Listen to this man , he brought me so far in this hobby I now have 2/125 gallon a 75 and 40 that are thriving and crystal clear. For almost 2 years now . Thank you Sir. 🤘💪. Got to meet him at Aqushella Chicago last year. As nice in person as he is in his vids.
I agree my aquarium water quality was very poor until following the guidance in his videos! With his methods, my water is now crystal clear and I absolutely know what to do when things don’t go as expected! I am contemplating at getting a sump pump because of his videos now! 😂😂😂
I agree! If it weren't for his expertise, my Goldfish would not still be here! I've had them 71/2 year's now! Kev is the real deal. What you see...is what you get. He's the Best!
Prime is great. But learn how to use Seachem Safe. It will save you a ton overtime. Seachem Stress Guard Is also another good product. If your tank is cycled only use stability after cleaning filters and/or adding new fish or during a new tank start up. I have been in the fish keeping hobby for about four years. Seachem water treatment products have not let me down thus far. I stay away from filter stuff like Seachem Purigen or other like products. To me they are a waste of money (use carbon when needed). Learn your tank/tanks. Do water changes when needed. Feed your fish and don't over think it. Repeat, Do water changes when needed. Feed your fish and don't over think it.
One of my favorite things about kev is how he always goes back and refines his information for beginners making them easier to understand, contain more information, and more up to date. Keep it up 👍!
Started off with a 75 gallon African cichlid tank because of Kev! Now i have a 225 gallon African tank and American cichlids growing out in my 75. Just ordered a custom 180 which will be here in January for the Americans forever home. Might have to turn that 75 into a salt water tank! Looking forward to your future saltwater videos Kev! Loved the comment that this channel will make you get into huge tanks! MTS is real. Thanks for everything bro!
You are definitely a victim!! 🤣🤣 Those are awesome tanks! Glad you've been enjoying the channel! Make sure you have room for that potential Saltwater tank! 🤣
After viewing multiple UA-camr fish tank videos I gotta say yours are the best. I’m starting again after I failed a few years ago. I know why I failed last time now. I will report back once I manage to get the first cycle done. I’m excited to succeed this time around with your help.
lol Glad you like them! 😊 BTW, you should check out my new Aquarium Keeping APP designed for beginners! - ua-cam.com/play/PLP5OXTIIDO8MyRXOeOqhwzruSWFdhcaNh.html
So stoked to hear you’re doing a saltwater tank! I’ve been wanting to do one myself so I really look forward to following you along on your journey. Good luck!
Great video, sump modification seems to be paying off. Good job. Friendly observation, your Red Malbero Discus needs some metro in a quarantine tank ASAP. Of course seeing this 8 days later doesn't help, hopefully you managed to sort the lil guy out.
Thank you me a beginner 🥰as I mentioned when I started following your channel I have 3 gold fish, I have for 5 year Living in a 2 gallon tank An I only use bottled water 💦 An no filters no nothing in the tank A few weeks back I purchased a 10 gallon tank, I added the filter rocks at bottom and decoration I will add them to the new tank on Monday 🙏🏽wish me luck 🍀 my babies don’t freak in a huge tank
I've watching a lot of videos about setting up a tank... Without doubt this guy for me is the best on you tube... I've took loads of tuition off him and my tank is well on its way to being a nice little home for my fish.... My 10 day cycle looks great' crystal clear water' no ammonia present' another 4 days and I will add my first few fish 🐟🐟
You are gods send. I just got into this hobby and started off in the wrong foot. After watching a lot of your videos I feel like I have a degree. Lol thanks a lot brother.
