I find the live recordings of this song to be far superior to the studio recording, for two reasons. 1) the bass work for the live recording is more aggressive and more expressive, not only working with the drummer to maintain the rhythm, but also create an underlying sub-plot to the song,...along with a heavy, distorted garage band growl that is almost absent from the studio version. 2) the studio recording does not include the lead guitar solo, which so suitably sets up Erika Wennerstrom's mournful closing chorus.
