We watched the most ballsy 4th Quarter of play calling ever and when Browning broke the plane the whole city of Monroe came together. As a fan of the lowly UNLV football team since it was established in 1968, the upbeat moments were few and far between. However, as shown here at the 45:42 mark, this was one of them. Playing on the road against the 'almost' nationally ranked Baylor, who were a two td favorite, UNLV held it's own for the whole game- with just seconds left in the game and Baylor inside UNLV's five yard line, and holding a three point lead, instead of taking a knee and winning the game by the disappointing margin, Baylor tried to salvage a 10 pt win, (polls) and tried to run it in for the td. The rb attempted to leap into the end zone, but lost the ball, which was picked off in the air, and returned for a td- end of game; UNLV 27 Baylor 24. Don't get greedy- take your underplayed win, and count the win, instead of a loss.

And it’s not like the play he chose isn’t going to go down as one of the greatest moments in KU history (at least a lot of us hope so). One could argue Vince Young’s 4th and 18 conversion against KU in 2004 is one of UT’s greatest of all time as well. It propelled them to the Rose Bowl victory against Michigan that year and a national title the year after. It’s most definitely believable to think that had VY not pulled that off against KU, history for the Longhorns goes down much differently.

    • @ComeTakeIt-sh6pf
      @ComeTakeIt-sh6pf 2 роки тому +1

      Looking for an ‘iconic’ positive play, I’d go with the ricocheted pass by RG3. The play selected probably sealed RG3 the Heisman which, with everything else that year, led to the building of McLane Stadium and so it is probably the most important. The goal line stop of OSU is a top play but I do not think it represents much more than a quality (rebuilt) program making a really great play to finish off a great conference season and thus is not as iconic long term. But the ricocheted pass defines the seeming inevitably of how that season would go and thus is more iconic of not only its season in total but also what the program’s future was.
      Our most negative ‘iconic’ play is the one chosen for UNLV. Any long time BU fan still will cringe if UNLV is mentioned in any context.

    The video was an outstanding idea and made even better by telling us in the description where to find the clip from our favorite team! I was a big Louisville fan for many years when I resided in southern Indiana and I was at the game from which their clip is shown! It was on September 26, 2002 and was the ESPN Thursday night game of the week. Louisville was coming off four consecutive minor to mid level bowl games and starting to crack the top 25 once in a while, but still hadn't gotten that breakthrough, program defining win. Furthermore, while we were starting to get road games against marquee opponents, we had a very hard time getting them to visit us. So I was particularly excited about this game when it was scheduled a few years earlier as part of a home and home. We lost 31-0 at FSU in 2000 and entered the game against them in 2002 with a disappointing 2-2 record, but brought out A game that night and pulled off the big upset win in overtime, though that FSU team turned out not to be as good as we expected. They entered the game 4-0 and ranked #4, but ended the season 9-5 and ranked 21. Despite our big win, we finished only 7-6 but have had a lot more good seasons than bad since, and had several periods in which we were frequently ranked, even in the top 10. It rained from start to finish that night, and I never would've even gone to the game, let alone stayed the whole time, had it not been a marquee opponent. It was miserable to watch, but when we won, it was all worth it. It's the only goal post tear down I've ever participated in, and I still have a scar on my left middle finger from a scrape in the huge crowd. I also ended up with a cold and my white T shirt turned red from the sweater I was wearing, but it was all worth it! And making it even more emotional is that it was our first home game since the death of our most prestigious former player, Johnny Unitas. And showing how classy Louisville fans are, at the end of the night, a piece of the goal post was left at the statue of him.
    Thanks again, and I look forward to watching the other clips also!

