I never comment on UA-cam, but this one has my fingers typing. No one in history can sing like this, not even with crossed arms. Shivers down my spine for sure.
I never thought I’d see this. I interviewed Maria backstage at Pebble Mill that day. I don’t remember much about it except that she was very cool and laidback company.
This one is so different, i absolutely love the very surprising n awesomely pulled off whispering n silky smoothness, on the other hand i so much love the equally brilliant versions from the studio and her omg live at top of the pops recordings in the early 90’s. That untamed force, raw yet polished controlled still right on the limit just spot on, of nature just blows u away and the mysterious different voices let’s say almost horrorlike element to it. Reminds me of jeff buckley (rip) and his hallelujah many different voices. Both singers sing their songs so unique and intense (her eyes can be as well intimidating such a strong woman) but never sounds forced. Fits them wonderfully well. Good chance only they can pull of that multidimensionality i’d call it. Keep up the good work and stay happy and healthy mariah and true to your very special splendid self.
Genius...right there. Saw LJ at the iconic Marquee club, London and Maria solo, several times. Think my favourite, was The Arches, Glasgow '96. I can still picture it...I was totally blown away...3/4 rows back, from Maria's captivating persona and sublime vocals...just doesn't get any better than that.
You were so lucky to see her live so many times and at the Marquee, fantastic. I missed the Arches gig, for some reason, even though I was in the area at the time. Did you know Maria lived in Glasgow for a while, Battlefield, Langside area, the same street as Sharleen from Texas.
@@ScottishTeeVee I didn't know about Maria living in Glasgow...knew she was based in Ireland for a while...if memory serves, saw the Arches gig and then Assembly rooms, Edinburgh the same week. At the Marquee gig, Cyndi Lauper joined LJ, for a song. My two favourite singers, sharing a stage...wowza !
Saw Maria a few times myself, first time promoting her first solo album in a little theatre in London, last time was at the Liquid Room in Edinburgh, a good few years ago now...always fantastic, the best voice out there
@@Michael-mm3fm Some coincidence that we both saw Maria in London & Edinburgh...wudda been at the Liquid gug too, for sure bar work away...any idea on dates ?
@@underock4 haha, not really, well I saw her with a mate at the T&C and we thought she looked alarmingly slim and I remember his shouting between two songs “Get some good dinners down you!”. Hmm well it was funny at the time. I’m fairly sure it was the You Gotta Sin tour at that time, when was that album released? Hold on...1993. As far as Liquid Room goes, I don’t think it was an album tour, but it was sometime between 2002 and 2005. Yes what a coincidence! Did you see her on LiS tour? I was still in London, saw her at SB Empire. Less than half full, but some gig. But then, what an album.
Oh my gosh! Maria is showing me heaven! I’ve followed her since Lone Justice and lucky enough to meet her in Tower Records in Glasgow many years ago. My favourite singer of all time by a country mile.
@@williamhastie5056 Yes it was, Ally and Maria lived on one side of the street, almost above a good Ice Cream parlour and on the opposite side of the street at the other end lived Sharleen. Glad you are enjoying the channel.
@@ScottishTeeVee It’s brilliant. I bumped into Ally in Shawlands about a year or so after White On Blonde came out. He was walking towards me with around six pizza boxes stacked up in front of him nearly blocking his line of vision. You’ll never guess what I was listening to on the portable CD player? You guessed it. White On Blonde. He was laughing his head off when I told him. We chatted a bit. He said they were back in the studio recording demos. I remember saying to him he’d better dash because the pizzas would get cold. Silly wee story but hilarious at the time. Keep up the great work and thanks again.
Maria guess why you came to this planet? Guess!.......guess!...... you been given birth to sing this amazing grace and eventually show us heaven....a simple small thanks to you.
Her body language and the song don't match. She almost bounces at times, and it isn't to the "beat", undetectable though it may be. Then, she crosses her arms tightly across her chest at times. Once, she swiped her nose with her hand while she was singing. Maybe she has allergies, or perhaps she was cold. Hopefully, she doesn't always do this.

Maria hehe
Great quality and what a find 👍👏👏 Such an underrated artist
Couldn't agree more!
She refused to compromise her art. I am biased when I say she is one of the greatest singer/songwriters.

Amazing song and singer.

She lived in Glasgow, in Battlefield area, it was a nice big flat.
Thanks for that. 👍 Was that around the time she was going out with Ally McErlaine from the band Texas? Brilliant channel. Thanks for posting.

I’m sure she did the same acoustic version on Wogan, about the same time. Literally struck dumb by the beauty of it.
I could have sworn she was on Wogan, but I can't find the recording of it, if I do it will appear on here
Nearly 30 years ago
I want to learn this song
Does anyone know why there is more than one lyrical variation of this song? Why the changes were made and which is the original?
3:28 they cut off her mic too early, thus her look of unhappiness. Brilliant performance, though…
Can't believe Maria had to put up with being critiqued by Alan Titchmarsh!
Tom Jones in Cardiff June 17th
Anyone out there happen to know who the bass player is on I'm Gonna Soothe You. She's an ACE on the bass.
Susan Autin
Thank you!@@julianneparker3143
Have ye got any Dick Gaughan live there Bigman?
I'm getting tired of the ones on YT.
Sorry, absolutely nothing by Dick Gaughan
Could I see Tom Jones in Cardiff last night
