Great question. If possible, I'd start by helping out on any shoots I could. If you have a local film community try connecting with them through social media (a lot of them have Facebook groups) and offering to AD for their shoots. Once you've got some shoots you can put on a resume, I'd then start looking for jobs on places like Mandy.com or Indeed.com. Any paid shoot will want to know you have experience though. I'd also recommend adding any films you work on to IMdB.com which is like a LinkedIn page for filmmakers. Any film professional will look you up there first before hiring. Hope that all helps!
