“Her mother wasn’t nearly as picky.”
That’s okay! Jasmine’s pickiness begins to show us how strong and independent her character is. She wants to be free of her prison and find happiness in the world, so it’s okay to be picky. Everyone deserves to be a little picky, but we aren’t worried about Jasmine today. This little line is the only reference to Jasmine’s Mother in all of Aladdin, but myself and a few others are still all wondering… who is Jasmine’s mother?

Riley Andersen Tiger Lily? Since Peter Pan came out in the 50s or somethingand Tiger Lily was 12-14 years old, and Pocahontas came out in the 90s, it only makes sense.

Stuff By Jess That's impossible. Pocahontas takes place in 1607 or so and Peter Pan takes place before either WOI or WOII. Timeline doesn't add up.

+Nabia Siddique-Nah, it is implied that Jasmine's mother died early on in her childhood, enough to where the Sultan was the only parent Jasmine ever knew and a big motivator for why the Sultan wanted Jasmine to be married: he just wanted someone to take care of her, love her after something might happen to him to where Jasmine wouldn't have any parents left, and the mother dying when Jasmine was very young would frighten the Sultan even more that he's not young anymore and he might not have that much time left with his only daughter, and heighten his over-protection with his only daughter, including forbidding her from going out in the outside world and the only people she ever interacted with were people the Sultan personally picked to enter the castle.
To be honest, Jasmine was always my favorite Disney Princess. Anybody else agree?

It was answered in the live action remake that Lord Tremaine loved her and doted on her and her two daughters but when he died he left them little to get by so she had to find a new husband to support her two daughters and after having lost such a high profile husband and status she began to get angry that her happiness was in jeopardy because she lost her life style and after Cinderella's father's death she began to feel as if she was not supposed to feel happiness and instead wanted only what she felt was happiness and that was causing misery to others and seeking status

Can u make a video about Cinderella's father because he wasn't that much in the movie and I don't think he is an only child, I think his brother is King Stefan cause think about it, how did he get rich? Maybe Stefan and Cinderella's dad were orphans and Aurora's mom fell in love with Stefan and they married and he became King and his brother became the Duke and he got married and had a daughter and he could give her every luxury she could ask for and when I watched the video where the Disney Princess sing in their own languages Cinderella and Aurora sings in French.
When I herad about the flower my first thought was tangled. Maybe Jasmin is distantly related to mother Gothel.

There was a movie about this where Tinkerbell explained how she found Peter. His mother was an Engish woman who had baby Peter in a stroller in the park while chatting with her friend. She was too busy chatting about Peter's future that the stroller rolled down the hill that they were on and left Peter lost and alone in the park where Tink took him to Neverland as a baby. When Peter came back to England to go to his family with Tink as a little boy, he saw his parents had a new baby amd forgot about him. So he went back and never returned. His parents' names were unknown really

Just once, I'd like to find out that the missing Disney mother was loud, surly, liked to play sports or adventuring, and maybe even had a dark past that she surpassed to be an example for her child. All these sweet, loving, warm, animal loving mothers are wonderful; but they're all that way.... There are many ways to have a good mother, even in the old days.

literally the only non-dead Disney (not including Pixar) mom I can think of is Moana's mother. but if we can include mom's of the dead variety Pocahontas's mom! she seemed to play such a huge role in the movie without even bring there, plus she was at least half 🌲 so she must have to been awesome!

You should do a Disney family tree!
Like in Descendants, Snow White is shown and many would think that she'd be in the same place as the parents but Evie and her are actually sisters, after all the Evil Queen was her step mother. So does that make the Evil Queen and Evie in a higher position? If Snow White and a kid (which we do not see) then that'd make the Evil Queen a grandmother and Evie an aunt, which the rest of the kids would not be. It'd kinda make sense because the Evil Queen is Disney's first villain.
I think that Disney needs to do Movie sequels showing the princess mothers
1.Belle Mother and having Belle Discover more about her Mother
2.Jasmine Mother and having Jasmine discover more about her mother

If anyone watched the live-action Aladdin then you know that the Sultana was originally the princess of Shirabhad. I’m pretty sure that Jafar tried to overthrow the Sultan/King of Shribhad (Jasmine’s maternal grandfather) and suffered time in jail. Jafar then tried to overthrow the Sultan if Agrabah but it didn’t work. He soon found out that the Sultana was the princess of his native kingdom and was scared so he tried and successfully killed her. Nobody noticed that it was Jafar because no one knew about Jafar’s history. Jafar doesn’t want to kill anymore or then people will get suspicious so he decides to tried to make the Sultan arrange his marriage to Jasmine.

