1)Long burning candles in a jar actually put out a lot of heat, will burn for days, a Jesus candle for up to a week.
2)Mr. Heater Buddy heater runs on canister or can be hooked up to 20# propane cylinder. In a small space it actually gets too hot, can be run even longer just using the pilot light. Start up on low, when the car is heated up turn it down to the pilot light, stay warm enough to dawn.
3)Dress in layers including thermal underwear = light weight, not cumbersome, and warm.
4)Zero degree sleeping bag reflects body heat you can zip up mummy style bag up around your head if needed. Even a 20° F bag might be warm enough in the desert.
5)Wear a headband, 80% of heat escapes through the head. You would look good in one.
Wool blankets and hand warmers!!!
Wool blanket over the down
Stay safe and warm
Get a converter that hooks onto your battery and use a 1500 watt heater.
Have a co/converter monitor/ alarm and keep your engine running.
There's a Mexican food truck across from dollar general and it's great!! Check it out!! The beauty salon showers are $5. Also, I'm sure Mark can help you with your van and solar/generator (for free of course) when we get back if you still need it. He can fix anything and enjoys helping people. Stay warm...
Hope you got all your stuff fixed. I love watching your videos. You are such an inspiration for living your best life and your funny AF. Take care, stay warm and thank you for keeping us entertained and motivated 🩷🧡💙🩵💚💛
Hi Alyssa - try putting wool blankets under your sheets - like the Navy or Army type of blankets. Wool is a very good insulator.
Look into the Unhide blankets, super warm
Hey Alyssa, I love seeing videos from [brave] females on their solo van/RV life exploring the world, something I would love to do one day! But the way NYC have my trust levels set up 🥴😩😂! Anywho, the fact that you’re nearly a decade younger than I gives me #motivation to do things I want to do. Thank you for sharing.
If you have a PO Box that fans can ship items to, I would like to Amazon some gifts your way for winter. Stay safe and warm out there! 🙏🏾
Thank you so so much ❤ I actually do have a PO Box! I need to make a community post about it I’ll find the address right now
@@AlyssaVanilla HELLO FROM DALLAS TX! I THINK YOU ARE REALLY BEAUTIFUL & YOU HAVE A SWEET PERSONALITY! JUST WANTED TO SAY I ADMIRE YOUR LIFESTYLE BECAUSE IT DISPLAYS YOUR BRAVERY & CREATIVITY! YOU SHOULD ORDER SOME HOT HANDS ON AMAZON OR GET THEM FROM WALMART, THEY HAVE THEY IN BULK & THEY WILL KEEP YOU WARM THROUGH THE NIGHT! GOD BLESS YOU & HOPE YOU KEEP MAKING VIDEOS SO I CAN SEE YOU LOL 😂
Door frozen shut you are inside: 1)Pull latch pushing on until door is ajar
2)Gently kick the door a part that will not get damaged but don't break any plastic to jar it loose
3)Start the car run heater until frozen part melts a little
Sorry u r cold n having issues with your doors...Two things that I couldn't live without... a oversize insulated jumpsuit so I can layer underneath and sleep in it comfortably and a heating pad that doesn't have an automatic shut off...you could get a couple 12 volt terranium heaters, the ones for lizards, they come in various sizes and won't drain your battery ... you can sit on them etc - wear a scarf ...heat on the back of your neck will keep u cozy
“Walh” or walls overalls from Walmart. Overalls made like a sleeping bag. I own several types these are the best for anyone under 5’10” they will work great men’s section.
That down comforter will be a game changer! I hope you can get them doors fixed, that’s gotta suck!
I like the personal Vlog 👍🏽👍🏽
Also if you can find someone to install it a diesel heater would be great for your van. The exhaust goes outside so you don't have to be scared to use it like the buddy heaters. They're only around $160 on Amazon and they will definitely keep your van 60+ degrees
Go for a down comforter or sleeping bag definitely. There are also down booties you can get to keep your feet toasty. I swear by wool kneesocks by smartwool.
Have you considered getting one of those compact Chinese disel heaters? They work really well use only a little bit of power you can even run them off a car battery. Starting up I think it uses a couple hundred watts for a few seconds but after that it uses arround 4 watts. I live in a r v. Though not nomadic and I love the Heater I have and it can get very cold in Maryland where I am. You can get the Chinese disel heater on Amazon for arround 150.00. The one that's best is taller and comes in like a computer tower case with a digital display and control knob. It also comes with a remote. Much love ❤️ 🙏
The gold window covers are blinging
I have the deasel heater, plus, two electric blankets. I'm ready.
Walmart sells 12v heated blankets but I believe they turn off every two hours. Also make sure your solar panels are facing towards the south to get the most power from them.
