Where did you get your dress? I'm trying to transition my wardrobe to more modest and functional. I'm having difficulty finding dresses. Since I live tiny, I'm avoiding sewing.
@@dawnbaker9274 this dress I got from a shop online called Maya’s Place. They sell a lot of very nice modest clothing
@@jaroffirefliesDear Chana. Did you switch from tea in the morning to coffee or do you change it up from time to time?
@@LeaSonnenscheinTrier I mostly drink coffee right now in the morning :)
@@jaroffireflies Thanks for your response. I find it so interesting the different routines and personal preferences. Wish you peaceful mornings with a drink you like and enjoy.
That salt container is stunning!
Love the library too📚📚📚
Thank yo so much!
I've been homeschooling for almost 20 years. We have an online database for all of our books, so that I can access it from thrift stores, book stores, and library sales. Categories can be good, but they're constantly changing! I just have extra columns to stick those into. It's been a big help!
Love that! I am sure this will be a game changer at sales too. Just last week I bought Tale of Two Cities, twice lol
Simple Dewey Decimal System in the home and on the shelves.
Hi Chana, I am a library volunteer here in Cuernavaca, Mexico. Our book sales are always well attended and the volunteers love seeing people walk out with armloads of bargain priced books and big smiles on their faces. A big HOLA to you and your family.
Hola! So fun! Thanks for sharing!
Our library sells paperbacks for 50 cents each! Sometimes, they'll drop their prices to 25 cents! I always check out our "Friends of the Library" sale room when I go!
Wow that’s great!!!
First, as a fellow Orthodox person, I just love the way you explain things in our religion. You are such a smart, informed, humble, positive, joyous example of an Orthodox Jew. I love that you are part of our community and that you have this channel.
Second, living in Israel, I don't have much access to Trader Joe's. What spices are in the salmon rub? I make salmon all the time and could make my own spice mix, if I know what to include. Thanks.
Thank you so much for your kind words! I really appreciate you :) This is what I found online about the salmon rub: Made with a base of brown sugar, and supported with seasonings like smoked paprika, dried thyme, kosher salt and black pepper. Hope that helps!
I loved the opening, even with the pile of laundry on the table you sat down and gave yourself the gift of time, to read and pray to start your day on a loving path. 🥰🙏
Thank you Donna :)
I love your home library content❤
Yay! So happy to hear that!
I ❤ library stuff. Your videos are never boring. I learn something new with every video! Thank you for sharing. Shalom
Thank you so very much :)
I’ve watched your channel for a good while now, I’m definitely a silent fan I don’t comment or interact much in the comments. But I appreciate your content very much. My husband and I are not religious people but I find so much comfort and curiosity watching your content. And I always find myself watching your videos when I feel like my life is very chaotic, the calmness of your videos brings a comfort i can’t describe. And even though I’m not religious I find learning Judaism fascinating and love learning about it! Currently expecting my husband and I’s first little one and love the insight you give to motherhood!
Thank you so much for the lovely comment! Congratulations on expecting your first little one! That is so exciting!!!!
Island of the Blue Dolphins was my favorite book! I hope your kids enjoy it! Thank you for sharing your life with us! ❤️
Thank you for being here!
I'm excited about your new library system! Keep us informed!
Will do!
Chana, I admire your organization skills! You have made a beautiful home for you and your family 💕
Thank you so much! :)
Glad you are home 🏡 from your holiday you look relaxed. Watching Baby Firefly 👶 running in the library brings back memories of little dude running. Time really flies ❤❤Ireland
It flies so fast!
My friend in California told me she loves it when we get to rambling in our messenger conversations. She says it's a woman thing because our minds are so jam packed with ideas, kids events, homeschool, housework, etc. I enjoy your rambling!
Our minds are so full lol
“I’m terrible at making sourdough bread” she says, and then proceeds to make a gorgeous loaf 😂
But its so flat LOL and my dough is ridiculous, it won't shape. I am determined to learn though!
Iris loves the library and it is combined with an art gallery so we always go upstairs and wander through the exhibits. I never did that with my own kids because I thought that you had to 'know' about art but we simply walk and look and when she or I find something we are interested in, we stop and chat about it. It is so stress free and now Iris feels very comfortable in there and at the library. She also has her own card, like your kids, and it makes her feel special. I think it is a lovely thing for kids to do and clever of libraries to help promote interest in borrowing. Those books were all fabulous finds and all the classic, older publications. The Dell Yearling editions are a great find. Yay Chana!