Victor Colares..Mothers don't really show up in Disney films due To Walt. He lost his mother at a young age. So that inspired him not to have mothers so far. There was a story about it. I have noticed in a few disney movies that mothers have been present through out the movie.

A cow goes by the name Clairabelle was the name I remembered in recent Netflix cartoons I've seen within a week ago.
How did Mother Gothel know the song for the flower's magic?
Huh, it just occurred to me. In many older classic Disney films that have at least one parent alive, it's almost always the dad. Examples: Bambi's dad, Belle's, and Prince Charming's. Why is that? Otherwise the main characters have a father figure with the exception of Dumbo, who had his mom and granted Bambi had his mom up until the hunter shot her but it's still weird. Not many classic films had a mom around. *mind blown*
Not so fun fact;
The mothers of most disney princesses are deceased ( Ariel, Jasmine, Belle, Cinderella, Snowhite ) is because Walt Disney himself lost his mother and felt partly responsible for it:
"Walt Disney, in the early 1940s, when he was still living at this house, also bought a house for his mom and dad to move into. He had the studio guys come over and fix the furnace, but when his mom and dad moved in, the furnace leaked and his mother died. " -Don Hahn

my favorite princess has always been jasmine
I like Jesmine and Bell the most. They both are adventurous and want more than a prince in their lives. They dared to live their lives on their own terms. Ariel is my third choice. She stepped outside her boundary but I think that a lot to acheive for a mermaid to get settled in the human world.
actually no, if you look at the younger version he looks really similar to rapunzels dad and in Jasmine her dad got a flower ( probably to heal) Jasmine mother, just like in rapunzel and the flowers looked exactly the same, so my theory is that rapunzel is Jasmines sister.

A year after Jasmine's birth her mother went for a stroll in the market and was kidnapped. After weeks of searching, the Sultan, decided raise his daughter with the ideas she died during childbirth. In actuality she was taken and sold to a man as his wife. A year later she gave birth to a boy and her husband ran off with a group of thieves. No longer a "slave" she decides to move her and her son back to Agriba. Unfortunately, being poor and no longer looking like the queen she once was she raised her son outside the palace walls in poverty until her unfortunate death years later leaving her only son, Aladdin, orphaned.
I can only learn from the animation that her mother is sultana, and Sudan " killed" a flower to give his fiancee a present.

My favorite theory is the one from Starkid's Twisted, where jasmine's mother is sherezade, although without the whole execution threat thing
There is a spinoff musical. I forget the name of it, but it delves into why Jafar was so evil, but Jasmine's mother is heavily present in the beginning.
I never knew what happened to jasmines mother after watching this video this is amazing but also we will be seeing the full story about her mother in the live action film Aladdin in year 2019 or 2020.

I kinda think that Jasmine's mother died because maybe someone was so upset that he picked the flower that over the he just couldn't stand it anymore.
Honestly I’m surprised Jasmine didn’t have a thing with Tarzan given her fascination with animals.
This is a fascinating theory. Princess Jasmine is actually one of my favorite Disney heroines.....I respect her because she didn't just settle on any old prince just for the sake of keeping tradition and making her father happy....she wanted to marry for love and that's why she chose Aladdin and not "Prince Ali". She didn't love Prince Ali....he was a pompous, arrogant aristo-brat hiding behind a lie. Aladdin was the one who had won her heart when he was willing to sacrifice his own happiness to free the Genie and when he told her his true identity. I think this is also a way of Jasmine honoring her mother.....her mom had a happy marriage and clearly loved the Sultan and her daughter and Jasmine wanted to find that happiness too.
I think it would be interesting if you did a theory on who Peter Pan's true parents are. We have seen countless reincarnations of the classic tale of the boy who would never grow up, but other than a casual reference in the book that tells us he ran away because he overheard them discussing what he would be when he grew up, I know very little about them.

Thank you. :) I am a film critic, but I enjoy watching your theories and the theories that the SuperCarlinBrothers come up with. Many of them, like this one, inspire me to see the movies in a whole different light. The way you guys come up with these theories for movies I have been watching for 30 something years is fascinating.
It's a bright story telling tool to take a young girl, strip her of her female role model and force her to make her own may. Though with this persisting trait it would be interesting to see a Disney "Princess" who tries desperately to find a maternal figure out role model in other women or figures. It would show a psychological aspect of being abandoned, whether through death or choice.
Oh my god, I just had a realization! What if Aladdin and Jasmine were secretly related? Call me crazy, but don't you think they look really similar to each other? And plus their bold and confident behaviors are relatable too, don't you think?
