You could argue that AM is a mediocre album. Generic pop-rock songs when compared to their first two albums (even Humbug). Plus, they're from Sheffield, so I'm not sure what he's referring to when he says their 'Cockney attitude'. He pretty dramatically glossed over AM and its shortcomings. Incredibly generic, boring lyrics. Bland guitar playing/drumming. 99% of that album is Alex Turner trying to impose himself as some kind of rock god.
I'm shocked that The Police weren't included. The quality of all 5 of their studio albums range from great to outright masterpiece. I'd also nominate Tool and the Smiths for this list.

I saw the White stripes twice and they were truly amazing both times. The time I saw them at Stone Mountain Park near Atlanta was maybe the best show I've ever seen in some respects because the promoter ran out of money and couldn't afford any lights except for one directly on the band. I will never see another show that gloriously stripped down. Total blackness everywhere except for the illuminated White stripes making glorious noise.
I'm not finding mention of The White Stripes using a mellotron on that Satan album. Just a mention about a solo in the song Icky Thump, and that's only mentioned in a review . Funnily I do find mention of one being used on a song by Ray LaMontagne about Meg White.
Jimmy would be in the mix, they're my favourite band but...Invented and Damage are both pretty mediocre albums IMO. There's a reason the only tend to play one song from each of those albums live while every other gets a good range.
Alter Bridge are a band that I think have no bad albums. Even on 'One Day Remains' when they were still finding their footing, they had a lot of gems on that album. I also don't get a lot of the negativity towards 'The Last Hero', as even their "weakest?" album is better than a lot of bands at their best.

Yeah...no. AMO was terrible, period. It had a couple of great songs but my god were there some outright terrible ones (do not care for the mainstream swallowing them whole and putting them on a pedestal for awards simply because they sold out.) Plus their new album actually makes AMO look like a masterpiece by comparison. Music To....was just an overwrought, self-indulgent, album-long interlude track that could’ve merely been the soundtrack to film or game or something. It’s devoid of substance in comparison to any of their prior records. Furthermore, we do have to include all of their albums and by that stretch, it’s heavily subjective. Personally? I love Sempiternal and That’s The Spirit. Such emotionally charged and purely amazing albums. Suicide Season and There Is A Hell are pretty subjective depending on genre enthusiasts, some love the first two and others despise them. I actually really dig Crucify Me from There Is A Hell but not really into the first two albums as a whole. Overall, they’re not exactly devoid of flaws.
If a band can only make it onto a “no bad albums” list by getting rid of two albums, how could you logically have typed out that entire comment and still thought you were saying something
How the fuck is Deftones not on this list?! They have nine albums and they range good (Adrenaline, Gore) to fucking amazing (White Pony, Diamond Eyes). Their most recent album (Ohms, which I know was dropped after this video was uploaded) is a damn good one that cracked my top 3 or 4.
Good list, but my personal favorite when speaking of a near flawless discography is system of a down. You can't release a bad album if you simply don't release an album lol. As of 2020 SOAD has 5 albums whose lyrics are still relevant. Serj's and Daron's "solo" projects are also worth to check out, as is John Dolmayan's cover album.
We have a lot of overlap in our music taste- ever heard of Mini Mansions?? Michael Shuman (guitar, queens of the Stone Age) along with Zach Dawes and Tyler Parkford (either one or both of them played in AM at some point) have this band and they are my absolute favorite. They don’t have too many albums though, I think they only have 3 or 4. (I say 4 because I could their B-sides to the Great Pretenders as a full record, it’s super long and stands on its own)
I'm surprised Beach House is mentioned. Maybe it's just that this channel seems to be geared more towards hard rock and therefore the audience would consist first and foremost of hard rock fans, but Beach House seems to not reach hard rock fans much. It seems like a band that mostly appeals to fans of indie music and not many fans elsewhere. Anyway, I'm not just surprised but pleasantly surprised by the mention!
I think, The Script belongs on this list too. They released their 6th album in fall of 2019 and again the whole album is fantastic. All six albums are hidden gems, because only two of their songs made it into spotlight. "Hall of Fame" and "Superheroes" are good songs, but there are so much better records that are mostly unknown.... Greetings from Germany :3
I don't know if you want to call Pick U Up and In the Darkest of Nights Let the Birds Sing as official studio albums, but if so, Foster the People should definitely be on this list. Torches, Supermodel, and Sacred Hearts Club are great albums, with upbeat tunes like Pumped Up Kicks, Don't Stop (Color on the Walls), Best Friend, Coming of Age, Lotus Eater, and SHC (among many, many others), and great supporting tracks like Warrant, Goats in Trees, and Loyal Like Sid and Nancy to back them up. Style, Imagination, Lamb's Wool, Walk with a Big Stick, and Cadillac are solid, too.
I think The Strokes should have been here after their new album "The New Abnormal", even though I don't play a lot of their second record the rest of the albums are amazing!
Really eloquent reviews! Very surprised by some of them on here like Brand New and DES. Looking forward to part 2 because you missed a Ton of bands like BILLY TALENT, TOOL, SLIPKNOT, OUR LADY PEACE, MAE, ANBERLIN, PARAMORE, QUEEN, BEATLES, EMERY, and many more.
The fact that there are people that believe Era Vulgaris is Queens Of The Stone Age’s worst album makes me angry, because not only is Era Vulgaris their best album, but it’s also my favourite album of all time. It rocks hard and is perfect from front to back, especially when you bring some of the bonus tracks like Running Joke, Era Vulgaris (the title track), and Fun Machine into account.