100% 🎯🔨 No one says it better than Kev, and one of the best parts about Kaveman is that it’s all facts he is speaking, and His experience in this lifestyle. I remember I started with just two small skirt tetras and two sword tails in a small tank, 2 days later you already know what happened I lost 2, because I didn’t even know what the nitrogen cycle was and my fiancée wanted a couple fish, but i went straight to Kaveman aquatics after my loss, I learned about the nitrogen cycle and I think out of everyone on UA-cam Kaveman explains it the best. Man I got MTS so fast 💨 😂😂upgraded that small tank and figured out how to set up a tank the right way and bypass a bacterial bloom everytime, He has assisted me into keeping 50+ fish now I’ve lost count at this point. tons of live plants, checking my nitrates weekly, and getting rid of nasty parasites💯 if you want a go to youtube channel, this is it. Also I can’t wait to see what you do with that salt water tank 🐠 yeah that’ll go hard 💪 You’ve really came so far, and I love to see it ❤
Thank you so much for this comment bro! The positive feedback is appreciated more than you guys could ever know!! Good luck with that MTS bro, it might get worse once you start seeing some saltwater content 🤣
I am setting up my fist tank very soon. Just waiting on the 3D background to arrive. Your videos have been so helpful in all the decisions I have made for my tank. I plan on putting in a piece of drift wood and a rock of some sort I plan to bring back from vacation. I know to add the background before the substrate but, I was wondering if I should add the driftwood and rock before the substrate as well?
I'm glad you talked about the true complete nitrogen cycle. It's not as difficult to accomplish as it's made out to be. We're just taught how to do it incorrectly on UA-cam. Deep substrate and biomedia's won't do it.
Glad you mentioned deep substrate wont do it. There's many being mis-informed out there about this as of very recently! and you're right, it isnt difficult but I wanted to keep this video as beginner friendly as possible 😊
@KaveManAquatics This hobby isn't very beginner friendly. Everyone and their dog has a channel these days making cookie cutter videos. Repeating bad info over and over again. Same exact videos just the face changes. Thankfully there's a few. Literally. Like yourself that pass on some legit information. We need more facts and less opinions.
I love all your videos. I hope to have a cichlid tank in the near future I will be checking in on your videos to make sure I'm doing everything right you're so easy going and so understanding in explaining your videos do you sell the water test kit do you sell the water test kit I didn't see it thank you for all you do 4 all of us aquarium nuts LOL
i really want to put a small saltwater cube in my room, all my big fresh water tanks are in the living room and if i had enough space in my room i would of been had one, but a small reef tank maybe with some clown fish sounds nice, ima be paying close attention to those beginner videos
Hey Kev. Long time subscriber. I've been in the hobby almost 50 years and have done everything in freshwater from monster Oscar tanks down to nano community. One saltwater tank in the 80's. I'm very happy to hear you are getting into a reef tank. I'm going to do it with you. Been considering it for a while now. Thinking about a Red Sea reef system. I will wait until you get a few videos in then get started. Good luck.
Hey Kev, thanks for the info on how to cycle your tank for those new beginners. But also as Kev mentioned for beginners you can also add fish to your new tank using Seachem Prime or Seacheam Safe with Stability. To those that are curious and just new to the hobby it can be done with those methods. Check out his videos on how he does it. 😀
Nice explanation, had my current tank for 6 yrs, just had to restart tank after, empting getting rid of big fish and starting again with little fish, ( and redecorating) new fish went in today, tank been running for a week, do a test tomorrow see how we are going.
For people who do not speak English as a first language, I think it would help at 2:02 if the chemical formulas were written next to the common names. Ammonia (NH4), Nitrite (NO2), and Nitrate (NO3) will probably help you to reach an even bigger audience.
I feel that dropping the chemical formulas can turn a simplistic video into a more complicated one. Didnt want to overwhelm the viewers with stuff they really dont ever need to remember...on that note though, I have stated a Spanish channel that I'll be uploading regularly too 😊 Check it out - ua-cam.com/channels/iRqagL1_6oKgRxOPs3GfqQ.html
Saltwater fish are so beautiful. Really looking forward to seeing your saltwater tanks and how you set up. I’m only months in to the freshwater hobby. I don’t think I’ll ever venture into salt or brackish. But really curious about how people start with a salt water tank. Fantastic content as always
Very informative Kaveman ! All your videos are very informative, without getting too technical. They are great because the experiences, as well as the beginner can get sone bit of info on your videos. GREAT JOB !! Side note……. Looking forward to you starting up with a salt water tank. I’ve always wanted to set one up. But…. Was not confident enough to think it would be a success. With YOU as our guide. It should be a great and fun experience. Thanks for the informative & fun videos. Larry F.
