That manual transmission looks like a lot of fun to drive! I own a 2010 Acura TL SH-AWD 6mt and I absolutely love it! We have a 2014 TL 6 speed auto as well. We also have a 2019 Acura MDX A-spec , 2019 Acura TLX A-spec and a 07 Odyssey that still drives amazing till this day. We are loyal to the Honda/ Acura brand because of its reliability and high resale value.
I just got this exact model, and I absolutely love it!...It so much fun to drive, and I can't find anything wrong with it at all...I'm only 5'8 so it fits me perfect...Highly recommended!
Fantastic review! This restores my faith in Honda and Acura, I own a Prelude and an S2000, it’s nice to see that its spirit is still intact! The ILX looks great, has a beautiful interior, makes a very nice sound and is simple, perfect formula. Great Job Acura!
If you can find a used one with low mileage, it's worth the money. Very underrated car. I had one and traded in on a new Ridgeline because I needed the space and utility. I still miss that car.
Yeah, I just traded in my 98 Integra for the 6sp mt ILX. Your video was dead on. It's a beautiful car, and it's fun as hell to drive--fantastically short throw on the stick, perfect action on the clutch and the engine loves to be reved. The exhaust note is quite nice as well. Well done, Acura. Thie ILX is the great modern analog of the Integra.
I test drove the ILX today..the 6 speed. Great car inside and out. And I own a '10 Evolution. The ILX isn't as fast, but for the interior/tech stuff/MPG, its well worth it.
The SI is still a nice car and matched for content this is still $4000 more. I think it depends on what you want out of your car. This has a bit of a different image than an SI.
the only reason i clicked on the video was because i saw your hand on the shifter. (assumed it was a manual review) most reviews are done with automatics so props for going with the stick. i think tsx's and tl's would sell better if there was a rwd option. great review 5/5
Thanks for this great review. Acura lost me since my purchase of the 2004 TSX. The newer models are bigger and heavier, much less drivable. Test drove this one when I took my car back to service. This is the only one from Acura that will consider replacing my car.
Let the haters hate, this is the integra successor. I just got rid of my RSX-S I cannot wait to get me a 6 speed ILX. A lot of people ask why not the TSX Special Edition? It weighs 500 more pounds. I bet this thing will keep the things I loved about the RSX-S and fix the things I hated about it.
Great review, wasn't really that interested in this car until I saw this review. Still over 30k is pass my budget if I end up needing a car in a few months. If you were looking for a sporty car, would take this over the SI? I mean is it sporty enough even with the added refinements it got as an Acura?
I just bought The 2017 dual clutch 8 speed is amazing transmission I love it with new tires 245 all around handles sick for front wheels drive wider tires gives so much grip
2015 ILX 2.4 6sp manual owner here, picked up mine couple of days ago with 128000 k miles all drove by one owner, even though it shifts very smooth but i see no where in its carfax where transmission oil has been changed, should i be looking at that at dealership or local mechanic?
I haven't driven the 6MT yet but the 2.0 disappointed me with how Civic like it felt, this sounds great and seems quick. I'm not sure I would consider this for a replacement for my 5MT 2012 Fit next year as I can't get NAV on this model and I'd like that for my next car. Plus for $30 grand I could get a Focus ST or VW GTI and its a hatchback
I like the shift knob, reminds me of the knob in an s2000. Just needs an LSD and better suspension tuning. Also like how he says rev hang is obsolete in the ILX
Type-s is on vacation at the moment. There really can't be a Type-S TL anymore, I mean, what else could they put on that car. The RL (yes, the one to come) is suppose to be a flagship car, so I think it will just come in lux trim and not wonder into sporty type-s hijinks. The TSX is said to merge into the TL as the TLX, so with all that change going on, I doubt they will be quick to overload the customer with yet another trim level so early. So, the ILX may the most likely to get the Type-s
You definitely get a decent amount of road noise and engine noise in the ILX. There is less than in a Civic, but it is far from being Lexus quiet. I'm surprised to hear about your terrible milage in the Lexus, if you are getting bad milage there you are going to get bad milage with an ILX as well.