Get 8×10 sheets of Styrofoam 1 inch thick. About 2 of them cut to size of your windows and cut w razor and use duck tape to keep the edges to reuse and put away e out falling apart
When I come across you tube channel like thiss they are so awesome.
I use a Wave 6 heater. Never had a problem
I'm a vanlifer in upstate NY right now! It's been getting in the 20's!....And the worst here is yet to come, believe me! I'm actually headed S.W. VERY soon! Keep your head UP! You are a TROOPER!!!.....
I got a Buddy and it works great in my mini van in Yuma.
❤❤❤
I'm an OG! I remember the heated vest!!! 😀
Try hotels. We’d go camping to remote areas and most times hotels in town would allow us to pool showers plus use the pool all day for $5-$7
A good quality sleeping bag you don't need no heater. I also bought one of those little heaters. I do not like it, uses to much power from portable power station. I think you should get a little Mr. Buddy heater. Safe travels my friend. Much Love.
Yes yes I've been to Road Runner- awesome little grocery store 🙂
Hey, I did some tests on how much power my electric blanket used, it ranged from 25watts - 85watts per hour, It has 3 settings. Setting 1=25 watts, setting 2=55watts and then setting 3= 85watts. I use number 3 to pre heat my bed, the turn it off. When it's really cold I leave it on setting number 1 while I'm asleep. It would only use 200watts on setting number 1 for a nice 8 hour sleep... 285watts if you pre heated the bed for an hour first! the 8 hours of bliss!!! Honestly it's epic getting in a lovely hot bed xx
luv the t-shirt stay warm
Use a little buddy heater I used it during winter works good in my Astro van Cosmo
My trick is a good hoodie, keep that heat in!
😂😂😂, the beginning
Happy (OFFICIAL) First Day of WINTER!
Stay warm...
Uncle Rick
Yeah. 9°F at my van camp last night no heat near Taos, NM.
I went to Maine from NC for Thanksgiving and just got back home. I drove my ecoline E350 no build so no insolation. Had a camp cot, sleeping bag, and Mr heater buddy heater. Had to set it on high since the temp inside was below 20 degrees. Heater at low I didn't feel it when laying down but at high oh my god is was in shorts and a t shirt! Was amazing!!!! Slept like a baby! Cozy with promise of turkey! Get the buddy! Perfect for no build or minimal build! Set high if you have no insolation or low if you have some insolation. Perfectly safe if you crack the windows open a lil bit. Way better since you won't need to run the van for heat. The 2 van lifers next to me was jealous because they had to run their diesel sprinter vans and was still a lil bit on the chilly side! "Oh my.... that smells like $6.89 a gallon...heh good thing you guys can top off before rolling out right?! HA!!" I went to far so I got them breakfast and pugs sunglasses....I need to stop but they opened up for it but still I need to stop. Perfect strangers too so...yeah I'm toxic I know.... GREAT VIDEO THOUGH!
You got that shit strait sister! Been stuck in South Dakota for the winter -24 was the coldest. This shit sucks especially when your disabled!
The only thing I see with permanent solar panels mounted on your vehicle is you have to always park in the Sun 🌞. So although they will charge your vehicle gets hot especially in summer you want to park in shade. If you have portable panels you can set them out in the sun and park in shade. The other reason why someone could steal your panels even though they are mounted while you are away from the vehicle. Hot water bottle fill and put in your sleeping bag/covers. Just venting window slightly using Mr Buddy Heater is fine. Turn off when you go to bed. Get a carbon monoxide detector for the car $20. Turn on car heater before bed to warm up then shut off. I've heard of putting a candle under a terracotta pot heats up the pot to warm up a space. Lots of ideas on Google. Stay safe and warm 💓
Many layers with like two sleeping bags , fleece if you have enough juice for electric blanket. Exercise daily☮️🌵
my goodness expensive shower 🚿 I'm coming to RTR in January and feel your struggles with cold.. been in my van for 2 weeks brrrr.. good luck girl positive vibes
Start your vlogs as a short in portrait mode, 1 minute or less. Shorts get tons of views. For warmth, you're not starting up your van and running the heater before you go to bed? My shed gets down to 29 degrees in the winter. I wear two pairs of pants, wool socks, sleep with socks and shoes on, and three layers on my upper torso including a long flannel robe, under 3 blankets. Keeping your head warm is most key, with a beanie or a bunch of pillows. I suppose a cowboy hat could work in a pinch!
Hey I just found your channel, I Like going to lake Havasu AZ so I will share how I have figured out how to stay warm living in my car, 1st thing is layer up wear multiple layers of socks, pants, shirts and jackets and hats if need be you could tie a t shirt over your head and wear a beanie over that.
