This chromebook appears to have a soldered in SSD so firstly I would try to find if there is a TPM protection screw, switch, or button. Then I would disconnect the battery for 15 minutes plug the chromebook directly into the charger without the battery and then try to enter developer mode with esc, refresh, power. Let me know if that works! If not I am always open to getting emails to see if we can figure it out further!
@@itsyaboivoid Most people don't have BGA reflow stations, FPGA dev boards, or the pinout for that specific TPM to to flash it. This would work for every chromebook but requires a lot more work but if it's popular I could look into a service. Ship me your chromebook and for $50 I will unenroll it. Would anyone consider this?
would swapping the drive with a modern one on an outdated chromebook allow me to update my chromebook to more recent updates? I have an old acer Chromebook and can't install/update any downloads because the chromebook itself doesn't support it and because the auto updates have finally ended. Technically no but I find it safer and easier to swap the drive than use the existing one. In case you need software for tests or a reason to be enrolled you can do it on the fly by having 2 drives

Hey, I have a NL71CT-L chromebook from CTL. The laptop was given to me by am organization, but the administrator is a public library. I want to know how to bypass the forced enterprise enrollment. I can give you more details if needed. I can use the laptop of course to watch UA-cam videos, Google stuff etc. But there are limitations and restrictions. Please help. I've tried every workaround like factory resetting it, try to access developers mode which is not possible obviously. Nothing has helped. The chromebook was given to me fresh out the box, so it's not stolen. Please help. I can't download any apps on it or anything of that nature.
Hello, I've never personally seen this laptop but looking at the specs online you won't be able to swap the SSD as it's soldered on. If you want I can send you my email and you can send a picture of the PCB and I can see if I can figure out how to unenroll it. Purely speculation but I think it will have a TPM protection screw you need to take out while connected to AC power only with the battery disconnected will allow dev mode to be enabled

@@youngflash1015 There should be a model number sticker or engraving somewhere on the device. Check the bottom and google the serial number if it doesn't say the model number

I have the same laptop. Bought it off Marketplace. Turns out, it was likely stolen from a local library years ago. Its still somewhat usable, but I'd rather not have the management. Dev mode is locked "by system policy" and it has force re-enroll, so I don't think there's anything that can be done, short of the original administrator deprovisioning it - which I've reached out to the library but not heard back yet. Hello Sam, before continuing with this process, would this work on a pre-locked chromebook? As in the original owners (a school) had locked the chromebook. I was hoping this would apply to such a situation
@@RandomAccount46 Hello, so in your case it would work best to download ChromeOS to a thumb drive and replace the M.2 drive inside. This will install a fresh version of ChromeOS and remove the enrollment
You can try taking the battery out and waiting 15 minutes. Then plug the chromebook into the charger without reconnecting the battery and try to powerwash with esc+refresh+power
@@SAMSTRECKER Hey taking the battery out does not let the Chromebook start even when it is plugged in and if I leave it on and then take out the battery it still won't restart I made a mistake as well its an Acer c781 series.
I've had mines in a closet for months because it got stuck into a boot loop and then I forgot what I did, I think I was trying to flash something to try and fix this problem when it got bricked. Would this just be a main problem with the drive or would it entail something different is wrong? Something to add as well, when I press the refresh key and power button nothing happens except the little light blinks momentarily once and turns off.
@@basedrojas8231 yeah it sounds like you corrupted your OS. You’ll need another PC to download the chromeOS from the Google store to create a bootable installer to put chromeOS back on it

@@mikestepz3945 Okay sweet if it's a chromebox then all you need is to find an M.2 SSD to swap with the original drive. When you open the computer there will be a wifi M.2 card, thing with two wires connected to it, and then below it the M.2 SSD. You will want to replace the M.2 SSD below the wifi card with a new drive. This should get rid of any enrollment they have.

Hello, try removing or disconnecting the battery for 15 minutes. It may clear the TPM and remove the lock. After powerwashing don't allow the chromebook to connect to the internet. This also may allow it to boot without the admin lock

Yeah swapping the motherboard is the easiest and least invasive option if the drive is soldered. When it is time to return the device just swap the old motherboard back in
Yes but you will loose your enrollment. Sometimes a school may require enrollment for standardized testing so it's nice to have the original drive. Know there will be a test that day just pop in the old drive for the day and then swap it when you get home
Hello, this chromebook uses a soldered SSD. So your best bet is to disconnect the battery and wait 15 minutes. Then plug the computer in directly to the charger and see if you can enable dev mode and power wash it. If that doesn't work I might be able to find a schematic for the Infineon SLB9655TT1.2 TPM it uses and short the pins to clear it.
The little chip is the M.2 SSD. M.2 is the form factor for the SSD. There is one screw on the top that holds it down and you pull it out sorta like RAM slots
It depends on the model of chromebook. But some have a screw that acts like a switch. If there is contact it's held in a 1 state so protection is on. If you remove it, the switch is flipped to 0 and protection is disabled

Unfortunately the SSD is soldered onto the motherboard for that chromebook. I would try the battery/screw method first then we can see what works from there!

