I set up a tank that was not in use for ages and bought tiger ( 5 standard ,one green and one albino ) and rosy barbs and did the fish in cycle . They are all fine , now it's been nearly one month and all 9 of them are fine . They even spawn while the nitrites were high ...
Thank you very much for this vedio. Please tell me can i cycle tropical fish with Guppies and how many of them I need for 350 L aquarium. Or can i use gold fish ? Thanks a lot
Hey just did a search and found this video! It’s just what I was looking for. Great suggestions and I’ve seen these at my local fish store. I had just about decided on minnows before watching this. They are 18 cents and actually very pretty, especially the rose ones. I figure they are tough. Just seeing if you have an opinion on minnows?? Thanks !!
Love the idea of adding hardy fish, but i worry about quarantine. Id like to add a big school to my 2200g pond to help cycle but that risk of parasites/disease is too scary for me.
Hi I tried with garden dirt or aquarium soil for example for my aquarium I added 2 table spoon of garden dirt and it is ok after 1 month So it depends on how big is your pond you can use ADA amazonia soil it leach ammonia fast I wish you good luck
Will a tank naturally do the nitrogen cycle with a few fish? I have a 55 gallon tank and put in 4 platys and 2 tetras. How long will it take on its own?
I am cycling my 65 gallon tank with 6 giant danio. What are some good ideas of tank mates to add in to this aquarium once it is cycled? This is my first aquarium, so need guidance of how many fish to keep and what kinds. Right now I was leaning towards adding 6 neon tetras, 3 Corydoras, 2 Bolivian ram cichlids, and one angelfish.
hello I did not cycle my tank I have a 3.5 top fin enchanted with the filter, a heater and some Marimo moss balls. I add water conditioner and API Quick start, it has been 6 days and had no ammonia spikes until today I did a 20 percent water change and still Ammonia is at a "stress" level.. what do I do now ?
Joseline Ramirez add some fish food in there and wait for it to decay. That should up yo ammonia levels a little bit more. You should wait around 7 days more, then you should be cycled :)
Hi you can also add a table spoon full of garden dirt that will shoot the ammonia and help fast cycle . Fish food is also good but it takes time 45 days at least
Hi I’m new to the hobby I got a fish tank about 1week ago and my water got foggy and I tested the water it had a lot of ammonia and the ph was bad what do I do please help
@@ckpulse5537 I have a 30 gallon tank , got the fungus going on from my driftwood , but seems to slowly be going away. What's your opinion on adding fish to help the cycle go along for my size tank ? Its been running for a week. I have 4 snails in it atm to eat away the fungus , but would like to speed the process up for the cycling.
Why would u want to subject a fish to a poison like ammonia? I am sorry i don't get it. If u care enough about fish to know about the nitrogen cycle, why use fish during the cycle.
it’s just typically easier... that’s the only reason why. i’ve cared for fish for 30 years and i used the fish in cycle because i was lazy, now i just use other tanks beneficial bacteria
My thinking is as follows; People have been doing fish-in cycles for a very long time and will continue to do so for as long as the hobby is around. My video is simply to aid them in at least choosing a hearty fish to make that cycle successful if they choose to do it that way. I do agree though a fishless cycle is always going to be a more humane and safe practice.

I just list my tiger Barb within 24 hours of adding it to the new tank. I may lose another. I love the way they look too
Thanks Shawn very informative

All good but neons need at least 10 in a school to make them feel safe
CBJ ride or die! Lol setting up a new 20 tall in London, OH ( lived in Grandview most of my life.

Could I include ghost shrimp on this list. They are around $0.50 per shrimp and I’ve always found them to be hardy. Also Betas are really hardy.
How about 5 zebra danios in a 10 gal
Thanks

just stick a feeder fish in there, That will cycle it real good!
I have a 4 gallon. What’s the cheapest option?
try a zebra danio

How did it go lol its been a year
Yeah how is it
It’s been really good was part of the cycle got a lot of knowledge about fish keeping now i even upgraded to saltwater aquariums
@@mexico_god2350 I’m proud🥳 I don’t have a saltwater aquarium yet but my dad has a 180 saltwater reef tank I only have a 90 gallon freshwater
Nice
Go jackets!
Are 6 neon tetras good
Yep, in about 3 weeks you’ll be good to go.
cK Pulse don’t they die easily?
Fx Hx tetras are fairly hardy, if u want to do a fish in cycle i recommend platys.

I have one rainbow in my cycling 75 gallon tank. Is that enough?
I wondering what you ended up doing? I’m about to start setting up and cycling my 75 gal
Christian Bermudez I forgot but now I just take mulm from a filter and seasoned sponge filter to start up tanks
Can you list the names of the fish you talked about in this video

@@ckpulse5537 i mean, u can cycle using food only. And no fish has to suffer

cK Pulse yes because you have a established tank already. But for someone that doesn’t the fish in cycle is the best way.
So far 4 tiger barbs have died during my tank cycle ☹️
That is exactly why u should not use fish for the nitrogen cycle.
