Try Bert Weedon's "Play In A Day" book. Bert Weedon was the Englishman who almost single-handedly made the guitar popular in the U.K., Keith Richards, Eric Clapton, Hank Marvin etc all began with his book.

I took care of C.F Martin's great granddaughter. She told me what is was like growing up getting to mingle with high end stars when they would come to buy guitars. She had pictures of her with Elvis and Johnny Cash. It's her nephew who is currently the CEO. She was such an interesting and wonderful woman.

Anyone else think your basically paying for the name behind Martins and Gibsons?
Anthony Carrera I would agree the name is what ramps up the cost, but I do think certain makes have a unique feel to them. I never want to put down my Martin, just feels so good personally to play and explore on it, while other makes give a different experience - still good, each make you play and think a little differently.
I guess the solution truly is to keep expanding the collection haha
Oh absolutely, you'll even get that with guitars by the same company/maker no 2 guitars ever have the same feel to em.

Well I wouldn't say its shitty, just saying I feel like generally speaking for both companies you can get something of equal quality for far less but regardless, the quality is absolutely there for both brands.
Yuuya Cook alot of people have had bad quality control issues with their gibsons. gibsons are exactly the same

It’s pretty apparent that this guy has no idea who he’s talking to. If I ever get a few minutes with Chris Martin I will not limit him to three words or 30 seconds.

"Start with a Ukulele" - This is advise from a 'Martin'; not : buy an affordable but well made guitar that is set up properly, sounds good, can be played for years as your playing advances, purchase a better guitar down the line if necessary (expensive doesn't always mean better), and practice, practice, practice. I just looked at Guitar Center to get a general idea of Martin Ukulele prices. The range is $220.99 (used) to $2359.00 with the average being in the $400.00 to $900.00 dollar range. Yeah, no wonder he wants someone to buy one of these first so one can then make a second and actual guitar purchase of (IMO) an over priced Martin Guitar later. This guy may have a company that makes guitars but seems clueless. He doesn't even seem to understand what "three words" means, but knows whether or not guitar players that like "nicer guitars" like "nicer watches"; I can see it now, someone goes into a guitar store and says that they're looking for a new guitar and the salesperson says "Ok. What kind of watch do you wear and like so I know what range of guitars to show you?". I find that more and more people I talk with don't even buy watches anymore, less need one on the end of their guitar to see the time. Watches built into guitars, what extravagant BS.