So happy for you diving into salt water. There’s a lot of great fresh water channels, you, PrimeTime aquatics, cichlid bros, etc. I haven’t seen a lot of well done salt water tanks. Looking forward to this!
Kev, Awesome video. Great way to let newbie’s know about the cycle. I am also glad you mentioned plants to so people know the benefits of aquatic plants if people can keep them with there fish. I bought both books from this guy he knows what he’s talking about. Oh man salt water that must be the 75 gal that you hinted at. Nice bro. Can’t wait for that. I have thought about starting a small salt water tank. But kind of nervous about it. 😂❤
Happy to hear that! Cant wait to have that much experience with Salt water! 😊💪 Let me know if I miss anything or give bad info once the videos start rolling out 😊 (Hopefully not)
I just posted a short of my very first deep substrate Iwagumi aquascape! Thank you for going through this cycle. My tank is in week 2/4 of the dark start method. I'm being extra b/c it's going to be planted Iwagumi and I hear plants also benefit greatly (die less) when installed in a cycled tank. ::just clicked subscribe:: Looking forward to this hobby!
Hi Kev. Love, love, love, your channel I have been doing the prime instability on my 125 gallon tank. I have not gotten my tank to produce any nitrates barely. What can I be doing wrong?
I have some questions so bare with me please. I recently started a 30 gallon aquarium. I have sand, an LED light, two live plants at the moment (moneywort and anubis,) a hob aquaclear filter, and a water circulator. In the process of getting a heater. Im doing a fish-less cycle… trying at least. I added the water 4 days ago that I treated with API aqua essentials, along with the right dosage of stability. Since that day, I’ve been dosing stability everyday as the back of the bottle says, planning on doing this for the 7 days. I’ve been adding a pinch of pellets every few days that are all sitting at the bottom expanded, deteriorating. I’ve tested the water yesterday and today with the API freshwater test kit, yet my ammonia, nitrites and nitrates are all 0. I’m not sure what I’m doing wrong or if I’m missing a step. Super confused. I’m thinking by now I should see some form of ammonia from all the “rotten” food at the bottom of my tank, right? Is this just the API aqua clear and stability working and already got rid of the ammonia, nitrite and nitrate? Or are my two plants feeding off of the nitrate and that’s why I’m seeing 0 on the test? Not sure but doesn’t seem right to me. Anyone let me know your thoughts. Thanks so much
Heck yea bro to a reef tank ! Welcome lmao. you’re about to enter another dimension. It’s extremely addictive. Oh boy here we go, I’m excited for you !
Hey, i got 2 questions which i don't see mentioned anywhere. First, how often should i add fish food to produce ammonia andd what should be the level of ammonia for the bacteria to grow optimally? Second, you said the tank is cycled if ammonia and nitrite is 0 and there's some nitrate. How long after adding the food should i measure this?
Gr8 video, thanks, question please My saltwater tank is 4 wks old. Im showing Ammonia at .5 Nitrite at over 8 ppm Nitrate at over 20 ppm. Is it normal to have all 3 at once ? I wondering how long it will take for Ammonia and Nitrites to get down to zero. Im a little confused. I'm not sure if i should do anything or just wait, i guess patience eh. Thanks buddy
hello I'm new to the channel. loving your videos and the help me in caring of my fish a lot. i have a question. i have 4 female bettas fish and i notice one is coming up to the surface to get air but stays on the bottom looking for food. i tried to feed it while it comes up but it looks at the food and swims away while the others eat like there's no tomorrow. i keep them at work and have a place to put her if i can catch her. should i separate her and feed her alone? how do i get her to eat with the rest of the fish? plus one is getting big as in fat is that a bad thing?
When doing a water change and using tap water. Does filling the fish tank first with tap water kill the beneficial bacterial, followed by adding the dechlorinator? I'm thinking to not kill the beneficial bacteria, you need to treat the tap water first with dechlorinator, then put that water in the fish tank.
Its good thinking. But no. Chlorine wont instantly kill bacteria, it needs contact time. You can add the dechlorinator directly to the tank as you fill it up and be perfectly fine. Watch this - ua-cam.com/video/xy3vlrPA-BQ/v-deo.html
It's a lot simpler than you think. Simply wipe it away every time you do maintenance. With time, as your tank matures, It'll stop coming back 😊 OH RAA Devil!
