I collected all these 1:16 tanks when I had the chance never letting these go. Great video, love the cat. I also have wittmann's 007 tank also.

Now, having the REAL tiger jump up there to check out the model Tiger was quite perfect!

Excellent, comprehensive review of the FOV 1/16 Tiger I #222. The cat's appearance was an additional plus---many years ago, we had a neighborhood cat that was always hanging around waiting for us to feed it and looked very similar to the cat in the video. I once saw a documentary or a reference book which stated that contrary to popular belief, Wittman was in a different Tiger at Villers-Bocage, not #222.

Were fire extinguishers red before 1950? Great kit. Looks like a remake of the Hatchet partwork Tiger1.

Just stumbled on this and have to ask; if this was made in 2006 and most of the research that led to the commonly held belief that Tiger 212 was Wittmann's vehicle at VB was public by 2005 why not change the number? I refer specifically to the fact that the photographs of Wittmann's Tiger knocked on in VB show a monocular sight, whereas all photos of 222 in Normandy show a binocular sight. There are other differences between the two vehicles but that's the obvious one. This subject has been debated at great length as you probably know, but as Ron Volstad and most the community of tiif, missing-lynx and so on have accepted this as likely it seems odd to market something like this with the wrong turret number.
Here is a famous image of Tiger 222

And here is Wittmann's tank knocked out in VB.

    They can't be the same.

I am sure this debate will go on. The irritating fact, as always, is that none of the photos of the disabled Tiger in VB show the turret number. Oh to go back in time and ask that photographer to get that little bit closer. I have always run with 222, as it was listed as one of the vehicles that was serviceable and available in the hours before the attack (ref. Agte).
I think it all comes down to various interpretations and processes of elimination. 222. 212. 232. 231. I have seen theories for all of them being there at that time. I have long favoured the 222 angle. Though yes, the monocular/binocular sight difference is an issue.
The discussions will go on, no doubt - as will those about Wittmann's death. Which makes it all more interesting of course.

Super model, but very hard to get here in the UK these days. I love how the cat gets in as well Lol! Perhaps he should have his own you tube channel!

The Tiger I tank will always hold a special place in my heart because it was the main reason that got me intrigued in the engineering and history of these armored vehicles. Just curious; can this particular model open up like the German King Tiger version? (no 85001)
It would be so cool to see the inside of this beast and to see what made this kitty PURR xD

Rick may I ask, is the 222 more of a favorite then the 007 as far as history?I say the 222.

    • @redline6261
      @redline6261  7 років тому

Yes, I'd agree. Mainly because 222 (well, some may disagree with all of the turret number issues) was part of a successful mission while 007 was not...

Aw man, I want one of these full metal die cast 1/16 tanks so bad but I can't find anything, anywhere. I found one for I think a few thousand, I don't think that's very reasonable, but do you know of other more realistic ways of finding these for sale? I was far too young to get one of these nearly ten years ago.

Tough to find these days, yes. I saw a couple in eBay some time back for around £500 each, but I think they went pretty quickly.

Yes, I would day so on account of it being the more 'succesful' vehicle. Both 1/16 pieces are great though.

These ones were limited editions, but they did roll out a Sherman not long after. Nothing recent in the 1/16 though.

    • @redline6261

Fully die-cast, with some plastic components. Finding one is getting harder, but items do become available periodically. Generally you would be looking at four figures in US dollars.