2nd any clothes that you don't wear layer them on top of your blankets extra bath towels are great blankets covers for extra weight to keep you warm.
I have survived like that even in Washington winters years ago and didn't need to turn on heat.
I work in southern California so it usually only goes down to high 30 s here during the winter
I hope this helps I have been car camping most of my adult life.
UA-cam is great for fixing stuff.
Just Google type and year + side door won't open.
I bought a $200 van and fixed both side doors and rear hatch myself. Good luck!
Also, you crack me up so thanks 4 that
Always a beautiful queen
💜💜💜
Find a Feathertick cover it will keep you warm. 😮
Yes heated blankets r great n try the mr. buddy during the day n if ur still alive ..then u will prolly live through the night. thats how I test propane
The candles might be giving you your headaches if your burning paraffin candles indoor . make sure there beeswax or soy they will help clean the air.
It’s even cold here in Florida the last couple of days. The temps will be back to normal Tuesday.
Happy Sunday
WOW 🎉 despite the cold 🥶 and heat issues , I think you’re doing amazing ! Hang in there ! ARIZONA winters are like Hot & Cold and looks like this winter will b a chilly one in ARIZONA !
Hang in there and get what ya need to stay warm 🔥 it almost makes 110 sound good huh🤣😉

Dope shirt
Been doing this for over 4 years but in Wisconsin. No stranger to cold nights. Have done 25° below zero fahrenheit in a vehicle with no auxiliary heat source. Currently using an old full-size window van. The vehicle heater is not much help below zero. Just enough to defrost the front windows. It will not keep the inside of the van warm unless you run it a couple hours without opening the doors. Sunlight during the day makes a big difference. I use 2 sleeping bags during cold nights. One inside the other. Nights below zero mean warm socks, sweatpants, a couple t-shirts and hand warmers in the bag with you. It's not that hard to stay warm while sleeping but when you get out of those sleeping bags and try to start your day it is not fun. Frost on the inside from your breath is a problem. I have a propane Buddy Heater but it adds to the moisture problem. 2 heat settings. On high you only get an hour or so out of a one pound cylinder. 6-8 hours on low but it doesn't raise the temperature much. Below 20° fahrenheit propane begins to be uncooperative. Electric heat is impractical unless you have a large battery bank. Uses too much energy. The answer for many people is a "Chinese diesel heater". Doubt I'll ever buy one. Can't stand the smell of diesel fuel or the exhaust. Most batteries have problems with extreme temperatures. The easy and relatively inexpensive solution is a bank of at least 4 golf cart batteries but they need to be outside the vehicle. Then you can run a small electric heater and not destroy the batteries. I have a small Jackery that I use for charging batteries and other low power consumption purposes but even a large solar generator will usually be too small for electric heat. Temperature extremes are a real challenge and that's when you find out just how strong/tough/indestructible and resourceful you are. As an addition to what I have mentioned there have been individuals who have installed small wood burners in vans. All of the heating methods require some forethought and there are safety risks to consider.
Yeah I bought the same mini heater too and it doesn't work on my power bank station as well. I don't get it coz it's just 200w. Lol. Goodluck girl. And hope you'll find a convenient heating system for ur van. Be safe out there and stay warm
Go down to Fortune Lake in Yuma until January when the Women's RTR starts.
( I love that you are such a genuine person.) I just left Quartzsite last week due to the cold. On the bright side, you have a dumpster 😍. The shower at the laundromat is clean and they give you a towel and soap and shampoo and I don't think it costs $10.00 😉 It's also a great laundromat (Do use the "High" setting on the dryer no matter what the attendant tells you). The attendant is very nice.
great advice!
Should come camp and ride Offroad vehicles in glamis this season! Everyone should experience glamis!
watching here my friend and sending my support..stay safe always and have a bless day
A small candle and a terracotta pot will heat pretty good.
I've heard of that. I've been told that tealights, which burn for about 3 hours, gives great heat.
Go to Jacksonville, Florida, it’s 80 degrees there daily with a low of 60s at night.
I am at La Posa using a heating pad, 75 watts.
you can get heated cover’s.. sell them at target all you have to do is plug it up and its get the sheets super hot
Electric heat is tough to do in any mobile setup. Tip with the solar panels: lay them on your windshield and bungie cord them to the mirrors. When those door panels come off every clip is going to break. At least it did when I took mine off my astro van back in the 90s. Hope you get warm soon.
Try a hot water bottle, it kept me so warm when I was sleeping in a tent 🏕 you can cuddle it too
I think a 12v (cigarette lighter plug) blanket would work best with your solar generator. Place it under you so the heat stays trapped under your comforter. You can find them at truck stops if you don’t want to order one.
