To be clear I'm not even saying that it's bad to incorporate the opening in the OST, far from it, but GT has like thirty billion different renditions of Dan Dan which make up like half the OST tracks, or at least I remember the show playing some version of Dan Dan in pretty much every episode, Z and og DragonBall did this too of course but not to the extreme levels GT did, but maybe it's just my own faulty childhood memories gaslighting me.

Guys, there is no canon in Dragonball, so no character or form can be made canon. Dragon Ball has several timelines, in the original anime trilogy DBGT is officially part of it, in the manga DBS is the sequel, although DBS is its own universe because it is based on the film "Battle of the Gods".
Toriyama's ego won't let it be a thing because he didn't create it. Toriyama is not a good person. He literally doesn't care for his fans and fans of his work, just money. Oh shit he died. RIP.