Lol last time I went to an auto show and said that acuras are hondas but with leather and a bigger engine, the dealer looked at me like if he knew I was drunk. XD
Yeah, I don't think we will see SH-AWD in any Honda/Acura car smaller than the new TL. It's like Honda doesn't want to step in Subaru's territory of small AWD sedan; I mean, if this wasn't the case, we would already have the TSX Type-R with the RDX's turbo and SH-AWD. The TSX with just the RDX's turbo would be a hot vehicle, but throw in the SH-AWD and it would be a MUST BUY..
The only downside to me is the engine comes from the 9th generation Civic Si motors, while the 8th generation Civic Si motors were much more fun to drive. Having said that if you get an 9th generation Civic SI motor, I would rather get the ILX than the Civic Si.
Don't think the ILX offers enough luxury to spend $8k more over a Civic SI sedan, plus it sacrifices the limited slip diff. Nice car though, sedated styling, LOVE the thinner A pillars and smaller dash with REGULAR gauges! Plus you can get navigation in the Civic Si, but not in the ILX 6spd.
Just what Acura customers have been asking for. A $30,000 Honda Civic with a fancy 3-letter name to justify its price tag. How about an Integra/RSX return?
Want proof that Honda/Acura still does things right? Look at 3:14 when he says Honda/Acura still do it right, and then you see 2 Hondas and 1 Acura zoom by on the other side of the road and you realize he's also driving an Acura himself.
The K24 sounds really nice. Tho I might have a hard time deciding between this and a 6-speed manual TSX seeing how the prices aren't far apart. Also the Color is pretty nice.
I think this car is a big miss by Acura. The version here thats driven is the 2.4L with 201 hp and has a 6 speed manual. You can not get this this 2.4L with an automatic nor can you get it with the top of the line technology package. The fully loaded version of this car with the technology package only comes with the 2.0L 150 hp motor or the hybrid. Not only that but the price of the top of the line ILX is over $32K. A Honda Civic EX-L with basically the same equipment is almost $8K less.
I'm surprised, haven't heard such praise for this tarted-up Civic before. I'll reserve my opinion until I drive one, but for a small car with small engine the MPG is complete and utter rubbish, even the hybrid. The new full-size Lexus ES hybrid gets 41/40
I wonder if Honda made a $30,000 Civic. In other words, I wonder if the ILX has higher quality components than the Civic. I wonder if it's over engineered, designed to be durable and long lasting. If so, I can forgive Acura for negating front double wishbones...
Except the "more powerful" engine is actually slower due to the Verano's 300+ pounds of extra weight, poorer fuel economy and unsure long term reliability. But sure, if people are ready to give Buick credibility after a couple years of decent cars...go ahead.
The k24 is a piece of crap but at least this one had a 6mt and revved to 7300 and not 6800 like the new piece of lazy garbage in 2016. They can take their 10 disk multi clutch autos and shove it up their ass. They need to bring back their 8k+ rpm motors like the B series or 2ltr K series. with more aggressive V-tecs.
Speed isn't everything. I owned many cars, including a 400+ whp evo and my fav car still to this date is a 2001 Integra GS-R that I owned. It's about the high revs and feel of these cars, which the new ones lack. No one gives a fuck about the 1/4 mile times.
$30,000 US dollars? LOL! What a joke. You could buy a Camry SE with a V6 engine, and have a much better and faster car for less money. The ILX is a cute car for a high school girl, but why so much money?! No thanks. Too feminine for a real man.
His description of the little details is why I've always loved Honda.
Great Job Acura!
great review. was seriously looking to move away from my rsx type s into a vw golf but now im in love with acura again with this review
David Tran I’m still rocking an RSX too, so little things in the market that are comparable to it, this is probably the next best thing.
The shift feel in the ILX is nothing short of amazing. For a FWD cable linked shifter, it's exceptional.
