They give really an amazing feedback of the sky, also because I´m flying without water ballast. But the best is the contrast between two worlds: 18m with 600kg and club class
Thank you! Tried to make an old vlog style video with some explanations. At a record flight like this I only have limited resources to film while I need to make no mistakes while flying ;)
Congratulations Stefan ! Very nice flight Some nitpicking : technically your turnpoint was not Geneva in Switzerland but in a small municipality called Septmoncel in France (the border is a few km East or South). Incidentally, this is the home town of a very good local blue cheese better known as "bleu de Gex"
Hi Stephan, what an Amazing flight, Even if you had this cloud runway to the final glide, Respect and congratulations only to afford staying in your glider for almost 10 hours, I didn't eard flight Time for the moment ! 🤭🥳🤩😭🤩🤩👍👍👍 Nevertheless, you 've got clever feeling while flying, that's enjoying every flight, thanks for sharing !
Man if only i were able to do that. Its such a nice feeling being able to control a plane. I had my first "own" flight experience last weekend (I dont have a pilot´s license yet but i was flying with an flight instructor that let me control the plane once we reached an average attitude of about 400-500 meters) and it was so damn amazing but also relaxing.
Outlandings are my biggest concern. I’m pretty new at gliders and have yet to take my first long glide alone. Wish I started earlier but better soon than never :)
@@SteFly I’m hoping you’re right, my fear is that I misinterpret a field and end up Damaging the glider 😅 But keep up the nice work, I enjoy your videos, learning a lot about the mindset of an experienced glider :)
@@SteFly Thanks, that makes that flight more meritorious. And the speeds reached in the last world championship in Australia don't show a significant difference between 15m (with water) and club class . I suppose the club class climbed better .
As a former glider pilot myself I must add to it,that siting in that little cockpit so many hours is not easy for pilot body, how he got out the cockpit I don’t know but he was probably pretty stif and exhorted ,how ever, congratulation !!!👍
Thanks! Yes, bug wipers are really mandatory for the LS3 and for all longer flights. The wing still doesn't look cleaned but the elevated parts of the bugs are wiped, which is most important for the aerodynamics
Hi Stefan! Does paragliding disturb your flight? Or is it possible to thermal along with them? What is the best thing to do if you're a paraglider pilot and see a glider coming your way? We don't have many gliders flying in Brazil along with paragliders, hence why I ask. Thank you
I think you as a paraglider can do nothing. We are faster and need to fly around you and usually it works ok to thermal together. There paraglider in the middle and the glider around :D At this flight it was my first time that it was very stressful with a lot of paragliders and even one hang glider in one thermal. Usually I try to avoid it but in this case it was mandatory to gain some meters.
All those bugs on your leading edge and you keep on flying unconcerned . I have bug whipper on my glider , I wonder why you don't use one . I remembere I was in a Libelle at 1,000meters ,30km from the airfield so the flight back home was feasable but as my leading edge was "pelted" with bugs , maybe 1 on each centimeter that a made a forced outlanding halfway (15km) to home .
Stefan, at a 10h flight, with drinking a lot of water to be hydrated, where do you pee it out, or better what device are you using. One way slips for incontinent, or a milk bottle, or special pee bottle, catheter and a plastic bag at the leg, you could do a whole video about this interresting question. 🤔😊👍
Thanks Stefan, i always have a plastik milkbottle in the car, that problem can also occur in long Highway travels with stop&go for hours when you advance only some km. 👍😊
I would love a complete prep, walkaround and launch. would be cool to see the whole process.
I don´t have the time at a 10 hour flight day to film all the preps, but at a competition flight or so.
@@SteFly however a full flight from lift off to launch would be amazing
@@Xantecyou mean from liftoff to landing?
Super !!! Such trips give a feeling of freedom!

Great flight Stefan, shows what can be achieved in older technology

"Ja Ja Ja" is the sound of a pilot that is being relieved by finding yet another 3m/s thermal after 700km of flight and 300km to go. Love it! :)
Awesome flight Stefan, truly inspiring.

Also for me it's so hard to realise what´s possible with these skills...
Lovely video as always! Great Job Stefan!

Grear flight!, thanks for sharing!
You have to drive the trailer and glider out to the start point and get someone to drive it back for you at the finish?
Just walk from one end to the other side after landing. No big problem 😅
@@SteFly Ah ok, I thought you flew from one location to another! Thanks for the reply.
Super landing, tank you, l wait the next
What a great flight and fun video. 👍
Outstanding. Unglaublich!
Danke!
Brother, how does this glider fly for so long without a motor and engine and what is its price?
Weired question : in this type of long duration flight if you want to pee (urgently can't hold any longer) then what do you do in that situation ?
Outlandings are my biggest concern. I’m pretty new at gliders and have yet to take my first long glide alone. Wish I started earlier but better soon than never :)
You will only get less concerns when you made some out landings and understand that it's no big deal. And of course a lot of training helps aswell.

Brother, how does it fly in the air for so long without an engine?
Natural atmospheric phenomenons, for example thermals (basically rising air) allow gliders to gain altitude

Hatte ich für die 18m DM in die ASG29 eingebaut... schaue da aber eh nicht so oft drauf, da die Daten vom Larus auch im OpenVario angezeigt werden.