Oh I love that! I wish we had more art close by that I could take the kids to. For now we have our artist studies at home though and that will need to do.
@@jaroffireflies it's funny that I haven't done that yet with her because of the library/art gallery but I did find a Renoir book for kids at a charity shop. We started by looking at the one of the 2 girls at the piano. I think I can do this!
@@catherinenunan3584 you can!!!
I was in a really sad mood. Sad glad this popped up.
❤️❤️❤️
I've been baking. Long time but just started learning sourdough in January. It's so much fun!
It really is!
Hi Chana. The Pollyanna book is indeed an abridged version, rewritten for children as an introduction to the "real" book. I had several books in the same series when I was young. I recognized the cover style immediately. If I recall correctly, some or all of them are rewritten by ghostwriters; they tell the same stories as the "real" equivalents, but they're quicker, easier reads with simpler language and such. Enjoy your books! 📚
Thank you! Yes, once I got home I realized it was abridged. I have mixed feelings about abridged books, but I don't mind them.
Im making bread today too😊. I used the gluten free pamela bread mix with my extra ingredients. The house smells great🎉
Amazing!
Oh, cute! Your little one eating his cookie first!! ❤
Always lol
Hey I'm quite new here and I am loving loving your videos! I keep going back to your old ones as well to make sure I dont miss them...... I would love to see Bella more in your videos... Thank you keep 'em coming!
Thank you so much for your kind words and welcome! I’m so glad you’re here!
I love library sales! My library will sell books for 25 cents for a paperback and 75 cents for a hardcover. Definitely the best deal on books, even better than the thrift store.
I've been doing Sourdough for a year now, and my first couple loaves were rough. I've learned so much about Sourdough that I feel so much more comfortable with it now than the beginning. I love that you're setting that example for your kids--to push through something hard until you master it.
25 cents is amazing! I wish our sale was like that lol
I just came across your site and you are a absolute joy to watch. You have a beautiful smile and would make a wonderful school teacher for kids everywhere. I don't know very much about Judaism but you explain everything so well. I'm looking forward to watching more of your videos and hopefully some of your contagious joy will rub off on me. I think you are so sweet and amazing. I think I might try Drift. ❤❤❤❤
Thank you so much Patty! And welcome! I’m so happy you’re here!
@@jaroffireflies thanks for such wonderful videos.
@@pattyhaley2949 my pleasure!
That lunch and dinner so so delicious, I love the sound baby firefly makes he so cute ❤
❤️❤️❤️
Omg Chana, I should send you the spreadsheet that Colby ( my son) has made with all the books he has and wants. It has on it when he got the book when he's read it and when he was away at university if it was with him or at home. Crazy. So we are here for all the library stuff, lol. When my kids were little, the library was our weekly place. Now they are all in their 20s, and they still go to the library and not just to study but for fun. You are planting roots, my friend. Good job, Momma ❤
Wow that is so fun!!!!
You could have a pretend library at your house with a check out folder and a drop box when they want new books (so they are put back the right way). I just thought of that while you were talking.
So fun! The kids are free to take books and return them as they please, and I have a checkout system for people outside of our family now who borrow our books :)
Would love to see a bookshelf tour when you are finished! 😁
Coming soon!
Glad to see your back home! Love DITL!!❤❤❤
Yay! Thank you!
I really enjoyed your library organisation talk I really love books and no this was not boring to me .
Thank you Linda ❤️
love the library thing! super cool
Thank you!
Sourdough Dutch oven bake: Put the lid on for 25 minutes, then remove the lid for the last 15-20 minutes. 450°
That’s about what I did :) I use Ballerina Farms recipe
Your bread turned out very pretty. ❤
I've started making sour dough bread this year and I'm amazed I've kept the starter alive this long because usually it dies on me.
We love going to the library too and stop by the library friends sale each time they have it. 😁
Thank you! Awesome job on the sourdough starter! I am so nervous about ruining mine lol
I LOVE library book sales!! ❤
Yyesssss
I LOVE Island of the Blue Dolphins and the series
I’m excited to read it again :)
Island of the Blue Dolphins was required reading growing up. I live in Ventura County in California, and the Channel Islands are a few miles off our coast.
Very cool!
I love Lakewood.. so many great stores. ❤
Absolutely!
Love the Mitzvah pads and pens and the reminder to acknowledge when our children/students do good.
Me too :)
Chana, you're an amazing young woman. I don't know how you do everything you do. I look so forward to your uploads. Have a blessed week! ❤
Thank you so much!