But it's impossible to pick just one play from powerhouses like Bama. For Pitt, I love the Pickett play, but I think something from the 1976 national championship team would be "iconic". Disappointed the Maryland play is a no-audio play. The denial of Miami's 2-pt conversion in the crazy 1984 comeback over Miami would have gotten my vote. Major props for putting this together. (2) Boston College - David Gordon's FG with 5 seconds left to defeat #1 Notre Dame in 1995 in a game remembered as "The Holy War". BC pulled out to a big lead, but energized by their home fans, the "Fighting" Irish lived up to their name and scored a TD with 1:05 left to take a 1-pt lead. That set off a premature celebration, only to have BC move into FG range and win it on Gordon's kick -- with all due respect to Flutie, that was one of the most thrilling games I've ever seen.

    Glad to see you got BYU correct. Another acceptable answer for them is ty detmer making number 1 Miami's defense look silly while throwing the game winning touchdown in 1990

    The broken up pass in the 1984 national championship game against Nebraska should’ve been the most iconic play in University of Miami football history

    I see angles for how Scott's TD and Ringo's Pick Six are both deserving of the spot for Georgia. From the purely in-game perspective, Georgia going from a sure loss to keeping their 1980 championship season alive in one pass play was a thrilling moment. For the other play Georgia was ahead and didn't need a TD to secure the game, but that play was a cathartic moment for multiple generations of Dawgs fans tired of seeing another team and their fanbase reach that summit.

    I really wish you picked Kelee Ringo's Pick 6 for Georgia considering the other 2021 season plays in this video (for Illinois, Pitt, and a couple others). I agree the Larry Munson call is maybe more iconic now, but there's no way that that Pick 6 doesn't become the most iconic in very short time.

      I’m with you there. I love the Lindsay Scott play but Ringo’s pick has quickly eclipsed it for me, considering what it did.

    • @shungokusatsulol

      Imma try to guess the logic here, the Ringo pick 6 was game sealing (championship game but still) but Run Lindsay Run was game saving vs UGA's biggest rival (biggest game in UGA's '80 championship season)

      Also why not show where Georgia was robbed of a game winning fumble recovery when the refs decided it was an incomplete pass so that gets that last play ,nobody ever brings that up Georgia actually won that game and Alabama knows it

      Don’t necessarily disagree with the play selection, but we didn’t even get the Munson radio call. “Lindsey Scott! Lindsey Scott! Lindsey Scott!”

      Boise State missing 3 consecutive less than 20 yard FGs to choke a 21 point lead and taking them out of a national Championship defineatly pretty high on that list……. They don’t miss just one of them and college football could be such a drastically different sport today…..
      1. They’d be undefeated
      2. They’d have to take Oregon out of the championship
      3. It would be Auburn vs Boise State in the title game
      4. Boise State would be statistically the most difficult team Auburn ever played all season, with very limited answer to their offense
      5. Boise State would be only team Auburn ever played with experience playing against a running QB
      6. Boise State wins that game or even keeps it close, CFP is probably not 4 teams….. in fact it’s probably an 8 team playoff even earlier than 2013.
      7. They win that game the entire landscape changes…..
      A FG has never had such significant implications on the sport before

    I think Miami’s most iconic play was that deflection against Nebraska in the 1984 Orange Bowl that gave Miami their first title

    • @hotrodtodd
      @hotrodtodd 2 роки тому

      Without a doubt!
      The school wanted to drop football in the late 70s but Coach Schnellenberger promised a title within five years. That 1983 season was the fifth year. Not to mention they upset what was considered the greatest CFB team ever, at the time.
      The Ed Reed play in 2001 is iconic, but Miami was ahead 12-7 when he scored only padding the final margin. And even if they lose at BC that day, they still likely play for a title since Nebraska & Oregon also had one loss each.

      “Trouble with the snap” is one of my favorites sports memories of all time. My wife and I watched this game from a DC bar and we’re solemnly getting ready to leave when they botched the snap and we’re screaming and jumping up and down as JWJ scoops and scores. The cherry on top was watching an obnoxious Michigan remove his maize t-shirt after 4 quarters of trash talk. I’m not sure anything CFB related will ever top that moment.