Nice videos man, but there is def signs that there is ammonia spike in tank. First, stressed fish not eating, second is redness near more delicate parts of fish and last possible cloud from bacteria bloom due to ammonia spike.
All of those that you mentioned can be caused by other things as well. My point was, the tank can be crystal clear, fish eating with no problem, no redness anywhere....and then they'll be dead from ammonia poisoning. Clean and clear water and fish acting normal does not mean the water is healthy for them. That was my point.
Hello again I had one quick question I had an idea I wanted to run across you I thought of taking a large mush bag the one that has a zipper to it got tiny little screen holes to it I thought about laying that down on the bottom and pouring The Matrix on top of that to keep the little rocks from falling down I was just curious of your opinion on that please also I just join
Yes that could work, but its much simpler to just put them in a bag so when you need to remove them in order to clean the baskets and the filter you just remove the entire bag. 😊
Yo Kev will adding poly fiber to my hang back filters affect my canister set up more specifically my chemical and biological media on top of the canister
Not at all. You can add it to your HOB no problem. I actually recommend using your HOB as a polishing filter. Check it out - ua-cam.com/video/fgug3v6DtJs/v-deo.html
Hello hope all is well just had a quick question I set my fx6 up just like you do with just The Matrix and on the top tray the white pad sandwiched with the Puritan my question is have you had any trouble with the Matrix rocks falling down into your impeller like the little small ones
It can happen yes! because of that I know recommend that you put the Matrix in a media bag to make sure none of the rocks fall through. You can find the bags that I use in my shop 😊 - koji.to/kaveman_aquatics
Should we not be doing any water changes until we get some nitrate measurements? I have a freshwater 20 gallon tank with 2 red rosey minnows in it. How long before my fish poop turns into nitrite poop? 😩😩 I just want some nitrite and beneficial bacteria poop. Is this really like a month process?
Thats correct! Doesnt take a month though...This video will be helpful! - ua-cam.com/video/9Cuqylaak3E/v-deo.html BTW, you should check out my new Aquarium Keeping APP designed for beginners! - aquabuildr.com
Love your channel!!! This has been so helpful! I’m currently 2 years into the hobby and have a 37 gallon tall. Currently have a 55 gallon that I’m wanting to set up soon but will be changing the substrate, any ideas on an inert substrate? I’ve heard some horror stories on how changing your current substrate could affect water chemistry {ph, GH,} have this super ugly gravel I’m dying to get rid of! I have some seachem prime and stability I will be using and using my old hang on back filter, will this be enough BB to cycle my tank instantly for within the next couple of weeks to add my fish day I set up?
Your cycled media will instantly cycle your new tank, yes. And the addition of Prime and Stability will make the transition even safer. Yes changing substrate in a young tank can be detrimental depending on how much bacteria is already in your original substrate. But again, the Prime and Stability are going to keep your tank safe even with new substrate...I use a great looking whitish pool sand that does nothing to the waters chemistry. (and its cheap) You can find it in my shop 😊 - koji.to/kaveman_aquatics
I have a 91-gallon saltwater tank I converted to a cichlid tank 2 years ago. I had some teras in the tank and 3 goldfish, I recently (6 weeks) bought 10 peacocks from imperial tropics and two weeks ago I bought another 6. I am seeing that some of them are not eating, it started out with 2 and 4, I am not seeing any sunk in belly but did see some white poop a week ago and didn’t take it on. I am not sure what to do with the tank or fishes. I tested the water, and all the perimeters looked good ( used an AOI test kit). Please guide me through this. I don't want to lose the fishs.