If you can find a used one with low mileage, it's worth the money. Very underrated car. I had one and traded in on a new Ridgeline because I needed the space and utility. I still miss that car.
Same I have a turbo 02 type s cant decide between this or a 14 si
Yeah, I just traded in my 98 Integra for the 6sp mt ILX. Your video was dead on. This is an awesome luxury Honda Civic Si.
I thoroughly enjoyed this review. Thank you.
Just like the car itself. No BS, no flashy effects, just straight up man and car.
Thank you for this very informative and well put together video review of the Acura ILX. I will use this for my training at my new job with Acura.
The car sounds INCREDIBLE. I would get it just for the motor
Nice to see a longer driving review. Thanks.
I test drove the ILX today..the 6 speed. Great car inside and out. And I own a '10 Evolution. The ILX isn't as fast, but for the interior/tech stuff/MPG, its well worth it.

We have not reviewed the 2012 Acura TL. I have driven one, but only briefly. Did you have a question?
Thanks for a great review,I'm looking at a used one of these same color and everything!
Thanks for this great review. Acura lost me since my purchase of the 2004 TSX. The newer models are bigger and heavier, much less drivable. Test drove this one when I took my car back to service. This is the only one from Acura that will consider replacing my car.
Excellent review! All of your observations are right on point an extremely well explained.
you have a very impressive vocabulary! and you know a lot about cars, subbed!
Great Review. I am really thinking about either going with an Acura ILX or Infiniti G25. Any thoughts on either you would prefer?
After seeing more than a couple of comparisons to Verano winning, I cannot say enough about the Turbo Verano with 6-speed.
It sucks that you can't get the 6 speed with the tech package. I just don't get it why they did that.

Good review. But what DON'T you like about the car specifically?
2015 ILX 2.4 6sp manual owner here, picked up mine couple of days ago with 128000 k miles all drove by one owner, even though it shifts very smooth but i see no where in its carfax where transmission oil has been changed, should i be looking at that at dealership or local mechanic?

How does it compare with TSX 2013/2014 engine in MT?
I actually really like this car. A more mature version of the Civic Si. Although I'm not sure I can still justify the price tag...
Just bought a 2015. Hope its as good as the ol RL.
I wanna test ride the 2.4 6spd so bad. Told my Acura dealership to give me a call asap once they get one in. All they have right now are the 2.0 ones.
This is how one should review a car!
How will this stack up to the 2015 Audi A3, which has Quattro?
have you reviewed the 2012 acura tl?
Now 2014 ILX Dynamic comes with tech package in Canada. Great review and I'm looking to replace my 2004 TSX with this little car.
Dang that engine sounds nice! Only if you can get the 2.4 with a tech package!
I like the shift knob, reminds me of the knob in an s2000. Just needs an LSD and better suspension tuning. Also like how he says rev hang is obsolete in the ILX
Very good review indeed, and I check them all.
Type-s is on vacation at the moment. There really can't be a Type-S TL anymore, I mean, what else could they put on that car. He fell in love with VTEC. :) K- series.

Why is your steering so unsteady?
Lol last time I went to an auto show and said that acuras are hondas but with leather and a bigger engine, the dealer looked at me like if he knew I was drunk. XD

Great review!
your web-based training with acura will help you with your new job at acura. they actually train you, and the training is actually useful lol
Interesting, would never think an acura would offer a manual transmission and have an outgoing ride like that. Makes me consider one.
does the wheel telescope?!
The only downside to me is the engine comes from the 9th generation Civic Si motors, while the 8th generation Civic Si motors were much more fun to drive. Having said that if you get an 9th generation Civic SI motor, I would rather get the ILX than the Civic Si.
7:45 I thought Integra is based off the Accord???
I was. We're in the Philadelphia area.
the steering is unsteady because the power steering in the new Hondas are literally feather light
I own a 2013 Acura ilx and everything he’s saying is 10000000% right
Thank you for the reply!
