I just spent 2 weeks in India covering Mumbai, Delhi, Agra, Varanasi and Kolkata! Tried majority of your suggestions in those Cities! Ill be back in a few months covering mostly Gangtok and Shimla and of course will be using your videos as reference for my itinerary. Keep up the good work!
Awesome work yaar Sherry! You're just too good! Your show is very well managed and a big big time saver. You cover a lot of stuff in like just a 5 min video. Many many congo to you and your crew for making such amazing videos!! I am hoping that you will own a Food Channel one day!!
You missed out on the most traditional Bengali dishes like 'aloo posto', 'shukto' and different kinds of 'shaak' and a plethora of 'fish items' !!! Also as much as I love Bhojohori Manna and Oh Calcutta, the real essence of Bengali can only be found on the small roadside restaurants, and "maatir bhar" tea stalls. Don't forget to explore raw Kolkata the next time.
Kolkata is probably the only place where anyone can survive.. you can get your meal here at any price starting from 10 rupees to thousands of rupees. This girl is spending a thousand rupees on one meal.. and there are people here eating breakfast for 10 rupees. What a diverse world!
Alokendu Roy no its not a myth. i live in park streeet... just 10 min walk from main park street. we get puris and sabzi aur 2 rs. 5 puri sabzi for 10.. quarter bread for 5. and twist brwad for 6. 4-5 rs for Tea 😋😌. kolkata is for everyone
idk y ppl are criticizing d work she has done just 2 show us, the viewers. 4m my point of view, i rily enjoyed her work... it was short, swt & quite informative. she chose the big restaurant names thou, but really the popular one. great work thou :) keep it up
Kolkata is a city of joy. I must say whatever u want to need like Bengali, moghlai, Chinese u will get everything with great taste and at reasonable Price.
Firstly thumbs up for the good job. But honestly I didn't like your choice of restaurants except for Bhojohori Manna and Flury's. I personally feel you could have visited a LOT of other restaurants which exude the real essence of The City of Joy. Arsalan for biriyani, Peter cat's Chelo kebab, Olypub's beef steak, Mitra cafe, Coffee house, Big Boss in China town famous for its Chinese cuisine. Also Nahoum and sons in New Market, a century old bakery, for its delicious pastries and pies. Oh and of course Sen Mahasay for the what we bengalees love the most...MISHTI. Also kathi rolls are also one of the most famous roadside snacks in Kolkata. You should visit Nizam's for that. Yes these might take a heavy toll on your stomach and could add on some major extra calories, so you gotta keep some Norflox TZ handy and fix a serious workout regime later. :P But then again you haven't really been to Kolkata if you haven't eaten like a true Kolkatan. :D So you gotta visit again and this time ask a local friend to take you around. :) I hope my review helps.
+Soumyadipta Roy Really beef steak of olypub ? Its the most unhygienic piece of crap . Coffee House is a must visit , but the quality has reduced to nothing .
She's in Kolkata. The land of "BENGALI", so it's very obvious that she would try Authentic Bengali food. Why would a sane mind want to try Western here?LOL. One can get Western anywhere.
Thats just something amazing what you are doing, like seriously How can working be just going places and have amzing food. Really loved your video Keep the good thing going, CHEERS!
I have seen a few of your videos and now I have a question. How many days a year do you spend on traveling? And how much do you end up spending on each trip? Just a random question.
The lemon tarts that one gets in Flury's these days are in no way comparable to the ones that we used to have when we were kids. The tarts used to have a crust of marzipan on the top that made all the difference.
Hey it seems you don't tend to put wait.By the way love the way you enjoy the delicacy and flavour.I wonder why people donot visit states like UP,Bihar,Haryana and Madhya Pradesh. No delicacy and flavour but only Buffaloes.
Eat fish with hand and keep fork for some other foods. Eating fish with fork is really a bad way We Bengalis take pride in eating our fish with hand. No hard feelings though
Wow 2 of our favourite places to eat out in Kolkata here! Bar Q serves brilliant Chinese cuisine and we go there regularly when we visit Kolkata. Flurys is a real experience and my wife used to go there when she was growing up in Kolkata. Their eggs benedict is a really tasty breakfast and their cakes beyond compare. Another place worth trying on Park Street is One Step Up - just opposite Bar B Q - they do great cocktails too.
If you visit Kolkata again, just try out "Barbeque Nation". It's not the one you visited. But Barbeque Nation" is veryyyy famouuus and you get the best of barbecues and main course there !!!!
You might not feel awkward to hear that PACHU'S STREET RESTAURANT @ISMAIL STREET,KOLKATA near AJC BOSE ROAD is so cheap that lunch & dinner can be done with Rs. 100/- with rice, dal& beef masala curry with some salads. This Street restaurant is just behind SALVATION ARMY HOSTEL, 172AJC BOSE ROAD. Just hang out once. Even I was in St.Xavier's college, 30park Street, KOLKATA& stayed at SALVATION ARMY HOSTEL. I really enjoyed my college life in this restaurant.
An "institution" often means a place that is a traditional venue or hangout for certain people. It is a place that has a history and a tradition associated with it. It is a place revered more for its history and its traditions than for its current appeal.
You started wrong, Bengali cuisine is 'Service à la russe'. You shd have started with some dal and alu bhaji and gradually move up through the main entries such as Alu posto, then Paturi (the steaam baked fish dish), and then mutton. Though the egg in mutton is an innovation by the restaurant, it is not usually prepared like that. Nobody goes to BBQ for Chinese food. There are better places. And, as a food vlogger you need to describe the taste, saying 'very yummy' and 'nice tart' isn't enough! Nice effort, but could have been a lot better. Sorry couldn't help with my unwanted inputs. All the best!
Kolkata is Excellent in the range of food though "Oh Calcutta" in the days of yore had a lot of Traditional Snacks and Cuisine! Please show us more ! Was that Lemon Tart having a sign on it "Made in Kolkata" Ha Ha Ha😂😂😂👍🏾👏🏽😘‼️👊🏽
Barna Das Good, bad, ugly is everywhere my friend. If you focus on bad things every time then your life will be tragic at every point. However, for a valid reason i am not agreed at all with your statement. It is stunning and very natural when you visit several places in Bangladesh and that is no JOKE at all. There food habits, cultures, lifestyles are a bit different from others but dont expect it will turn 360 degree. You may not agree with me because you made up your mind and certainly very disappointing. I have been to kolkata, Delhi, Jaipur, Darjeeling for several times. All are stunning places but still there are black spots everywhere if you specially always look forward for that. . Telling you frankly is, I have seen the good parts of that and felt amazing. Think positive, you will also see Positive.
bar b q ??????????? QQQQQQQQQQQQQQQQ ???? really .. its a good chinese resturant no doubt ... but try the old china town institiutions such as tung nam or the new china town such as beijing or kimg ling or kafulok or the one near the chinese kali temple i cant seem to remember --
Bengali foods are best enjoyed with bare hand, not with fork & spoon. You could also tell the name of the dishes to your viewers. (e.g. its fish paturi not fish with banana leaves, lol). Apart from that, Great work. Thumbs up.
Bhojohori Manna is good, but really a Johnny Come Lately, not really so much of an institution compared to places like Flury's, Paradise Sarbat, Shiraz, Peter Cat and so on and on and on😅
I just spent 2 weeks in India covering Mumbai, Delhi, Agra, Varanasi and Kolkata! Tried majority of your suggestions in those Cities! Ill be back in a few months covering mostly Gangtok and Shimla and of course will be using your videos as reference for my itinerary.

