Вставка
- Опубліковано 1 жов 2024
- THE TRUFFLE HUNTERS follows a handful of men, seventy to eighty years young, in Piedmont, Italy, on the search for the elusive Alba truffle. They’re guided by a secret culture passed down through generations, as well as by the noses of their cherished and expertly trained dogs. The documentary subtly explores the devastating effects of climate change and deforestation on an age-old tradition through a visually stunning narrative that celebrates life and exalts the human spirit.

k who tf is downvoting this, come fight me in my home town of rural Italy
Not everyone likes to eat dirt and fungus.. grow up !
@@markilluminas458 not everyone judges a documentary by whether they would eat a truffle. Grow up and learn something.
We will send our brother in law from Chiavari but now in London to rob you of your truffles, please advise address and whether you can pick up some more Kiwi robbers from Milan airport :)
I remember my childhood in Italy and my grandfather's dog, Lilina, a truffle dog, leaving early in the morning to go truffle hunting in the fall. We had truffles everyday, on pasta, on scrambled eggs. Took for granted, now I dream about truffles.
Lovely memories
What do truffles taste like? It's not in my budget to find out for myself. ;)
What a nice memory - Ella
I imagine these precious memories in your mind👏👏👏❤️
A potem się obudziłaś i materac był mokry.
Gorgeous film, each frame is an abstract painting moving through the woods. The relationship between the men and their dogs, and nature, their life style so undisturbed and connected in nature captures a timelessness that then slices open into the transaction of the market place, all the way to the high end 'haute' trading market for their prize truffles. Quite an intimate film. Listening to the film makers after the viewing at this year's NYFF58 brought a depth into the movie in their sharing that was quite obvious in the viewing.
can't wait to watch it for all these reasons

Totally agree with you. I saw it in the theatre yesterday - after the first minutes I had a genuine smile until the end.
❤ Дякуємо за ваш відгук, теж подивлюся цей фільм
For anyone else wondering, the song is Offenbach’s barcarolle “Belle nuit, ô nuit d’amour”
Gabe Will THANK YOU
Thanks!
thank you!
👍🙏
Isn't that music in the film Life is Beautiful ? An italian classic. If this one is half as good it will be brilliant. Love the trailer
oh I am smiling with my soul just watching this preview ! :)
Me too! 🙏
Me too!🥰
Beautiful cinematography, but am I the only one who instead of getting a vibe for a documentary, gets a vibe for a fiction feature film?
Same!
Kevin 👀
Yup
yes hard, almost impossible, for Disney to do anything first rate; am a truffle hunter who has hunted the Barolo hills outside of Alba....its the 'everyday life' of Alba...and there truffles are as common in those border woodlands as acorns are in your backyard...but only the ripe ones, per law' signal their ripeness that the dog signals....its a wonderful thing...my pal Piercarlo..head of the Alba consortium, is younger...too bad..he's the real deal..very modest..easy to get along with..but only speak Italian!!!
Yup!
Unfortunately the elderly gentleman who sings in the video left us last year😔, it would be a great honor for him to win the Oscar for this masterpiece
He's singing in Piemontese, right? My wife's family priest would write us poetry Piemontese when we had big events... a marriage, a birth, and my FiL would then translate them into Italian for us. He was as spry as these guys in his priest's collar and Chuck T sneakers. He died a few years ago at 98. Stay young, keep moving!
Carlo? How did you find out?
I totally agree...great.
How sad. I really enjoyed his part in this extraordinary film and he was himself extraordinary! He loved his dog Bieba SO Very much! Even at the end he was filled with so much Love for life, for his dog and for his Home 💖🐶 ~
@@JohnKruse yes piemontese ☺️
That woman says my name like my grandmother would before she ‘d tell me off for something
Where can one watch online? Happy to pay to stream, but I can't find it anywhere... And there are no theaters open where I live, so seeing it in a theater is not an option - even if I wanted to (which I don't right now - not until I'm vaccinated along with everyone else!).
I wish I could watch too

