  • Remember when I won a PSP out of the Stacker arcade game? I won an iPod Touch out of the same machine! I didn't think I was going to win, or else I would have recorded the gameplay too. Oh well, next time...

    Here's how stacker games work:
The machine is waiting for sufficient money to be inside. If there's not, you will always lose (look it up). If there is, you will win the price.

Stacker games are set up to only allow an expensive prize to be won after a set amount of money has been deposited. When you get to the top level it will shift your block even if your dead on if machine did not reach set input. Same goes for claw machines except it adjusts force of grab.

I agree, it looks like it would break the screen falling from that high. Looks like the owners of those Stacker machines would make the prize box at the bottom soft & foamy for prizes to land on / in, instead of a hard surface like that.

yep it probably took around 100-150 tries to get major prize as for the higher the price of the objects in the machines the more times you would have to try to actually get it so even if its aligned perfectly the machine will just notch it over a brick

My older brother bought a 3ds from gamestop in May. My parents found out in July about it. Caring more about not getting hit than $170, he threw away the entire, unopened box, which was pointless. He got in trouble buying it without permission. So, why would he buy a 3ds, not open it, nor want it? His answer was that he bought it for my little brother's birthday, which is on 2/14. It's still unopened in our house. His birthday was on 12/4 (he turned 19). He got $100. The 3ds is still unopened.

Well stacker is programed to only let the player win after a certain amount of plays, for example the most common one is after 200 plays.

used to work in arcade and there is controls inside to set it to the amount the machine has to take before you even get a win claw machines are notorious for it the big ones I used to work with that had giant teddies inside had to be set to 50 quid before it would pick it up.

Mosy if the time phone apps(with is what a Ipod Touch uses, Iphone apps) don't break 25MB, and the vast amount are far smaller. Even Angry Birds is only 40MB and that size is pretty big for a phone app, and the largest I've seen by far only takes up 140MB.

I found out that the game was rigged because on the last layer, the moment you precise the stop, it shifts one square to the left, I believe. I spent like $15 trying to win a 3ds. Never got it, although I already have one unopened since may. Don't ask why, that's a story for another time.

LOL same here, I never win anything in arcades either, unless it is knocking over something, that is if they don't use super glue. I agree with you though, people know their chances of winning is very, very low, yet they play anyway in the hopes of winning something very expensive. Its a good idea to have stuff like this, it could bring in some serious amount of cash.

I remember wasting so much money on these type of machines in arcades and I never won anything. Its pure luck if you win, even if you win, the machine already made enough profit from others. Stacker was proved to a be scam though, there is a video that proves it in super slow-motion.

  • @TheUltimateHobo

the machine is programmed by the owner to cheat people of prizes until it collects a certain amount of money. thats how they make money and it would really suck for them if someone won something expensive when the machine only has several bucks in it so this is necessary. there is a one is about 2000 chance you will be the lucky person to play with 500 bucks already in the machine

No. You've (possibly deliberately) completely misunderstood.
"Do bears shit in the woods?" is a phrase that means "yes of course the answer to what you said is 'yes' it's obvious" another version is "is the pope catholic". The phrase does not take zoos into account, it probably originated before zoos. Zoos create wood-like habitats for bears, so that counts anyway.

These games are rigged in order of payout time. Once the money in the machine is equal to the amount that the highest prize is worth, the final stacker block will actually act normal without the illusion of the light skip. When it's not time for it to pay out, it will look as if it's aligned properly, but the light actually goes and re lights a block past itself making it seem as if you missed, when most likely you didn't.