She's in Kolkata. The land of "BENGALI", so it's very obvious that she would try Authentic Bengali food. Why would a sane mind want to try Western here?LOL. One can get Western anywhere.

like seriously How can working be just going places and have amzing food.
Really loved your video
Keep the good thing going,
CHEERS!
what's the name of the 1st restaurant?
Bhojohori Manna
:)
We should ask for pakka bill (like at 4:10 ), instead of kacha bill (unauthorized; 2:14 )
A lot of places don't have proper bills.
I have seen a few of your videos and now I have a question. How many days a year do you spend on traveling? And how much do you end up spending on each trip? Just a random question.
+me4gals It varies from place to place but usually we spend 3-4 days in each place.
+GottaDoIndia Why don't you answer the how much do you spend question?
I am a Bengali living in Delhi..... Bhojohori Manna is the best restaurant in Kolkata..... It's food tastes soooooo traditional..... I ❤❤it
I've never liked flurys. Btw u should have tried some traditional bengali breakfast - kachori with dum aloo. It's really good.

Md Moinul Hassan fucking culture and fucking country
You should have indian dishes with hand because the platter or the morsel gets 75% edible and homogenise the taste
Whenever you go next, try Radhuni for Bengali food. It beats Bhojohari hands down
+throwinpunches Next time
551 is too much for that, though I don't know how it's taste

Bengali foods are best enjoyed with bare hand, not with fork & spoon. You could also tell the name of the dishes to your viewers. (e.g. its fish paturi not fish with banana leaves, lol). Apart from that, Great work. Thumbs up.

Bhojohori Manna is good, but really a Johnny Come Lately, not really so much of an institution compared to places like Flury's, Paradise Sarbat, Shiraz, Peter Cat and so on and on and on😅

Why did they put the egg on the mutton I have no idea. Kolkata people have really weird food tastes.
You just ate only 0.0000001% of that patudi dish!!! how can you comment on that dish?? by just eating that much...
Im not a chef. I just try the food and tell the viewers what its like. Its a tasting.

Karthik Kumar Sunder Soon.
You are really not aware of having bengalee food..
Fish Kon hath se khata hai