It's now available on Amazon Prime to rent or to buy.
i'm the only one who saw the documentary and felt a little sad ?
The pictures are beautiful and the relationship between them and their dogs is one of the deepest and purest example of love between humans and another animal, but overall i don't see an idyllic portrait of people living in nature... it's a pleace where someone is trying to poison dogs, theese old men are living alone an hard life while wealthy traders try to make profits on them to sell a fair amount of bullshit to some rich people.
I liked it a lot for many reasons but reading the comments it seems to me that most of the people see it in a more positive perspective than me and this confuses me.
I agree entirely. I also felt sad for the same reasons
i felt similar too. maybe some of the audience watching want to blissfully ignore that perspective. you can see that the documentary was showing how these men are exploited by the traders, and there's a sort of class conflict narrative. the incredible demand for truffles and rising prices inevitably endorses a depravity in tactics used by some hunters such as poisoning dogs.
the older generation who were doing what they love and earning a living, are at increasing risk of danger and of their beloved dogs being poisoned... it's sad that a few of them are quite lonely. even the trader says he doesn't eat truffles or have any time to really enjoy them, as they say all they do is work and don't get back till at night. he doesn't have as much time to eat with his family because of work.
i watched it 2 weeks after my childhood dog died (she was 16), and it really made me cry a bit lol. it was so nice at least seeing the sweetness of the friendships between them and their wee dogs. when one of them was getting their dog blessed in mass for truffle hunting, that made me laugh lol
Gorgeous visual poetry that stretches the boundaries of what a documentary can be...
100%
This is the most beautiful thing I’ve ever seen, brpught me to tears. Thank you💞
I saw this trailer the other day at Cinemark: I had never heard of this and had absolutely no idea what it was about.
And yet I still wanted to see this.
This movie was what I needed. It's wonderful!
Italy is a place of magic, surely the best place on earth
Sorry to disillusion you..it's not
..
This looks so beautiful.
Was supposed to go truffle hunting in Tuscany last year but..... Well we know what happened
I remember this opera song from life is beautiful. That's the first time I heard it. What a beautiful song. This movie looks good too!
😃 Loved the drummer giving a concert to the nature as his special thanks for the harvestings 🙃
Wes Anderson goes Truffle hunting
It WOULD be an interesting move for Anderson to do a nonfiction film that he stylized with his composition, beats, etc, actually.
I had thought of the same thing when the frame changes from one person/profile to another.
From 0:56 to 1:10
Ha ha ha! An absolutely perfect description! I don't need to read anything else!
I thought exactly the same!
Saw this trailer, and 1 minute later added it to my Netflix queue.
omg, I can smell the truffles. Definitely watching this .
This is the best documentary I ever seen and I strongly recommend it anyone. I crave for the moment it will go streaming
Netflix has it i am reading here. And erm, other sites do too.😉
@@paulhamj6175 that’s great! Last time I checked it has been listed yet not available
Looking forward to this. The trailer is AMAZING!
Great film!! Very interesting characters beautiful images.

This feels like a Wes Anderson movie.
No it doesn't. Wes anderson didn't invent good cinematography
“CARLO”
Can't find this to watch anywhere! Where can I stream or order it? thanks
I’m convinced that the Italian man with the typewriter is really the actor Jeremy Irons in a fake nose. It’s his greatest performance.
kind of a spoiler
the part where one of the truffle hunters dog was crying about his dog dying of laced poison was so sad, and as a dog owner I could sympathize with his pain, i was in tears....
And where can we actually see the movie. F minus for Sony Pictures for marketing.
In the UK its on BBC Iplayer in a programme called, "Storyville".
Is it available to view online somewhere ?
Wait, where's Nic Cage ?
No lagotto romagnolo in this film?
In Piedmont Lagotto has arrived just in the last few years... The truffle hunters never only rely on a particular specie
how do we watch it- this looks amazing!!
delizioso :)
Amerò per sempre questo film meraviglioso
Come hai fatto a vederlo? Io ho dovuto fare 157 km da l unica programmazione era alle 11.30 di domenica 🤣
Ma ne è valsa la pena!
🌷
There's a special place in hell for people that poison dogs. This doco will break your heart 💔
De repente , algumas fases por que eu algumas coisas do Google.
Who is a good boye?
I very much do not mind authored or directed documentaries. But, every single scene and piece of dialogue in this 'doc' was a set up. It looked good, but just didn't feel right. Sorry there was something missing and that something was authenticity.
Looks delightful
What is the music over the closing credits? It is a harmonica, I believe.
@chymor if you ever find the name of the song please let me know been searching all over the place for it!
@@itsmecool6185 I have asked Ed Cortes. I'll let you know if he replies.
I think the music is Follow Me by Tindersticks.
@@chymor thank you so much.
Saw this at my library
Can anyone give some information about movie musics?
This film made me mourn a world that no longer exists
Just brilliant ⭐️

This doesn’t say documentary at all for me
Yeh, really, but who cares?
What a dumb, pointless, meaningless statement. Its a film, dummy. An artistic creation! It doesn't have to fit any kind of template or expectation for what anyone expects a documentary to be, wtf do u even mean? (Rhetorical, please don't answer that!) Have you become so conditioned by the history channel or some shite that you see a trailer for a film and the thing it makes you want to say is the meaningless comment you just left?
Get some film watching experience my friend. You wil see there are many creations on film that will supercede any expectation you can concoct in your mind.
👏👏👏👏👏🎥❤️
anyone know where I can watch for free?
Trüffell
where are the Lagotti (truffle hunting dogs)...Sony probably should have done their research
Yeah. These families who've been doing this for x generations clearly don't know what they're doing! Oltretutto, i Lagotti sono Romagnoli, non Piemontese. ;)
We don't have Lagotto in Piedmont
Looks disgusting
Looks amazing
kidda boring