You can get one at Love’s truck stop in Quartzsite.
Insulate the glass electric blanket
Look at your channel it's growing so fast I'm so happy for you young lady ❤️
Try cleaning the solar panels. (They look kinda dusty) you'll have more imput
I can’t stand being hot. You can’t escape heat at night but you can cover up in the winter. Also use propane heaters it’s better.
They make a 12v heater that plugs in the cigarette lighter as well
I smile whenever you upload! Love your videos 🖤
Get a jackery with the solar panels ! also heating blankets are super clutch
Its 61 degrees in tampa fl had that way
Buy a diesel heater. I just got mine today
Last year at this time I was doing the New Mexico State park shuffle with my season pass, spending $4/night for the electric hookup so I could keep my 700w space heater running all night for warmth.
Four dollars?!?!!!!!
I love that - New Mexico is so underrated. 4 dollars a night is super cheap.
You need to buy an annual pass to get the $4 electric/water site and free showers. $225 out of state; $100 for in state seniors; great deal. I am in Quartzite this winter but will use my pass when I leave here this spring until it gets hot and then up to Colorado for the summer! Van Life is the best!
Hey Alissa I saw a guy using a battery to use for a heater before on u tubr also may be use a big candle in a bucket but be careful cover your window s good to
I'm about to buy a 10 person tent ⛺ and insulate it super good n get a fireplace for the tent and a generator portable heater and a pop up shower and bathroom and rock out thru winter I ordered most of the stuff have to leave the apartment soon so I'll be moving into the the big tent ⛺
put your solar panel up on your dash. it will charge thru your wind shield
I live in northern Az it gets real cold. My warmest item is a crocheted Afghan I found at a thrift store for 3 bucks. Worth more of its weight in gold
Have you ever considered coming to San Diego? You wouldn't have too much stress dealing with cold / heat extreme issues. Being next to the beach is nice, they have bathrooms, and in the summer you can take a shower. Just food for thought-
Stay warm & take care :)
Heat up a water bottle and put between your blankets to keep you warm🌤
Thank you so so so much Alyssa for making my sunday super duper cool because I was so so stressed with my exams and I wish you reach 30K Subscribers very very soon!💞✨☺️
Happy Sunday Alyssa! Stay warm and safe! You keep us updated on how to live in your vehicle.
I spent 2 winters in a vehicle in Oregon and an electric mattress cover. Some sort of heated blanket or pad is really nice.
Allyssa please take it from me. I live in a tiny house off the zuni reservation. It gets below zero. I have a below zero sleeping bag i use and i actually sweat in it. Go take a peek at the sportmans store and if you can afford it get one of their bags. Some are 99and some 165 but it will save your life.
I look forward to your videos every Sunday. I love your positivity when things get rough. You're the best, stay safe and stay worm.
hi, maybe you can put magnets to the backs of your panels and attach to your van. 😀
Use inside heater , it use propell
I am a over the road trucker for 29 years we use bunk heaters they work so good and not that expensive
I recommend investing into a solar shower bag & a foldable shower tent so you don't have to spend money on the showers. Love your videos!
look up VanlifePlus and Vancity Vanlife their videos should help you get somewhat prepared for cold as they are in Canada
U should get a diesel heater installed, there not expensive
There are foam insulation panels. You can cut them out to fit your windows and they do really well. The only downside for me was storing them did take up more space but it really helped me during my winters in Arizona.
I really hope you have a warm sleep tonight! It’s amazing and super cool what you do.
I think you may need to invest in a couple of new Halo chargers or one with the outlet addition to it. I got mine on QVC and it is a Godsend! I've had my old one for 11 or 12 years now, but I keep my new one in my trunk. It's bigger and holds more power. Just a suggestion.
Yes to vlogs! You could always do a couple of hot water bottles. I only have one & it’s usually still warm in the morning, having 2 or 3 would be good in a van tho (one for your feet, one for your midsection & one for you to hold/snuggle with). Those sitting underneath a few layers of blankets as you wrap up evening chores will warm up your bed & keep it warm all night. Good luck out there fam! ✊🏾
Hi new subscriber. Really like your videos. I use a 12 volt heated blanket to stay warm when I truck camp. It works great with a power bank. Hope this helps.
Had to smile when the vest light came on!
Send some of your cold over here. I woke up and it's 87 inside my camper. I installed a new thermostat on my heater and it's running non stop. You're so lucky
Wow I’ll trade you!
@@AlyssaVanilla I run my generator every day at least from 4 to 7. You can come over and plug your power thingie into the outlet on the front if you want. No need to knock or anything.
@@chasein7019 thank you i just might have to take you up on that
