- The last 3 minutes and 49 seconds of WVUs 1993 undefeated season. Looking pretty bleak until Mike Logan recovers a Boston College fumble. The offense took over, and then Logan intercepted a Boston College pass in the end zone to seal the deal in their house. 11-0 baby!
I just met Mike Logan, who was a guest at Steelers training camp today. I hugged him. 1993 will be forever in our hearts.
That would be awesome to meet him, and or many players from this team. They were special.
He's a great guy, I've met him several times too. Even better person than player, and he was one of our best DB's of all time
Mike Logan won that game for us, literally 3 times - fumble recovery, ST tackle preventing long return, and INT on final play to preserve the W. That's why he's one of my all time favorite Mountaineers
You got that right brother. He would probably be the first to say that it was a total team effort, but he stood above the rest. When a team can pull out a win like that when they are not hitting on all cylinders, that’s the mark of a champion.

This was a great classic WVU football game, with a classic and classy WVU football coach. Thank God we have another one in Neal Brown, who will bring back that culture that Nehlen fostered so well. I see a WVU NC trophy in the not too distant future!!

When Boston College got the punt return deep in WVU territory, I quit watching this game. I am kind of embarrassed to say that.
We got robbed that year. Then a year later we played Nebraska for the season kick off and Tommy Fraizer obliterated us lol..
I was at that game in New Jersey, it was horrible, although we did have a 91 yard punt.

Wouldn't have mattered. Florida's offensive and defensive lines were on a whole different level than West Virginia's.

West Virginia had a decent team that year, but they would have been annihilated by Nebraska or Florida St. West Virginia could have put Tom Brady on the field, and it wouldn't have mattered. West Virginia simply didn't have the horses to play with best teams in the country that year.

That was in the bowl game. This was the game that gave us the undefeated regular season.

Just thought I’d point this out. You have to win your bowl game, to complete an undefeated season. No school counts a 11-1 season as an undefeated season. Look up Bama, LSU, USC, Ohio St, Michigan, UF, FSU, Miami, Texas, etc, none of them count a season as undefeated in their record books if they lost their bowl game. Just thought I’d point that out.
Bowl games are not regular season games. They are considered post season games. Therefore WVU did in fact complete an undefeated regular season.
You can try and justify it all you want but bowl games are part of the season and no other school counts a season where they lost their bowl game as an undefeated season. WVU has never finished a year with zero losses. Therefore they have never had an undefeated season. 1993 UF exposed how subpar WVU was anyway. If you cant even compete with #6 UF, you had no business thinking you should have played Nebraska or even FSU for the title.

I'll take their word over some guy from UA-cam. Notice the words “regular season”. Bowl games are, and have always been, “post-season” games. I don't need to “justify” anything, because a regular season doesn't include bowl games, and it never has. If you want to count the bowl game and say WVU had an 11-1 YEAR, fine, but as far as REGULAR SEASONS go, they were undefeated and It's in the record books as such. You can hate on WVU, and you can argue that they aren't a national powerhouse team, but you can't change what is in the record books. “Undefeated regular season” is how it is worded and how it stands, period.

Little ole WVU has to state “undefeated regular season”. No other program claims that. They have undefeated seasons and they have seasons where they lost a game or more. No other program uses the term “regular”. Its like the annoying little brother wants to recognize the B+ they got. Nobody gives a crap if the season didnt end with 0 in the loss column. But congrats on your participation trophy. Good luck with that. Oh and one more thing. Hate on wvu? There isnt anything to hate on. Mediocre program.
We love our team, and that's what matters. Not going to waste my time with someone that doesn't know the difference between a regular season and post-season. I'll be happy and content here knowing we had the undefeated season, and you'll be there, busy screaming “BUT THE BOWL GAME!!” to anyone who will listen. Wonder who will have more peace of mind?