I was wondering the same thing! Do you have tips about combining a full-time career and work with running the household? I would love to learn some tips! ❤
That is a great question. I love it. I am going to make a video about it. I just started typing a novella here and deleted it lol because it was sooooo long.
@jaroffireflies thanks, Chana! That would be amazing to hear from you!
My goodness those editions are from when I was a kid.
I love your idea about the online database for your books, I totally need to do that as well. I don't think I have as many books as you, but I am getting there. I loved this video, thanks for the update.
So glad you enjoyed! I definitely recommend LibraryThing, it’s very easy to work with
Ooh! What a wonderful sign to remember to keep words sweet
It really is!
I love Scentbird so much
Its great!
Happy belated Rosh Chodesh Adar 2! What are your Purim plans? We're going to a New York city themed Purim party that the Rabbi and his wife are hosting at the Orlando Science Center which is my grandchildren's absolute favorite place in the world. They can't wait! My youngest keeps asking how many days 😅!
That's such a great haul from Jersey! Love the salt bowl! We were just talking about getting something like this a couple Shabboses ago.
Seeing your laundry pile reminds me of my task for today. Going to try yet another organization for my clothes. I ordered some new clothes for myself and they are being delivered tomorrow or Thursday so I've got to organize what I have before they get here.
I loved taking my daughters and grandchildren to the library and the book sales. My grandchildren are more into digital books now and they organize their own on their phones or computers. Times definitely change!
Baby Firefly is getting so big! Looking back over the years, I can definitely say... don't blink, they grow up so fast 😢 😀!
I am so glad you enjoy the library sales too! Enjoy your organizing and chodesh tov!
Call of the wild and tale of two cities. Brilliant.xx
I volunteered in the library after school and it was my favorite place to go. Your efforts are amazing and your children will appreciate you more than they can say.
Thank you so much! 😊
He has gotten so big!
So fast
Don’t feel alone with your sourdough, I absolutely suck at sourdough even though I’ve tried and tried. I finally found a recipe for 5-minute artisan ok knead bread that can be made up in advance and stored in the fridge for up to two weeks and you on,y pull out the amount you want to use for a meal. I add my sourdough starter in with that recipe and it tastes the same. It’s quick and easy to make and store.
So fun!
Thank you for sharing and explaining the items you brought!
I love learning about new things and where things came from.
Love the book organization too!
I have been on my sourdough journey for a couple of months now.
It is definitely a labor of love.
I love making sandwich bread and chocolate chip cookies with it so far.
I am still learning how to make the Dutch oven sourdough bread.
This week I plan on making bread and muffins with my sourdough starter.
I named her Uno as I wanted to try to only have one to keep alive and use.
@jennelle.v, you gave me a big smile when I read you named your sourdough starter .. I absolutely love it! 🍞
I also love that you named it! I am still trying to think of a good name. I want something yiddish :)
I don't know if I am allowed to say this, but maybe take it to heart. At the end of the video you talk about the weather and combine it with a mental dissease. If you know the couse of mental dissorders, you might consider letting your heart speak. Love the video's by the way! ❤
I agree! I am a psychotherapist and believe we need to be careful as these diagnoses are real and can be super difficult for people. I believe when we know better we do better and I am sure Chana meant no harm with her statement. It is good to bring awareness like you did though. Thank you for gently pointing it out! I make mistakes too and appreciate when someone lets me know to phrase something better. Otherwise, I really enjoyed the video and am so excited for the next one.
@@snowwhitecupcakes272 ❤
I love your tan dress, Chana!! ❤
Thank you!!
You are working with new starter for the sourdough so it looks perfect. It will get fluffier with age.
Good to know thank you
Your daughter looks so adorable in her dress! And baby Firefly running around!! So sweet!! ❤
Thank you!! 😊
Would LOVE to see library updates in the future. I too have over 1000 books and really want to get them sorted on the shelf in a way that makes for easy finding if you need them. Keep up the great work with your videos and enjoy.
Thank you! Stay tuned for an update next week!
The Call of the Wild by Jack London is pretty good book to read. I read this book on the 8th grade.
I remember reading it also and enjoying it
💝 חודש טוב ומבורך.
Chodesh tov!
Island of the Blue Dolphins! Love your book choices!
Thank you!
Wow! I love the library organization! And all the side commentary by No-Longer-Baby Firefly!
Thank you Penelope!