Yes anyone can do this! It can be intimidating the first time for sure but there's no reason to be scared! Just follow a couple rules of thumb and you'll never expose yourself or the chromebook to danger. The main things to consider are, work on a clear surface to prevent spills, never touch the screw driver across multiple solder points to prevent short circuiting, the bottom cover is held with plastic tabs so sometimes it feels like they are going to break but they won't, and finally just take your time! There's no rush and no sense in making mistakes trying to. You got this!
How would I unenterprise enroll a hp g4 chromebook? Same method or does it require soldering? Also I heard somewhere that taking cmos out for a minute and putting it back in would register it with a new serial number unenterprising it. Do you know if that would be true or false?
The SSD is soldered and yes the CMOS method would still work, or at least easy to try. While chromebooks don't have a tradational CMOS button cell battery they still might have a capacitor that holds charge from the battery. So when you disconnect the battery this capacitor discharges slowly and when empty the brains of the enrollment are effectively wiped or reset.
@@SAMSTRECKER I was told the same for a hp g8 ee but not 100% sure if true. I was told to just remove the battery for 30 seconds to a minute and put it back in and it would wipe the enrollment

@@Skye_227 You don't technically have to buy a new M.2 SSD but it's nice to have a backup of the original for two reasons. You might need the chromebook enrolled for standardized testing so on those days just pop the old drive in before school. Secondly there might be data on the drive you don't want to delete so having a backup is nice
Yes but they are less likely to work or more specialized. You can try disconnecting the battery internally for 15 minutes then plugging the computer directly into the charger. Then you can try powerwashing and it may remove the protection and wipe the TPM protecting the enrollment. Make sure to sign in with a personal account first and not your domains email as it will auto enroll itself again

If the school/company did an awful job at enrolling/locking it, you could get lucky just doing that/control refresh d/a powerwash. But realistically, you have to if you're lucky enough your chromebook is supported under a complicated crack/exploit that factory resets the hard drive through usb boot. Or if that doesn't work, you will have to do this video/remove the harddrive and do other motherboard tampering. Or you could have a newer chromebook that's fully patched altogether.
Would this fix the issue im having? I power washed it chromebook but it get a message thats say " this chromebook is locked by the administration" will this solve that problem. Never but a laptop from a crackhead😂

Honestly best to try to install a custom uefi on it by flashing it on the chip with hardware

@@mikestepz3945 Okay sweet if it's a chromebox then all you need is to find an M.2 SSD to swap with the original drive. When you open the computer there will be a wifi M.2 card, thing with two wires connected to it, and then below it the M.2 SSD. You will want to replace the M.2 SSD below the wifi card with a new drive. This should get rid of any enrollment they have.

Hello, try removing or disconnecting the battery for 15 minutes. It may clear the TPM and remove the lock. After powerwashing don't allow the chromebook to connect to the internet. This also may allow it to boot without the admin lock
So what happens if you try to change out the m.2 drive and boot Chromeos from a usb?

Yeah swapping the motherboard is the easiest and least invasive option if the drive is soldered. When it is time to return the device just swap the old motherboard back in

Yes but you will loose your enrollment. Sometimes a school may require enrollment for standardized testing so it's nice to have the original drive. Know there will be a test that day just pop in the old drive for the day and then swap it when you get home

Hello, this chromebook uses a soldered SSD. So your best bet is to disconnect the battery and wait 15 minutes. Then plug the computer in directly to the charger and see if you can enable dev mode and power wash it. If that doesn't work I might be able to find a schematic for the Infineon SLB9655TT1.2 TPM it uses and short the pins to clear it.
So i unplug it for 15 mins then plug it back in and THEN put the charger in?

The little chip is the M.2 SSD. M.2 is the form factor for the SSD. There is one screw on the top that holds it down and you pull it out sorta like RAM slots

Yes but you will need a bootable hard drive with an OS on it

It depends on the model of chromebook. But some have a screw that acts like a switch. If there is contact it's held in a 1 state so protection is on. If you remove it, the switch is flipped to 0 and protection is disabled

You can first try unplugging the battery and waiting 15 minutes. Then plug the computer directly into the charger and try to power wash it

Yes anyone can do this! It can be intimidating the first time for sure but there's no reason to be scared! Just follow a couple rules of thumb and you'll never expose yourself or the chromebook to danger. The main things to consider are, work on a clear surface to prevent spills, never touch the screw driver across multiple solder points to prevent short circuiting, the bottom cover is held with plastic tabs so sometimes it feels like they are going to break but they won't, and finally just take your time! There's no rush and no sense in making mistakes trying to. You got this!
How would I unenterprise enroll a hp g4 chromebook? Same method or does it require soldering? Also I heard somewhere that taking cmos out for a minute and putting it back in would register it with a new serial number unenterprising it. Do you know if that would be true or false?
The SSD is soldered and yes the CMOS method would still work, or at least easy to try. While chromebooks don't have a tradational CMOS button cell battery they still might have a capacitor that holds charge from the battery. So when you disconnect the battery this capacitor discharges slowly and when empty the brains of the enrollment are effectively wiped or reset.
@@SAMSTRECKER I was told the same for a hp g8 ee but not 100% sure if true. I was told to just remove the battery for 30 seconds to a minute and put it back in and it would wipe the enrollment

Hello, first I would try disconnecting the battery for 15 minutes and plugging it directly into the charger without the battery plugged in inside. It should power on and may allow you to enter dev mode and power wash.

You might need the chromebook enrolled for standardized testing so on those days just pop the old drive in before school. Secondly there might be data on the drive you don't want to delete so having a backup is nice

Then you can try powerwashing and it may remove the protection and wipe the TPM protecting the enrollment. Make sure to sign in with a personal account first and not your domains email as it will auto enroll itself again

Just press esc refresh power and press Ctrl d enter enter and boot your computer and it will be unenrolled
If the school/company did an awful job at enrolling/locking it, you could get lucky just doing that/control refresh d/a powerwash. But realistically, you have to if you're lucky enough your chromebook is supported under a complicated crack/exploit that factory resets the hard drive through usb boot. Or if that doesn't work, you will have to do this video/remove the harddrive and do other motherboard tampering. Or you could have a newer chromebook that's fully patched altogether.
