The 7 Honestly Deserve The R62as But, since CBTC is Currently activated, I can understand that the r62as cant go on the 7 line because of that. But its just sad to see the r62as leaving on the 7 line except for 4 or 5 cars as work train.
SuperYoshiFan10090 Studios Why do we care about looks and aesthetics? What we need to worry about is service frequency and reliability. It doesn’t matter how one line looks with a certain car type when the trains don’t run on time.
The R62 style was my all time favorite train growing up first time seeing and riding them on the 3 & 4 Lines awesome childhood memories sad to see the gone on the 7 line
Adleast you will see the R62AS back on the Pelham 6 line and definitely on the 1 Shuttle 42 street Times square. The Whole entire Lexington Avenue is getting the brand new R262/as for CBTCS and the shuttle is definitely getting the brand new R262as . Most people miss the R142as on the Pelham 6 line.
The Ice Ninja Nation 2 I liked them. The had the nice looking suspenders, rollsigns and the green circle (red diamond too). R62 is nice on the 3 line. I like the r62 best I think since the interior is nice and a warmer soft white color. Sometimes it could be in railfan window configuration as well. But I don’t remember that on the 3 line.
I'm curious, when the r62s are replaced by the r262s, what will happen to some of them. Their old redbird work cars are starting to show their age, and the r62s are just a newer and more modern r33s redbird, and the r127/134 garbage train motors ,and r65 pump cars are based on the r62 design. Might see a lot of r62s remain in service on maintenance duty
back when I little in 2010 when my family moved to here in new york city I remember my time on the 7 line it was r62a and miss the r62a today but the r188 is okay
Gelaisa Williams They won’t go back to the 7 train. The line will be dominated by R188s, which IS compatible with the new CBTC system in place, which will allow for the MTA to increase train service on the 7 line (and the line will get 14 trains added to the schedule).
Im takeing a huge Guess here but when the R142A went into service on the 6 the MTA Moved R62A's on the 6 to the 7 that way they could retire the red birds. Just a guess but good chance what the MTA was thinking
Sonic 57053 Sorry. Also, just because you’ll expect one of the Genius Challenge winners implement their idea of automating their entire fleet does not mean that they will send the original equipment back to where it came from.
It will be impossible because R62A aren't capable for CBTC since CBTC is only for NTT including R160 R143 R142A R142 and R179. Plus for future R211 subway cars.
The MTA may send them back if CBTC is deactivated but I mean it just impossible. Their may be a way to send R62A on the 7 line for any cause such as damaged R188 or I don't know but I mean no Ideas yet for how to put R62A on the 7 line but for now it just an imagination.
Great one. I will miss one of my childhood train. It was nice having them while it lasted
yep
The first train I ever rode was the R46 R train
So true, so true.
I remember the r62 was the first train to go the 34th st Hudson Yards with Mayor Bloomburg being escorted with it.

Quite a coincidence that I saw a full 10-car set make it's return to 7 line grounds today. It was most likely headed to Corona Yard for work service.
How many singles are left? Is there enough to link them into five-car sets?
There are only 7 cars at Corona, possibly even less now.
9 leftover single units: 5 are currently parked at the refuse area of the yard (Corona), with 4 used as mainline refuse

It’s because the new trains don’t have colorful destination signs.