I was just thinking last shabbos that I want a salt dish. Now you’ve inspired me. I loved seeing your piles of laundry. I’m about to tackle mine now. 😅The sour dough bread looks incr”edible”. Great video as usual. 🥰
Glad you enjoyed!
One if my words above was autocorrected, I edited it. I didn’t mean your bread was nice edible. I meant incr”edible” lol and sorry for the error🥹
All good! I knew what you meant :)
You can stop learning how to bake bread - that bread looks delicious!
Aw thank you!
Love that you’re a reader and are inspiring your kids to be readers. One of my favorite memories was when I got my first library card to the county library. It was housed in the high school where my dad taught and he talked the librarian into issuing it a year early.
Love that! I still remember signing my first library card too ❤️❤️❤️
I've always wanted to try my hand at making sour dough bread but I've watched a ton of videos and if I'm being honest it looks really intimidating! It's on my bucket list for 2024 though.
I agree! It’s super intimidating but so yummy! I’m glad I took the plunge
Our library has a yearly book sale that lasts 2 days and is so well attended that people are lined up outside the arena where it's held. Children and adults alike have a ball picking and choosing. Stock up for summer 😊
That's amazing!
I love your relationship with your kids - celebrating what they have done and giving them so much encouragement. ❤
Thank you so much :)
Nice haul of special items from your New Jersey trip. My mom always seemed to have perfection in her baking. Her butter horn rolls were symmetrical and oh, so yummy. For a while during my high school days she would get up and make fresh loaves of bread. Talk about spoiled. She also put up strawberry and apricot jam so, yeah! Luckily we had morning and evening animal care chores or we would have been rollie polly kiddos! That is all to say that I never saw her ever fail at anything she attempted in the kitchen which gave me a bit of a complex. Good for you showing the littles life isn't about perfection and the learning is part of the joy. Thank you for sharing. I'm always inspired by your day in the life. 😘💚
So fun! Thank you for sharing :) So lovely
Your bread looked beautiful!! What a clever idea for the library books!! I'm impressed!!! 😊
Thank you! 😊
Channa, I always enjoy a trip to the library! It has always been my favorite place. My children ,grandchildren and great grandchildren do too. I grew up in a small town in Pennsylvania that is home to the first and still open free public library in our country. Enjoy your channel much.
That is awesome! Thank you for sharing ❤️
Chanita! Just loved seeing how one of your Firefly babies went through the Oreo eating ritual. So sweet!
😊 thank you
Hi Chana! Library sales are the best! As I got older, my children books were taking up too much room and I donated them to my old grade school. I kept one shelf full of my children books for me to enjoy again. I love your organizational ideas and will pass them along to my family members. I also check out thrift stores and yard sales for some great book bargains. As always a p!measure to watch and learn.....
I love that you continue to enjoy your favorites!
What a blessing to grow up with a Mother like you at home.💐
That is so kind of you to say thank you
Actually it's recommended to keep salt during all meals, as a remembrance of the salt on the alter. Love you channel, you're so inspiring!
Thanks for the info!
I love sourdough bread but I have never made it maybe one day. 😊❤
You should!
Your bread looks good. There are a few sourdough groups on Facebook including one on gluten free sourdough bread. I love the item’s that you bought in New Jersey. If I drive about an hour south of me, I can probably find more items than I find where I am living.
Thank you!
I cannot do sourdough bc of histamine reactions. If anyone has allergies you can support your body by following a low histamine diet.
Nothing boring at all!!! It's real life and we greatly enjoy it. Be blessed, enjoy every single moment and if I don't get a chance later, Chag Purim sameach ❤🎉
Thank you ❤️❤️❤️
Good afternoon to everyone☕🤍
The librarys and ludotecas are an amazing places to go with children. The variety of books, activitys... I loved to go with my childs too.
The task of organize your library in this way is so fun and exciting🏫🔖📖📚.
More easy to find a subject of your/their interest. Súper good job!
And the stickers with messages are so nice! This little things make the diference. Posotive suport and motivation is always a good idea.
Thank you for share with all of us😊💕
Bon profit! These sandwiches look so good😋
Thank you so very much!
Your bread looks fabulous. Could go for a warm piece with butter on it. Yummy.
Thank you Lori!
Thank you so much for taking us along. There were so many things about your video that made me happy. I think that you could properly call your beautiful salt container, a salt cellar. It’s wonderful that your children all have their own library cards. My daughter is now in her early 30s and a post doc teaching Shakespeare at a Boston college, but I well remember her practicing printing her first and last name when she was four to get it small enough to fit into the space required by our library, so she could get her very own library card.