Not eating and white poop is usually a sign of internal parasites. Sunken belly is a sign seen after the parasites have done their damage for quite some time. To be safe I would treat the entire tank to make sure you get rid of the parasite! I was battling ammonia I did a 25% water change with natural spring water because i found out my tap has ammonia, i used stress coat and stress zyme before adding to the tank, changed my filter as well, its been 2 days and i have 0 ammonia, 7.6 ph, but my nitrite is .25 and my nitrate is between 40-80 ??? Should i perform another water change? I have a 30gallon freshwater, goldfish, gourami, tetras
Yes, the tank is cycled. You can now water change whenever you reach about 40ppm of nitrate. This video will be helpful - ua-cam.com/video/U_uBNKeIksQ/v-deo.html
Great vid again. 👌. Can i ask a question please....The cycle seems simple when you explain it but we are currently stuck with fish in our tank and an incomplete cycle. 57 ltr tank... 78 degrees.... 1 betta and 5 guppies. No live plants yet. Ammonia is 0.5ppm , nitrite and nitrate are 0. I've done two 20% water changes over the past 5 days and added Stress Coat and Zyme. I'm just unsure at the best way to get through the next few weeks until the cycle is done. Do I keep doing water changes? If so could I remove too much of the ammonia that the nitrogen cycle needs... arrgghhhhhh, I'm so confused.
Prime is 5 ml per 50 gallons. So just eye ball half a cap. Dont worry about overdosing, its safe up to 5x the recommended dose. For Stability 1 full cap is fine.
I have a 20 gallon which I’ve had for almost 3 months now, it’s thriving with 6 barbs, 6 tetras, 2 power gouramis and corydoras and otos.. ammonia and nitrite 0 however the nitrate never seems to go over 5-10ppm… the tank is heavily planted. Is it a concern the nitrate never goes to dark red (40+ppm)? I do 50% water changes weekly.. thanks!
Plants are never required. They are a preference if you want their additional benefit. Also, African Cichlids will eat or destroy most plants thats why their tanks dont have plants. I have a free webinar training on African Cichlids, you should check it out! - event.webinarjam.com/channel/KaveMan-Aquatics
Great video. There is no simple way to put this question. I messed up big time. I was trying to lower the pH in my American cichlid tank after a big water change. I wanted to drop the pH from 7 to 6.7. I miss read the instructions on the sea chem acid buffer and ended up dropping the pH from 7 to 6. After an hour or so I immediately noticed something was definitely wrong. I tested the water and found out my mistake. I immediately took measures to correct but the damage was already done. My arowana suffered the worst of it. His front tenticles are gone. He is on the mend and I think he will be just fine but I don’t know if the front feelers will grow back. I understand my mistake and that I failed as a fish keeper in this circumstance. Hope you can answer my question Thanks
Sorry to hear that bro, dropping the PH that quickly can absolutely cause fish loss. I didnt see any question though, unless you're asking about the arowanas barbells....honestly, Im not sure if they'll grow back.
Sorry that was my question. I feel horrible knowing that I caused this Thanks for your reply. I’ll pray for the best. At worst I have a good lesson learned to share with people. Thanks again for your kindness and reply

Hello! So im doing a fishless-cycling on my 90 g tank, im on day 10. I just tested my parameters and it read 0 Ammonia, 1 ppm Nitrite, but 0 Nitrates (it read 5ppm of nitrates about 3-4 days ago but randomly disappeared with no water changes). Idk whats going on but should i add more ammonia? Or should i just keep testing my parameters and wait it out the next couple of days?
Beginner's month!! Even though I've had my fish over seven years,( thing's started going wrong until I found you), I am still learning. I would never be that type of person that's thinks I know everything now. I've come along way since I found your channel...but no. No way would I grow a big head!😁 I think with fish keeping, there's always more to learn. Saltwater tank!! I'm so excited your going to start one up! Looking forward to the next couple of month's for sure! Hope your doing well with the weather Kev.😳 Unbelievable. ❤❤❤
Always room to learn and grow in this lifestyle! Thats why I love it, as soon as you feel bored with one thing you can go in any direction and learn something new! 😁 I got caught in knee high water level yesterday picking up the kiddo's from school. Ripped part of my rear bumper off too....it's insane!!!!
Hi kev, I started a new 4x2x2 tank a few weeks ago. Have driftwood, 30kg of white gravel and a few rocks. The tank still has a excessive amount of white gravel dust in it. Can i remove and wash the gravel without starting the cycle again, or should i just gravel vac weekly and wait it out?
If its really bad looking, just take the gravel out, re-wash it, do a huge water change and then re-install it. If bacteria was already beginning to grow it will be mostly in your filter. You'll still preserve them.
