Omg I cant tell you how long I’ve been trying to fix this damn thing, this is the only video I could find that actually showed the inside mechanism!! Thank you so much
We have this same style vacuum and really like it, no need to replace the whole machine when we can fix the switch. I love the craftsmanship- these are great tips and helped us fix our vacuum switch too.
Thank you! just did this to repair my mother in laws worked a treat ! Switch is a bit hard to get to as the plate holding it doesn’t fully come away but got there in the end 😅
I started taking switches apart more often after this repair. Many times a switch is "special" or I just don't have one on hand and the whole device may end up getting chucked because of some dirty points. All my repairs are free so people are just happy to have the thing going again.
I had tried this, however mine had a broken piece of plastic and it still didn't work. I have had others work after taking them apart, unfortunately not the case on this particular switch though. Keep up the videos as they are informative and can save people a lot of hassle trying to find a replacement. I am still searching, lol.
@DJBaldPaul there are two switches located about halfway down the handle of the machine. They would be the ones you use to turn the rollers on and off. I won't be able to show you how to remove the switches since that vacuum has long since been given away. I am a catch and release fixer.
well I'm bummed.. I wanted to see how you even got to that switch, what had to come apart and how to put it together again, my switch is stuck in the ON position so the contacts are probably fused, I just don't want to take stuff apart that might lead to pieces flying across the room as I see 2 springs sticking out of the power head
I gave that vacuum away long ago. Here is a video by someone else that shows how to get into the switches.. ua-cam.com/video/wj2oM02OZ28/v-deo.htmlsi=B3FH0nb2An-kilj_&t=174

Thanks. Lots of little switches like this are repairable. It is especially helpful when the switch is "special" or no longer available.

It was cool to be able to get the switch open without breaking it. I wish more things were made that way.
@@twincitiesfixit you think like me. I've fixed a lot of stuff that was intended to be disposable. 🙂

Sorry your switch couldn't be saved. Thanks for the encouragement.
Can you show how to remove the switch from the vacuum??
Sorry Bob I long since gave that repaired vacuum away.
Same, I don't even know where this switch is located nor how to remove it.

It has been a while, but as I recall, I followed someone else's "how to replace the switch" video. It wasn't too bad a task.
I have a shark anti hair wrap liftaway bu the the button for lift away is stuck down 🤷♀️ wont suck up or even stay in place now
Bummer. Probably a spring out of place or something. Have a look. Don't forget to take pictures as you take it apart so you can get it back together.
exactly what i need to do BUT how do i get the switch out?!!!