Oh a salt cellar! I like that! Thank you!
I am so pleased you devote time to books. Taking the children to the library and having a strong home library at home are both so important to their learning!
Your young son loved reading time, a strong sign he will love reading.
And I had sour dough bread when I visited San Francisco on a trip to visit a relative! It was delicious.
I think you have a very rich life with your family. Judaism is made to feel good and special in your home!
Thank you very much for your kind words and lovely comment :)
I love your sourdough’s design. It showcases your creative, artistic style. I don’t bake bread, but I know of a UA-cam channel, called Farmhouse on Boone. She’s like the Guru of all things sourdough according to people I know who follow her. Maybe some of her tips and tricks can help you perfect your baking skills!
Thank you for your kind words and for the recommendation!
Library organising time is the best ❤
Yes! I wish I would have considered librarian as a career path when I was in college lol
Oh my goodness! you picked up one of my all time favorite books at the library sale 🤩 Island Of The Blue Dolphins is based on a true story in the setting of San Miguel island within the Channel Islands off the coast of central California, now a national park. We live close by and I've had the pleasure of going to the islands many time. I love hiking around, imagining what it must have been like for Karana and her people. What an epic story. I bought my grandchildren copies but have not yet gifted as there are portions that might be a little scary...will hold them until they are young teens. Thank you for your continually great content Chana💜
So cool! Thank you Susan! ❤️
Hi Chana. I always learn something new from you. I love your library and organization method for your books! So terrific!
Thank you 😊
I just went to our Friends of the Library sale. It was five dollars for a large paper bag. All you can fit in a bag . I bought four bags!
THATS AMAZING!!!!
Glad you made it home safely from NJ!!!!
Thank you!
You can never have too many books. I’ve passed my love of books and reading onto my daughter. She’s gotten to be a collector like me. 😂😂😂.
Love that!
It was so nice to see you today missed you last week. I can't wait to see what you picked out for your Purim costume.Have a nice week and a peaceful Shabbat
Thank you for watching! This video was supposed to go up last week but I had technical issues and it took longer to fix then I anticipated so here we are today :) but I enjoyed the week off lol
Chana, my dear. It's always great to see you. I've come out of retirement and have taken a new job, so my days are more filled now. That's a good thing. I'm a productive person so I was getting bored. I want to tell you how much I love how you home school your children. I'm not a religious person so that's not why I say that. I just like it that you are attuned to how your children learn. Baby Firefly is almost not a baby anymore right? Time flies my good friend.
I’m glad you’ve found what makes you happy ❤️
Been trying to get down my bread recipes to an art and trying different ones, yours rose beautifully, have a great rest of your day and thanks for sharing.
Thank you!
i love books and are family swap the read ones with each other , then charity the read ones very interesting again.
That's a great idea!
My cousin is in college in Lakewood! What a small world
So fun! It’s very pretty there :)
I love the library organization! I'm retired from the public library. Blessings!!!
Wonderful!
That sour dough looked amazing! I made bread for the first time over Christmas break. I’m almost ashamed to admit that at my age lol. But I really enjoyed it! I made a simple white sandwich bread but it was still a challenge. I was feeling confident so I made some home made cinnamon rolls too. I heard a lady say that making bread was like “therapy” to her and I totally get it. Best wishes and Gods blessings to you and yours
So fun! Thank you for sharing!
I just started my sourdough era too! It took me months to get my starter going but I’ve successfully made 2 loaves. Very exciting!
That is awesome!
I have a similar tehillim book but a collection of 10 special pereks together. I love the coloring and how elegantly it's put together! Glad you had a good trip and could stock up! I live about an hour from there and love to go there too. Did you go to Bingo?
I didn’t make it to Bingo but it’s been on my list to go!
That’s an ambitious library project! Congratulations!
Thanks so much! 😊 It was a huge project but after about a week or so we are all done!
Enjoyed watching your trip to Lakewood, NJ & your return to Texas. In my Brooklyn, NY neighborhood many use sour dough in the place of a challah for Shabbat.
Very cool! We used it sometimes by my sister (in law) for Shabbat
Good morning Firefly Family! I am so jealous of your library system! I don't have enough physical books to do that system, so maybe I just need to buy more books. Your sourdough looks wonderful, and it is so neat that you are continuing to learn and show your kids the importance of lifelong learning.
Thank you for sharing. Have a wonderful week!
Yes! Buy more books!!! LOL
I wish I could fine some good shopping in the Houston area
