World's biggest bicycle study: The Bike Study Week in Amsterdam Region

The biggest bicycle research project in the world was conducted in the Amsterdam Region in September 2015, when 8000 cyclists volunteered to track their bicycle rides with a smartphone app for one full week.
This short movie shows the busiest crossings and cycling tracks in Amsterdam and its surrounding municipalities, with an explanation by the program manager of the Bicycle Investment Plan. This plan will be investing 200 million euros in bicycle projects in the Amsterdam Region over the coming 10 years.

What they don't tell you is how well planned bicycle (no car) routes are planned. Also, you can ride year round, even in the snow because they plow bicycle routes cleanly in the winter. There is a video on youtube about year round bicycling in Amsterdam.