Hey Kev. What i dont understand is that in my african cichlid tank its a Big tank 200x60x60 cm 720 litre . Filter is driven with a 112 liter sump which is a very Good filter. Theres no plants in there and around 60 peacocks and haps . I feed 2 times a day and theres never Any nitrate in the tank i change the water every 2 weeks or so . But shouldent there always be some nitrate ??
Yes there should be. Unless your sump is so established that you’ve grown a good amount of anaerobic bacteria in there which would remove the nitrates.
Is there a reason why my nitrates have not risen in a weeks span? Im been doing a fish in cycle for about a week now adding seachem safe and stability daily.
Every tank is different. Some can cycle in a few days to a week, some longer. Do you have fish in the tank? Are you water changing? Make sure your PH is at least 7.0, plenty of aeration in the tank and continue dosing Prime and Stability daily.
@KaveManAquatics I am doing a fish in cycle. My ph is a little blow 7 but I do have a lot of aeration in my tank. Just checked my ammonia and nitrite this morning and they are at zero. Thought they would increase after now 2 days of not treating the water with prime and stability but they are zero. Do you think my tank is cycled?
I'm trying to do a fish in cycle and I found out something interesting. When the ammonia spikes to 1 ppm, I do a 50 percent water change (using tap water) and use API Stress Coat. The ammonia doesn't come down even though I did water change. But, when I use spring water, it goes down to 0 ppm. I thought that was interesting.
First, you shouldn’t be water changing while trying to cycle. Watch this - ua-cam.com/video/9Cuqylaak3E/v-deo.html Second, your source water could have ammonia.
If I have 0 ammonia, 0 Nitrite, and 5.0 - 10ppm Nitrate but still have cloudy water? Had fish in the tank for 2 or 3 weeks now. Might have rushed the process using older filters from the previous tank.
Your tank is definitely cycled. Cloudy water can be caused by a number of things...My book on getting crystal clear water can definitely help! 😁 It's short, to the point, and covers all the causes and solutions for cloudy water. Comes in eBook and Paperback. I promise you won't be disappointed! Check it out here - bit.ly/clearH2O
So I did fish in cycle..... Ph is good. Ammonia ✅️ Nitrite ✅️ Nitrate ✅️ Use seachem prime to make that ammonia safe for the fish for a short time. Boost your cycling process by adding stability to get more bacteria for that ammonia and for the nitrite. I hope my fish survives this ammonia and nitrite cycle. I am also putting some plant food. They say that it contains nitrite or nitrate so I might wait a week to see how my water parameters are. And continue to add prime and stability everyday for a week then water change.

Prime is great. But learn how to use Seachem Safe. It will save you a ton overtime. Seachem Stress Guard Is also another good product. Great video, sump modification seems to be paying off. Good job.
Friendly observation, your Red Malbero Discus needs some metro in a quarantine tank ASAP.
Of course seeing this 8 days later doesn't help, hopefully you managed to sort the lil guy out.
Great videos, good explanation of the nitrogen cycle and how it applies to the aquarium.
Thank you bro, glad you enjoyed it! 😊
Thank you me a beginner 🥰as I mentioned when I started following your channel
I have 3 gold fish, I have for 5 year

You are gods send. I just got into this hobby and started off in the wrong foot. After watching a lot of your videos I feel like I have a degree. Lol thanks a lot brother.
lol My pleasure bro! Glad you're finding the channel helpful 😁
So informative without being overwhelming. Thank you!
My pleasure! Glad you're finding the channel helpful. 😊

😆 For Life!
i really want to put a small saltwater cube in my room, all my big fresh water tanks are in the living room and if i had enough space in my room i would of been had one, but a small reef tank maybe with some clown fish sounds nice, ima be paying close attention to those beginner videos
I got you! And yes a small saltwater cube is a great idea for a smaller space. And you still get the joys of a tank in there! 😊💪
Thanks! Glad you found it helpful! Good luck with the new setup!

Appreciate you Larry! Glad you're enjoying the channel! I'm excited to bring you guys along the saltwater ride with me 😁
Another awesome vid, Kev! And I gotta say that I am soooo excited to see the upcoming saltwater vids you'll be making. ❤️
Thank you!! 😊💪
This video needs MORE likes!!!
