People give film industry folk who work on sets a hard time for only working between 1/2 to 2/3 of the calendar year and then filing for unemployment the rest, but I guarantee you they work more hours in a year than people who do 40 hour weeks do. It's an exciting industry, but it's absolutely exhausting. They absolutely need that down time. I did a few stints as an on-set PA, and the 4am crew calls until 7 or 8pm at night beat me down and I settled in to animation for work/life balance. How people over 40 can keep that pace amazes me. I have a buddy who did 4 years on Stargate SG-1 and it cost him his marriage with the strain it put on their home life.
Underrated Star Wars film, now people are saying the prequels are better than the sequels, maybe not in visuals but theres a structure, a narrative and continuity. The sequels look like 3 separate films written by filmmakers who didnt agree with what the other had done and had no overall narrative.

Ewan: "it's too early for this shite", LMAO

Ah, looking at a call sheet and going "5:30!!"... the art of filmmaking.
That looks like a very stressful job.
I've done AD work before. It's stressful, tiring...but a whole lot of fun!
Much respect
Unfortunately super high divorce and suicide rate for ADs
Cool to see a little featurette about AD's.
"Morning Mr. Mcgregor."
"Far too early for this shit!"
Those Naboo soldiers look good.
Always thought that, the mustard yellow ones with the caps is a great design.
Mmmmmmm
Awesome stuff, would be a dream come true to work on Star Wars
Directors run the movie, but A.D.'s really run the SET. Here's to all the A.D.'s out there.
This job definitely takes a bit of your soul away
Behind the scenes stuff like this is so good to see.
It’s far too early for this
Would love to get hold of the picture of the cast and crew taken on the set of Star Wars episode one used to have it but lost my copy
Imagine working 80 hours a week for minimum wage as a PA on a movie franchise that makes billions
I do noticed English workers are much more professional and adequate than American workers. At least then.

Episode 1 has always been my fav :)
As much as I love Movies and Filmmaking, being an AD would thoroughly destroy any joy I could find in the artform.
Thumbnail looks like the dude!
is that Sofia Coppola @ 5:03 ?
Nice catch. Her father was friends with George Lucas and she got to be an extra. She's one of the queen's handmaidens or something like that.
23 years ago. Where are they now?
This entire AD department went on to have amazing careers. They're probably reminded of this video regularly whilst on set.

I hope they have at least a 45 minute lunch
30
each time I've done ADing I don't think I had 45mn of lunch over an entire week of shooting !
190th like mine!
I hope they got paid well. The actors didnt lol.
4:20 Is it Natalie Portman or Keira Knightley?
In the black? It's probably Keira.
If you worked on Star Wars, I HAVE to sub you!
They make it look so easy...like a walk in the park lol 😂
Hahaha Exactly!
Please I’m in search of a job as an assistant director, any help would be appreciated 😭😭
I saw thumbnail and brain went “LOOK AT THIS PHOTOGRAPH” 😂😂😭
