An amazing version of Bob Dylan's classic tune
The moment that Camille realized that Zeek passed on was probably the most heartbreaking moment on the show. That sidebar that Zeek had with Adam about scattering his ashes on the baseball field is haunting to watch now.
Just finished rewatching Parenthood and that series finale is one of the best of all times.
My father used to sing this to me when I was little.
never watched the series, but I think Rhiannon Giddens is a force of nature.
I know I’m late but this song and the flash forwards in the parenthood finale were a perfect ending to the show

Love it , My oldest Son Jason - Passed away at 24 and somehow I can place this song with him . Though he's not suffering anymore from the Cancer - In my.heart he'll always be Forever Young !!! GodBless you and your family , stay safe .... Chris

I kept just missing Parenthood when it was on TV, so finally gave up. Unbelievably, I caught the very last episode, totally by chance. So I watched it as there was nothing else on the telly. I had tears rolling down my face when it came to this rendition of Forever Young, and the final parting of the family. It had grabbed my heart somehow so I went out and bought the entire 6 seasons on DVD right away. I binge watched my way through them and I have to say, I absolutely LOVE Parenthood. It appeals to a slightly older demographic and about bloody time too. I so wish they had kept the story going. The music, the actors, the story, I could relate to on so many levels. But the networks will continue to always cater to the younger demographic, or try dumbing us down with rubbish. So until another quality show like Parenthood comes on, I will go back to reading my books.
I know what you mean.I love parenthood, i bought season 1-6 on digital format. I just love binge watching the show and im glad they all had a happy ending. I wouldn't want it back on air because they probably would of dragged another character marriage unnecessarily through hell and back. Like you im reading to fill void from good family show.
Canuck Wench I know this post is from a year ago but I also loved parenthood myself, cried when it ended. however, NBC did come up with a new show since then, it's called This Is Us. it is an absolutely amazing show and while it doesn't fill the void of parenthood, it makes me cry every week and is totally relatable just like parenthood was. You should check it out :)
Hey, Kristine. I had seen the previews of This Is Us and thought, ohhh, might be interesting....but once the series actually started, it was on while I was at work. Sadly, I don't own a PVR either. I only have the basics of anything. So I might have to try buying on DVD as well.
there's something called digital cable where you can record tv shows, once it was called TiVo. have you heard of it where you are from?

Just watched all 6 seasons of the Bravermans in 4 days, half for the wonderful stories and the other half for the WONDERFUL music! I was introduced to so many talented artists I’d never heard of !!
A favorite song and love this version of it! Was a bittersweet fairwell and will miss spending Thursday nights with the Bravermans. :(

So unbelievably beautiful!!! Makes me cry because all I can see when I hear this is the finale of "Parenthood" when you see all 4 Braverman siblings carry on the way their dad wanted them to. Bob Dylan would be proud!!!

Such a moving version of an already great song.
Never watched Parenthood, but this song came up on Spotify a little while back, and I've been hooked ever since.
Parenthood is one of the best tv series i have seen in my life. Its on hulu do watch it.
I also first heard this on Spotify and I absolutely love it. I've listened to other versions and they just sound anemic in comparison.

Well I guess the good old days of feeling special because we knew about Rhiannon and no one else did, are over. This lady is going mainstream! The days of catching her with CCC playing to just a few hundred people are probably soon to be over. Between her Apple commercial (an instant classic by the way) her solo album ad now this, Rhiannon is on her way to being a house hold name
She remains as down to earth as ever. Devoted to her husband and children - I'd much rather people of her character be in the limelight than some others out there, but yeah, I will miss her being small town easy to see and hear.

This song has such meaning to me and I am in love with it. They played this song at my cousins funeral and also it was the ending song to an extremely emotional show (parenthood) songs like this kinda make me want to curl up in a ball and cry. It gives me all the feels man!

Appreciate the post, as the days linger after the finale more and more of the depth of the show appears and makes it even more meaningful. My new cause....more meaningful shows for the Boomers! I don't like the fast paced, violent dramatic shows on TV or movies....any more Hollywood people have an eye for that?

Yeesh. Sam was excellent - back to the old sound which was perfect. I don't know who this Rhiannon Giddens is but what a bad matchup! Her ornate and overt style didn't compliment Sam's lovely stripped down sound at all.