I agree! 🤣 Thanks!
Correct about rule of thumb on Nitrate, but yes fish can def handle much higher.
So happy for you diving into salt water. There’s a lot of great fresh water channels, you, PrimeTime aquatics, cichlid bros, etc. I haven’t seen a lot of well done salt water tanks. Looking forward to this!
Thanks bro, hopefully I can do a good job on that side of the pond 😊
Awwww salt water that’s amazing! I’m just not ready yet… I can’t wait to see the new tank!
Took me a while to get there...I'm sure you will too 😊💪
Congratulations on your new salt water tank 🎉🎉🎉
Dont have it yet, but thanks! 😊😊
Kev,
Awesome video. 😂❤
I'll be sure to help those nerves bro! Cause I'm in the same boat! 😊 Appreciate the positive feedback and thanks for buying both my books too!! 😁😁
Nice to see you're doing salt water. I kept marine for over 10 years Kev. Really easy to do. 👍🙏
Happy to hear that! Cant wait to have that much experience with Salt water! 😊💪 Let me know if I miss anything or give bad info once the videos start rolling out 😊 (Hopefully not)
@@KaveManAquatics no probs mate. 👍
I’m excited about the saltwater series I’ve been thinking about my first saltwater tank I can’t wait 🐠🐟
Me too!! 😊💪
Hi Kev. Love, love, love, your channel I have been doing the prime instability on my 125 gallon tank. I have not gotten my tank to produce any nitrates barely. What can I be doing wrong?
Stop water changing and you will get nitrates, I promise! 😊
Great tutorial as always brother kev 👍🏼
Whats going on in the 75. Needs a top up 😂❤🍻🍀
Thanks brother Tony...I have to keep it that low so the Fry dont swim over and behind the background 😊
Ok gotcha 👌 👍🏼
Thanks so much
Beginners btw. Great video it help alot.
I am new to the hobby.... and I am elated that I found Aquarium Luis Guzman

Heck yea bro to a reef tank ! Welcome lmao. you’re about to enter another dimension. It’s extremely addictive. Oh boy here we go, I’m excited for you !

@@KaveManAquatics "you've been warned" ? hahahaha
Gr8 video, thanks, question please
My saltwater tank is 4 wks old.
Im showing
Ammonia at .5
Nitrite at over 8 ppm
Nitrate at over 20 ppm.
Is it normal to have all 3 at once ?
I wondering how long it will take for Ammonia and Nitrites to get down to zero.
Im a little confused. I'm not sure if i should do anything or just wait, i guess patience eh.
Thanks buddy
Are you planning a 40 breeder salt tank?
Na, either 75 or more...😊
hello I'm new to the channel. loving your videos and the help me in caring of my fish a lot. i have a question. i have 4 female bettas fish and i notice one is coming up to the surface to get air but stays on the bottom looking for food. i tried to feed it while it comes up but it looks at the food and swims away while the others eat like there's no tomorrow. i keep them at work and have a place to put her if i can catch her. should i separate her and feed her alone? how do i get her to eat with the rest of the fish? plus one is getting big as in fat is that a bad thing?
Will bubbles and ammonia rocks in filter help out with ammonia levels??
Yes, but your focus should be to allow your tank to cycle properly. Checkout my beginners playlist, it’ll be very helpful for you! 😁
Just got my first aquarium and it my ready to put it together! How do I know when to stop adding Prime and Stability to the tank?
When you reach 0 ammonia and 0 nitrite, then do your water change and you should be good to go 😊
When doing a water change and using tap water.
Hey devil. What method do you use to clear up the diatoms and brown algae after a new or rebuilt and cycle complete tank.
It's a lot simpler than you think. Simply wipe it away every time you do maintenance. With time, as your tank matures, It'll stop coming back 😊 OH RAA Devil!
Great video for us keepers!
Glad you enjoyed it
That was a cute pup
Thanks! 😁
Ok cool thank you
Yo Kev will adding poly fiber to my hang back filters affect my canister set up more specifically my chemical and biological media on top of the canister
Not at all. You can add it to your HOB no problem. I actually recommend using your HOB as a polishing filter. Check it out - ua-cam.com/video/fgug3v6DtJs/v-deo.html
Thank you Sir. Happy Veterans Day!
