    It's great to see what enjoyment she is getting out of this. I think she is one of the greatest pianists of our time, at the very least, even though I don't think this particular piece is quite in her wheelhouse - maybe employ a little lighter touch, with less sustain, mas sinuendo, mas danzon. But that's a matter of taste.

      It is an orchestra work by Marquez called Danzon No. 2. Look for a performance with Gustavo Dudamel and the Orquesta Sinfónica Simón Bolívar. This version here by Yuja Wang might be her own transcription, I'm not sure, but it's a total butcher job, sorry to y'all Yuja fans. None of the rhythmic character of the piece is there and so many mistakes. Listen to Dudamel conducting it to get the right feel.

    • @dibaldgyfm9933
      @dibaldgyfm9933 3 роки тому +1

      @@pauldeck4500 :: Interesting, it would seem that Wang is playing from printed music something which she either wrote herself or which some local composer made as an arrangement of Marquez' Dance.
      But I think it is an encore, and as such she plays it because the local public knows this music or this style of music.
      The recording sound is weird (not like a Steinway grand!) but so what, this is a recording of how Wang plays from music (concentrated, grandiose, under stress, but still mastering the situation). I did not look for subtleties here.

    Based on this apparent arrangement, the composer sounds like an amateur. Enthusiastic, but too long and repetitive for what it is.

    • @robertmcnamara5407
      @robertmcnamara5407 3 роки тому

      Not knowing the composer, you are probably right on the amateur title but then a composer has to start somewhere. If this is it's first outing this piece could end up being rearranged for being too long and/or repetitive. Through the centuries composers have always had pieces that after the first airing were re written or re arranged due to various reasons, let's hope this composer learns and continues, we need them.

    • @yafetpalomeque75
      @yafetpalomeque75 3 роки тому

      This is one of Mexico's most famous melodies. The composer is not an amateur. Yuja is as usual, outstanding, but you should try the orchestral version of this Danzón, it's very interesting.

    • @ronmann802
      @ronmann802 3 роки тому

      Then again... Mozart is usually too long and too repetitive.. and often not nearly as exciting as this...

      1ponsford There are different attires for different occasions. There’s attire for cabaret, there’s attire for red light district joint, and there’s attire for classical music concert where everyone else dresses respectfully. Of course, it was her choice to have a f**k-you attitude and put on something borderline sluttish. You can spin it whichever way you want, but apparently, talent and taste don’t go hand in hand.

    • @1ponsford
      @1ponsford 3 роки тому +6

      @@PS-kd1if Sorry, I didn't realize I was conversing with a 150 year old, pompous, mysogenistic, sexist, prig. You are aware we're in the 21st century, right. I know that during Queen Victoria's reign when you were young women were terribly oppressed and without a voice, but society has progressed somewhat since then. You're probably one of those Neanderthals that thinks if a woman is wearing a short skirt she's asking to be raped. It's happening slowly, but fortunately your way of thinking is gradually dying out. Go back to your manor house drawing room and butler will bring you a brandy. There you go.
