Exactly the same experience from me. I firstly noticed her playing Chopin's Ballade 1 on graduation recital on UA-cam. Out of curiosity, I watched the evolution of Yuja Wang from 9 to 33 later, which completely changed my mind about her. The more I listen to her playing, the more confident I am that she is not just another Chinese prodigy, she is the legend.
I have to agree that she's very good, indeed, but for my tastes, Alexander Malofeev surpasses her. In fact, he's extraordinary. Can't believe the extent of his classical repertoire and his ability to transport the listener to absolute bliss. Have watched all his videos showing the progress he has made from the age of eight to 18. Even at 8 this then kid took my breath away.
