In this tutorial, I will show you my attempt at mimicking that old time 80's look in Sony Vegas Pro 10. It may not be the best out there, but I think it comes pretty close. You can also use your imagination and add more scan lines and some distortion more to the top and bottom of the video.

Definitely! There's likely more realistic techniques out there. I think the best way would be to just use an actual VCR and run the video through that.

Is there a way to effect a video into more like a TV 80s style rather then a home camera that is unlike the TV I mean the fuzziness and like how the 80s music videos were instead to look like the poor vhs tape played in the 2000s in a vcr and to look like it was filmed by a recorder in the 80s?
Using some "Sharpen" effect is also good. It creates those "borders" you see on old videos

This is still the most accurate tutorial. Others just make it a blatant vaporwave aesthetic.
Believe it or not, there is actually some High-Definition movies recorded onto VHS. These specific cssettes are called D-VHS. These tapes are recorded using binary (a series of 1s and 0s resulting in decoded data) instead of analog signals used by standard VHS, and S-VHS tapes. if anyone wants to know the specific resolution for VHS, it's usually 320x240, or 240 lines, and 400 lines for S-VHS.

Early today I was trying to emulate an 80's look, and just couldn't get it as good as here. It really looks like an old VHS camcorder video. I guess the playing around with saturation and colors is what makes it look really great, and I didn't thought of that. Thanks a lot!
In order to keep the top effect from changing when you copy/paste, i learned that you have to go to the top of the effects list and uncheck all other effects.
and thanks for the tip man,evan with these old cams you can always use a boost to make it look older and more vintage

I love this. My friend showed me this. Oh and on Vegas 9 Pro (don't know about 10), to stop the pasting to multiple lines, you just go and click on the line you want to paste to AFTER you Ctrl C. :)

For all the people who don't know where the animate button is on Sony Vegas 13, just click the little clock. It's the same thing.

hey buddy, do you think you can give us this post to where it works with Vegas 12? For some reason the time line is no updating in the animation segment with either color corrector OR color corrector secondary.
One thing missing is the head switching noise. I have yet to find a video that shows how to simulate that.

Whenever i click on "color Corrector (secondary)" the "animate" button doesn't appear. Happens the same on "color corrector" and "levels". I'm using Vegas 13.0... Can anybody help me with that?

How has this solved it? They still don't show up in the Secondary CC, only in the normal one.
Square aspect ratio leaves black side bars and I don't have the animate option on Pro 12 :(
For some reason they removed Animate for Color Corrector Secondary in later versions of Vegas (idk why). You can get the same affect with color corrector though.
Pls make a tutorial how to make a classic audio it means the sound is looks very bad (like ear rape) in sony vegas

Yes, windows in Sony Vegas have some bugs, like the one Robert was experiencing with copying and pasting key frames. Even Pro 12 still having issues with that.

4:57 DONT DRAG the slider to paste high light the row you want to copy then place the slider where you want to paste if that makes sense lol