@@haydendutton6916 Amo is a mess, it does not feel like an album too me.
100% agree with QOTSA and TDEP
(I say 4 because I could their B-sides to the Great Pretenders as a full record, it’s super long and stands on its own)
Something about "Welcome to Bangkok" is haunting, and I love it. It will always be one of my favorite Brand New songs.
Good job for putting beach house on here !! ❤️
i think nirvana belongs on this list. if we're excluding posthumous releases, i think they had a near perfect discography.
I imposed a 4 album limit for my list making purposes, and they only had 3.
Beatles, Paramore, Foo fighters, RHCP, No doubt, Hole, Kinks
I'm surprised Beach House is mentioned. Maybe it's just that this channel seems to be geared more towards hard rock and therefore the audience would consist first and foremost of hard rock fans, but Beach House seems to not reach hard rock fans much. It seems like a band that mostly appeals to fans of indie music and not many fans elsewhere. Anyway, I'm not just surprised but pleasantly surprised by the mention!
One of my favorite bands!
Greetings from Germany :3
for me Arctic monkeys, Coldplay, and the police are consistently brilliant
I’d say lights! Although she isn’t a band her discography is perfection 🖤
Well hello there fellow Lights fan.
How did I think Brand New was brand new?
Danger Days is not a bad album, is just a underrated album :(
I don't know if you want to call Pick U Up and In the Darkest of Nights Let the Birds Sing as official studio albums, but if so, Foster the People should definitely be on this list.
The Strokes don't have a single bad album
First Impressions of earth is kind of a slog.
@@rmch4070 it has some awesome tune tho
Angles is kinda out there imo
They do.
@@rmch4070 would say angles is mediocre, fioe only really has killing lies 15 minutes and fear of sleep as meh songs everything else is really good
System? Lincoln park? RATM? Zeppelin? Nirvana? Tool?
I'd say Tame Impala needs to be here.
Slow rush is dull imo
@@leonl1559 It is great.
It's a single dude doe...
Great video. Although admittedly I'm bias. QOTSA's one of my fave bands ever.
Still praying for another brand new album, they may have ended in 2018 but I feel they’ll come back again...
I think The Strokes should have been here after their new album "The New Abnormal", even though I don't play a lot of their second record the rest of the albums are amazing!
Paramore hasn’t made a bad album
I agree with you
Idk, the first album aged poorly and the self-titled one is pretty weak imo.
NV94fm self titled > After Laughter.
@NV94fm I agree with you on the debut, but the self Titled album is absolutely killer
I said no bad or mediocre and AWNIF is the definition of mediocrity
Really eloquent reviews! Very surprised by some of them on here like Brand New and DES. Looking forward to part 2 because you missed a Ton of bands like BILLY TALENT, TOOL, SLIPKNOT, OUR LADY PEACE, MAE, ANBERLIN, PARAMORE, QUEEN, BEATLES, EMERY, and many more.
The fact that there are people that believe Era Vulgaris is Queens Of The Stone Age’s worst album makes me angry, because not only is Era Vulgaris their best album, but it’s also my favourite album of all time. It rocks hard and is perfect from front to back, especially when you bring some of the bonus tracks like Running Joke, Era Vulgaris (the title track), and Fun Machine into account.
have you ever talked about glass animals? i would love to see what you think of them!
Death and Bolt Thrower for me
Where’s Portishead???
