Great job! I have my 2011 27” apart right now. Waiting for a new power supply and i7 2600 processor to arrive from Amazon. Mine originally came with the i5 processor. Cheers, Jamie 🇨🇦

Thanks for the video. About to do the same to a 2011 iMac 21.5 //// i5 2400s 2.5 GHz ---> i7 2600s 2.8 GHz as well as the GPU AMD Radeon HD 6750M 512 MB ---> NVIDIA Quadro K1100M 2 GB //// Hopefully should allow the machine to run for another couple of years before the M1 or Apple Silicon iMacs become available.
That's awesome. I hope everything works. Just remember, when upgrading the GPU, there can be issues in the software and features missing. Just wanted to put that out there but I think you've done your research. Thank you so much for watching!!
@@bjarkenielsen8515 It did go well. The processor is noticeably quicker, graphics card I can't see much difference for normal tasks as the 21.5 model is 1080p. Problems encountered were lack of second external monitor support with new graphics card after upgrading past High Sierra to unsupported (officially) operating system and the GPU fan wants to run constantly. I had to use Mac Fan Control program for that issue. Overall a nice upgrade if a person has the parts already or can get them cheap. If your going to spend a lot of money to obtain parts might be better to get M1 Mac.
@@bjarkenielsen8515 I also did the Bluetooth 4.0 upgrade. Which works well too. The problem is the Big Sur still doesn't run 100% accurately even with all these upgrades. @@ChaseFisherOfficial Thank you very much for your reply. I have a similar, yet stock machine that I run with Ubuntu 21.04. I am pondering an upgrade and I may just find that a GPU-upgrade is overkill for the purpose of my computer. However, I am very curious to know if it will boot and run well with Ubuntu (and windows 10) after having flashed the GPU. Have you tried to test-boot Ubuntu from at USB-stick (not install it, just test but/runfrom a USB-stick)?
Hi, my question to you is, in most cases Apple used a standard or lower slower grade gpu in models like ours I have the exact same model. I’m about to change my cpu to the I7 2600s but I’m also going to upgrade the gpu. After many years of reading about computer building, building quite a few myself, I’ve learned when you’ve upgraded your computer to the latest and greatest ram, and COU, that if you want to get the best performance out of your new upgrades it’s vital to upgrade your GOU to the highest fastest gou you can afford and I also learned hi end gpu are expensive.
Hi, I need some help. I am looking to upgrade my iMac (Retina 5K, 27-inch, Late 2014), Processor: 4 GHz Quad-Core Intel Core i7, Graphics: AMD Radeon R9 M295X 4 GB I use this mac for video editing and other graphic related work and it takes quite a long time to render the files. What are my options here. Can I upgrade it to Intel® Core™ i9-10850K Processor 20M Cache, up to 5.20 GHz What about the graphics upgrade?
Gracias por el video, estoy buscando actualizar lo más posible mi iMac ¿son los mismos pasos para la iMac de 27" Mid 2011?. Tu video tiene muy buen sonido e imagen felicidades.
No, because if you do there will be compatibility issues with the iMac. You'll lose a few things you can do with it and you'll have to change firmware things. I can do it, but I don't think it's worth it. Thank you so much for watching!
I don’t know because there are certain CPUs that won’t work because of compatibility issues as well as you can blow the entire computer because of the power draw and the socket can be wrong and if you place the CPU in and it doesn’t work, you can screw up the motherboard. Just do your research. Thank you so much for watching!
It’s not that easy to swap out a HDD to SSD. There’s a kit and it’s very expensive. Eventually though. Thank you so much for watching! Subscribe for more!
I don’t think so. The socket is LGA 1150 I believe and I don’t think I’ll work. Maybe the cpu will also draw too much power for what the power supply can handle. So, no it probably won’t work. I hope this helps. Thank you so much for watching!
I don't think you can. For this model, the i9 wasn't available. I believe the i9 came out in 2017 or so. The iMac wouldn't work with it at all and isn't optimized for it anyways. I hope this helps. Thank you so much for watching!
I don’t think that’ll fit the motherboard nor it’s compatible with the iMac. Might be wrong but this is the highest CPU the iMac can take. Thank you so much for watching and subscribe for more!

I downgraded to el capitan. Will putting the usb hub only consider the i5? Only the 2 LEDs on the left stay on, the video fan doesn't turn very slowly, I have 2 i5s working, but I put the i3 back on, I'll do this, will it work? The tecman E.? @thetecman E..