Thanks... great job
If he buys a Verano turbo, He'd get a much quieter car, and , a more powerful engine too, not to mention the way nicer interior. Good call, bro
Good review
they do it for value purposes. this is much cheaper than german rear drive cars, but acura offers SH-AWD models for enthusiasts
I bought the civic Si 2013
good review
Just what Acura customers have been asking for. A $30,000 Honda Civic with a fancy 3-letter name to justify its price tag. How about an Integra/RSX return?
Very nice car, but the price tag is a bit high. I honestly wouldn't pay $30,000 for a 201hp 4cyl. I hate civics but i would rather get an Si.
My guess is that this isn't the sportiest ILX to come, therefore no diff. The Type S will probably have more power and a diff.
Want proof that Honda/Acura still does things right? Look at 3:14 when he says Honda/Acura still do it right, and then you see 2 Hondas and 1 Acura zoom by on the other side of the road and you realize he's also driving an Acura himself.
The ILX isn't available with sh-awd just front wheel drive
agreed...
The K24 sounds really nice. Tho I might have a hard time deciding between this and a 6-speed manual TSX seeing how the prices aren't far apart.
Also the Color is pretty nice.
I thought it was a 6-sp not 5. He never went to 6th gear that's why I'm asking
I think this car is a big miss by Acura. The version here thats driven is the 2.4L with 201 hp and has a 6 speed manual. A Honda Civic EX-L with basically the same equipment is almost $8K less.
so this car is a fancy civic.
beautiful car and really good price good review

200hp in a car that size will make it move. No race car but move it will.
This car is everything I want, but for $5000 over what it should be worth. For $30,000 you should be in an entirely different class of cars.
no LSD :(
Except the "more powerful" engine is actually slower due to the Verano's 300+ pounds of extra weight, poorer fuel economy and unsure long term reliability. But sure, if people are ready to give Buick credibility after a couple years of decent cars...go ahead.
Sigh, yes I know, if it's an Acura, it would have to be a Type-s.
same car as SI but with Acura Emblem.
Because they are leaving room for a Type-S. 2015
One does reviews like u some reviews r like 5min long like really
You were on Rt. 202! What a crap road.
Get the G25, much better car for the price overall.
opie and anthony lol
No lsd? Civic si all the way
I think he likes it..lol
That looks like a Honda Civic. Why is it so much more money? Oh, because it has an acura emblem.
You'd be better off saving a few grand and getting a civic si
LOL you are in pa on rt 30
Opie and Anthony? lol.
The k24 is a piece of crap but at least this one had a 6mt and revved to 7300 and not 6800 like the new piece of lazy garbage in 2016. HybridEnergy amen imagine this car with lsd and k20z3
we need much more agressive honda like 1litre=110hp this car must has 260hp or have hybrid engine with powerfull electric engine sum power 250hp
I see that shift knob... And all I think is Oooo.
Broken car.
Dan. You think it might have transmission problems like the eight gen Si?
Honda #1. Toyota crap.
This guy is just memorized by the fact that it's an Acura. The car has no actual merits. Slow as balls.
True, it may be an Acura but it's got the SI's engine. Idk about you but I've driven plenty Civic SI's and they're not remotely close to being slow.
The WeeklyDrive I don't think he's driven an Si.
Speed isn't everything. I owned many cars, including a 400+ whp evo and my fav car still to this date is a 2001 Integra GS-R that I owned. It's about the high revs and feel of these cars, which the new ones lack. No one gives a fuck about the 1/4 mile times.
HybridEnergy Your name is funny. You like Hyrids dont ya
$30,000 US dollars? LOL! What a joke. You could buy a Camry SE with a V6 engine, and have a much better and faster car for less money. The ILX is a cute car for a high school girl, but why so much money?! No thanks. Too feminine for a real man.
If you think a Camry is a real mans car then you have lots of growing up to do and a bigger car to compensate your manhood with ;)
ilx or camry will not make you a man.
Great review!