Ok thank you 😊
Get it Kev! Preachin

Thank you!! 😊
This video will be helpful - ua-cam.com/video/bSpBUlN-8jI/v-deo.html

Are you gonna put a 3-D background in that 75 gallon?
It’s had one for about 4 years 😁🤣

Appreciate it! 😊💪
Just saw your short video about cycling a tank with fish in it. That should sort me out 🤞
Here's a longer form video that will be helpful as well - ua-cam.com/video/9Cuqylaak3E/v-deo.html
How many ML would you dose seachem prime in a 15 gallon fluval flex tank?
What about seachem stability?
I wanna make sure I got the dose right.
Prime is 5 ml per 50 gallons. So just eye ball half a cap. Dont worry about overdosing, its safe up to 5x the recommended dose. For Stability 1 full cap is fine.
I highly suggest you check out my playlist for beginners. It'll be very helpful for you 😁 - ua-cam.com/play/PLP5OXTIIDO8NYvhUHAmwAd54WFmS4d8er.html
I do 50% water changes weekly.. thanks!
Not a concern at all! The plants are keeping your tank clean and healthy! You're doing great! 💪
@@KaveManAquatics thanks man! Next up hopefully a 55 gallon 😄 I can see how multiple tank syndrome is for real
Type of plants required in the aquarium
African chichlids
Plz
Hope you can answer my question
Thanks
Sorry to hear that bro, dropping the PH that quickly can absolutely cause fish loss. I didnt see any question though, unless you're asking about the arowanas barbells....honestly, Im not sure if they'll grow back.
Sorry that was my question. I feel horrible knowing that I caused this
Thanks for your reply. I’ll pray for the best. At worst I have a good lesson learned to share with people. Thanks again for your kindness and reply
Do I need to have an air bubbler in my 125 gal tank? I don’t see them in your tanks?
I have wave makers and filter return lines creating surface agitation so I dont need the bubbles...Which I prefer 😊
If ammonia and nitrite are still in water when you get high nitrate reading can I change water ???, I have fish in tank right now on this cycle

@KaveManAquatics Omg....I thought about you watching the news. Glad you and family okay. Thanks Kev and take care.❤️
Hi bro .. I am having 105 litres fish tank . ..I want to put wave maker . How many watts wave maker you will suggest for me
So been doing prime and stability but still have .5 ammonia and nitrite do i need to do a water change of just keep using daily ps fish in cycle
No water change. Continue the daily dose until you hit 0 ammonia and nitrite. Keep in mind though that .5 may be trace elements from your tap water.
Hi kev,
I started a new 4x2x2 tank a few weeks ago.
@KaveManAquatics excellent. Thats what i was thinking, but wanted to double check. Thankyou i will do that tonight
I love you videos ! Easy to learn from
Happy to hear that! Thank you bro!! 😊💪
@@KaveManAquatics okay i see thanks for answer. Yeah i Think the filter volume in the sump is the same as having 6-8 fx6 pumps or something.
@KaveManAquatics
I am doing a fish in cycle.
Watch this - ua-cam.com/video/9Cuqylaak3E/v-deo.html
Second, your source water could have ammonia.
What you gonna put in the 75 gallon? I see its empty. I feel like its been for a lil bit. Scubby #3 maybe?
It's not empty. I have Frontosa fry growing out in there currently 😁 Watch this - ua-cam.com/users/shortsfK5vR-LZ8OQ
@@KaveManAquatics how many bars are those little guys?
If I have 0 ammonia, 0 Nitrite, and 5.0 - 10ppm Nitrate but still have cloudy water? Had fish in the tank for 2 or 3 weeks now. Might have rushed the process using older filters from the previous tank.
Your tank is definitely cycled. Cloudy water can be caused by a number of things...My book on getting crystal clear water can definitely help! 😁 It's short, to the point, and covers all the causes and solutions for cloudy water. So I did fish in cycle.....
Ph is good.
Ammonia ✅️
Nitrite ✅️
Nitrate ✅️
Use seachem prime to make that ammonia safe for the fish for a short time.
