This was the first PTX song I ever heard. It was 2 years ago just before Christmas, I was on my own in the kitchen, not in a good head space and sitting on the floor, crying out for someone to help me when this song played on the radio (the only time I have ever heard a Pentatonix song played on the radio in the UK) it was as though angels were talking to me....their voices touched me. This is one of my favorite songs. I cry every time when Mitch signs 'The Great I Am' If I try to sing along, I always choke up at that line. Thank you once again Barry!
I've heard the Kenny Rogers & Wynonna Judd version of this beautiful song. But PTX made it a soul changing experience. Mitch singing "That sleeping child your holding is The Great I Am" brought literal tears to my eyes. Kevin has a sweet tone to his voice. Older, yes, but in the context of Pentatonix, that is still very young. He was 22-23 when they were on Sing Off, and maybe 26 when this video was made. By my standards, still a baby! :-)

Thanks Anne, I hadn’t noticed it approaching that number. Yes it’s a beautiful song and wonderfully performed by our gang. Creators (people with YT channels) received an email saying that “handles" are going to be introduced. These will make it possible for creators to be tagged anywhere on the platform, in other peoples comments, posts and they can be used to search for a channels videos. Maybe that explains why the system got so glitchy for a while. My official handle is now @ItsmeBarry (no gaps) I’m not sure if the capital letters matter and I’m not 100 percent sure if this is in use just yet but I thought it was worth mentioning, seeing we had already picked up on how problematic the system has been recently.

Any better at all? 🧐 B’s ☘️ woman Annie and your Mum broke curfew and went to a party last night? This is unacceptable behavior!?!? Okay, okay so it was kinda sorta the ladies of the church and a Christmas ornament and snack party but still. She was out way after curfew and it was way beyond dark when she got home? Annie decided she was a rule breaker and didn’t want to take an ornament? Of which I have several that I have already made this year that she had to choose from? No Annie made a snowman ☃️ out of a sock and left it up to me to make him cute? Got that done but was that enough? Nooooooo….. Evil Bro #1 😈 brought us these gigantic pinecones from Florida and I do mean each one is huge. So Annie decides she wants me to “snow” one which involved hot glue and fake snow on each “branch” of the pine cone. Then I decided it needed to be clear coated to make sure it all stayed on. Which had me spray painting the thing in the garage cause it was raining at the time? That stunk up the house, I could smell it all the way back to my bedroom. So she opened the side door to air it out and a cat that wanders around strolled right in, got into a fight with our cat Ms. Kitty (nobody ever accused us of being original with names I mean crap, the chihuahua’s name is Pup Pup 😬 but that is not our fault, #1 😈 had her first and my dog’s name is Baxter Winston Labeth, which is a fine and full proper name but I digress) our cat corners the stray cat and Annie had to break it up with a broom? The stray cat decided this was not the place to just decide to hang out and runs back out the door? While we were working on this stuff Annie has some wrapped cookies there on the table and I was like, what are those cookies? She said, I don’t know but those suckers are so hard, I tried to eat one and decided they were old and I am going to give them to the raccoons 🦝. I started looking at these cookies and one was a dog and one was a bone and I was like, Annie are you sure those aren’t dog treat cookies, look at them? She does and said, well no wonder they are so hard and taste so bad. 😂 🤷🏼♀️ I replied, hey unwrap them, take them tonight and see how many church ladies eat them? I mean you gotta take a snack and all? Annie says, Terri Lynn, you are bad….Santa heard you! Rrriiiggghhhttttt…. 🤷🏼♀️ She made banana bread 🍌 instead and it was so good! I mean I didn’t try the dog cookies but the banana bread 🍌 was probably better? 🤷🏼♀️ We are almost back to the clown 🤡 show without any medication at all? I hope you are still doing well. 🙏 Happy Bambi! 💥 T ✌🏻 ❤️

