS in several years but I'm still conflicted as to which to get. Did you find the Macan GTS faster overall or was there little difference other than better Macan handling? Just asking.
the macan GTS is substantially smaller especially in the rear, if you need to put real people in the backseat and value cargo space, the macan is too many compromises IMO.
auto-dimming mirror for 420 dollar? how is that thing not standard on freaking Porsche!? Even my 2006 Focus ST has got it! It's an excellent feature though, but crazy to hear that 14 years later, on a premium car, it's an **option**?!?!

All over the net... it says that these are horrible cars.... The most common problems that Porsche Cayennes deal with include premature tire wear, prematurely worn brake pads/rotors, coolant line issues, dead engines, and noisy transfers/transmissions and all these are reported year after year. Just because car sounds good and goes fast... it does not mean its a perfect car. Give real reviews not a PRish updates. all these details we get from Porsche dealers marketing team too. Carbon-ceramic brakes and the lightweight package are both a waste of money, and just like that you're down to $140K. Very Nicely option GTS can be bought with discounts for under 120k.
The only thing that could really fuck up Porsche is for them to hire just one BMW engineer to make everything a useless gimmick. This car looks/sounds fantastic!
