    I agree that most people looking at these cars want an automatic. But, I have to give Acura props for offering the manual as a tribute to the original Acura integra which is what made the Acura brand. I feel they should always offer a manual sport for those people wanting to keep to the original roots, but 150hp in a 32K vehicle is pretty ridiculous.

    In 2015 I cross shopped a Lexus is250, Audi A3, bmw 3 series, and the Acura ILX. The Acura is the better option if you focus on the sound system, maintenance cost, and leather standard interior. The only 13-15 Acura that competes with the ones listed above is with the 2.4l engine. In 2016 when Acura standardized the DCT and 2.4l engine, it really made the ilx a compelling package for sport luxury sedan.
    Matt, please review the 2016+ model, your review was pretty honest and reasonable, sounds like all of your suggestions changed the latest model

    I don't get why so many people hate this car. 28k for entry level luxury and 33+ mpg? What do people expect for only 28k?

    • @miker7890
      @miker7890 11 років тому +2

      For 26-28k, the car only has 150 hp and gets 24 in the city and 35 hwy. It's just as slow as a civic or corolla. And 24 mpg city, a civic gets better mpg. Acura needs to get rid of the 2.0 L engine or add a tubro.

    • @Anchor7
      @Anchor7 11 років тому +16

      You can't have it all. MPG and Horsepower and keeping it under 30k. If you wan't more horsepower buy a car with more horsepower. This car is perfect for people who drive a lot to work and want something nicer than a crappy civic.

    • @Anchor7

      ***** Civics are great cars, just so bland.

    • @Anchor7
      @Anchor7 10 років тому +2

      ***** yeah, but it will still just be a civic. Bland inside and small.

    That is a honda 4 cyl though so this acura ilx will be running even while all the other cars people compare to this car which are completely irrelevant will be having problems. It's a simple car that offers some brand and comfort for a relatively low price. You can't be wowed at this price so this is a settling affair. Something older people don't mind doing the TLX is a really nice looking car though

  • @mikemush4867

    Really nice review. Thanks! This car sounds perfect for me. I'm currently driving an LX Civic. This is a really nice upgrade - leather, way nicer stereo and rims. As much as I'd like a little more performance, I like the fact that it gets pretty decent fuel economy. Always the trade off. I think the key is to lease them. Acura leases are dirt cheap. 2014 ILX for 0 down and $300/month. There's nothing close to that deal.

  • @ldawson103

    I hate these types of reviews on Acuras where the reviewer seems to make excuses for liking things about it. You can tell they like it, but seem to be worried about being called a Honda fanboy, so they end every compliment with a BUT...

    • @AlexTheeGr8t
      @AlexTheeGr8t 10 років тому +5

      You nailed it with your comment. Another one that I hate are the reviewers (not this one) and opinion givers who can't seem to let go of that Acura bucktooth grill misstep from 2009. The newer grills look and flow better yet it's common practice to hate on it like it's still the 09 catastrophe. Oh well.

      The ILX is a boring car. He's being honest. Theres nothing special about it so what more do you want him to say. 150hp dressed up Civic is what it is. Its not sporty or fast, just point A to B transportation

    • @infamousian123
      @infamousian123 7 років тому +1

      boondox max still a nice car though, reliability on this thing has to be amazing

    • @v60polestar88
      @v60polestar88 7 років тому +1

      infamousian123 I am sure it is but it's too down market for Acura. There's just no need to buy this over a Civic.

    • @infamousian123
      @infamousian123 7 років тому +1

      boondox max yeah there isn't but for the small percent of people who want a cheap luxury civic, why not? I interior could make the difference as comparing the two interiors is similar but you can easily tell which one is the luxury one.

    I have this car except the 200hp 6spd MT Dynamic version. Very fun to drive. The gearbox is incredible and the power is very adequate at 200. The tech works great and I love it. Only issues are it's not incredibly great to look at (except for the grille which I love) and the Acura brand doesn't command as much prestige as a Mercedes, BMW, or Lexus. Thinking of swapping out of it for a CLA.

    Very nimble car. Excellent audio system. I have exact same one 2013 with only 38k miles. Great to zip around slower cars in urban setting. Small turning radius. Great to make a quick turn in. Great visibility too. German cars that are this old are money pits or in a junk yard. Same age Lexus interior will feel very dated compared to this little Acura. You don’t really care about 0-60 in this car . Once you get going it flies it feels so lite.

    The nice thing about that ugly Chrome Grill is that a $5 can of black spray paint from Wal-Mart (and a bit of masking tape) will fix that problem nicely. I just paint the chrome center part and leave the chrome surround untouched = it does wonders for the look of the car.

    Keep the reviews coming. This car really doesn't make a whole lot of sense on any level. It's a rebadged civic and they haven't improved the power. I've heard that Acura is basically giving these away with 0$ Down leases and cheap sticker prices so maybe if you can score a deal they may be worth it. Definitely not at 30k though.

  • @TurboLag23
    @TurboLag23 11 років тому +1

    Well... it's a Civic for $32,000. I don't know what to say.
    A 2008 Acura TL cost just a couple thousand more back in the day (I inherited mine from my dad, who bought his new). The 2008 TL was a bargain at about $34,000; hugely sporty, comfortable, and well-equipped. This thing barely tries to be anything other than a rebadged Civic. At that price, it needs at LEAST 240 hp.
    I nominate the ILX for "Biggest Ripoff of 2013". Sorry Acura, but as a proud owner, you are a bit lost right now.