There’s a version of this song on the deluxe album with the same arrangement but adding orchestra, it just adds this whole other level to the beauty.
If you don't want a cappella.
I cry most of the time when I hear this song, it speaks to your soul!
This is my all time favorite song my nurse sang this for me in the hospital when I thought I was going to die so I asked her to sing it for me. Ty for reacting to this song
Another wonderful Christmas song to soothe my soul
So beautiful. Great reaction.
@It's me Barry
Barry! Congratulations on 200,000 views for "Mary Did You Know"!!!
Beautiful song, beautifully sung. Wonderful video. Lovely reaction Barry!💖
Thanks Anne, I hadn’t noticed it approaching that number.
Yes it’s a beautiful song and wonderfully performed by our gang.
I’m back now, but I’d like it if we can avoid mentioning why I took a few days off. I find it easier to get through hard times by not bringing things up. It doesn’t mean I ever forget, it’s just how I deal with things.
Thanks again for bringing this little PTX milestone to my attention.
@@ItsmeBarry Barry, I was just listening to your PTX playlist on shuffle when this song played. It was at 199,997 views. I was going to listen 3 more times, but when I went back to it it was already over 200,000.
I'm glad you're back!🥰
@@AnneMajdosz that’s lovely to hear that you sit through my nonsense. Poor you, I couldn’t think of anything worse but at least the music is great.
Yes, views don’t get registered straight away, I think it updates every ten minutes or so.
Also some news on the tagging thing.
@@ItsmeBarry Barry! You're the reason I'm watching/listening to music on your channel. It's like having a friend sitting in my livingroom, discussing, laughing, or getting misty-eyed over what we're listening to. I even give you a head nod in agreement every now and then. Don't tell anyone I said that!
The handles sound interesting. Can't wait to try it out. You know how I love to test things!😉
@@AnneMajdosz nod away Anne, I like that. When I’m recording these videos I do feel like I’m talking to my viewers, so in a way we are sitting together enjoying the music. Don’t tell anyone I said that 😉
Oh yes, I know you are the Queen of testing things, that’s why I had to let you in on this little secret.
This is one ifvtheir best Christmas songs. I also love their version of Come All Ye Faithful which they do with a bit of a regae beat. Very uplifting and fun
This is my favorite Christmas Carol. Always has been. Thanks for the review/reaction. Love your format.
One of my fave Christmas songs, made more perfect by PTX. Glad you live it cuz I sure do!!!
The setting reminds me of the Tomb. I felt that was their intent, to show the empty tomb of the resurrected Son of God, the Lamb of God! Rejoice! So uplifting! John 3:16! Perfection!!
YAAAASSSSS!! I've been looking forward to you reacting to this one for AGES! One of my favourites.
I also live for hearing you say "Without any further ado" in your beautiful Irish accent, Barry. 🙂
I am SO glad that you do a 2nd pass review on PTX’s works- analyze it first, then add commentary on the second go. They really do deserve a 2x listen.
I mentioned on another reactor’s page that I too have been involved in a number of choral ensembles over the years, so I (like you) understand the immense challenges that go into the arrangement/ production of a cappella pieces. These folks are untouchable, as far as I’m concerned. As always, my friend, well done. Well analyzed. Well played. 🤘🏾
Barry, you have the most beautiful and sweet expressions on your face when you listen to something that touches you. I think that's the best part of your reactions. Although I love listening to your thoughts as well!! So well done! Blessings and hugs coming your way!! You're so special...
The guy with the gentle voice who had a small solo part is also one of the major sound makers in Pentatonix.
Thank you Barry This was the most beautiful lyric ever heard ! Performed by Pantatonix it was Exceptional 🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏❤️
They are FANTASTIC~~
Christmas And PTX.....OH GOSH YES! This has been my absolute Favorite song for the holidays. Thank you and I’ll be watching for the next one.
Too perfect! 👍🏻 and the cavern! 😍 and your face! 😊💕
It doesn’t matter what time of year you her this song, it’s beautiful
I happened upon this channel by watching the "Pentatonix"...I followed them right to this end and I and I am so grateful for this. Barry, You are spectacular...You cried when I cried...you felt the music just as I did. There were no horns, pianos, guitars to distract...just the instruments of the singers...they are magnificent. I have found a new group and I have found a "NEW MAN TO FOLLOW" you are magnificent, Barry. I will follow you anywhere

Yes, my comments are getting just a tad bit longer and therefore, annoying. Just a little bit. 🤏🏻🤏🏻🤏🏻🤏🏻🤏🏻
How are you feeling? Any better at all? 🧐
B’s ☘️ woman Annie and your Mum broke curfew and went to a party last night?
I replied, hey unwrap them, take them tonight and see how many church ladies eat them? I mean you gotta take a snack and all? Annie says, Terri Lynn, you are bad….Santa heard you!
Rrriiiggghhhttttt…. 🤷🏼♀️
She made banana bread 🍌 instead and it was so good! I mean I didn’t try the dog cookies but the banana bread 🍌 was probably better? 🤷🏼♀️
We are almost back to the clown 🤡 show without any medication at all?
I hope you are still doing well. 🙏
Happy Bambi! 💥

@@Mycophile11 How are you doing? About got it whipped?
@@terrilabeth There's Terri. Merry Christmas. 😁
@@terrilabeth Hi T. You're sounding better!! Do you have video of what's going on in your house... the dog cookies, the stray cat! You had me LOL 😂.
Glad you're feeling better.💕
I’d never heard this song before I saw this group’s video. No complaints!
This was the first song I heard by Pentatonix and it is still my favourite. :-)
They just dropped their 6th Christmas album. React to dance of the sugar plum fairy. They got a Grammy for it.
