Starship EVO, by far has one of the best shipbuilding systems by a wide margin compared to many other shipbuilding games.
As of right now, the only thing that this game does better than SE is shipbuilding imo. This game's building system is superior. But then, this game is still very early in its development. As far as combat goes, I prefer SE's voxel-based damage system with no shields. Apparently this game also had a voxel-based system but dropped it a few updates ago for better performance. The developer has been doing a great job so far so I am sure it will get there in a few years.
This game has the best building period. MOST of the workshop ships are either outdated or have very imbalanced builds. Francois hasn't done his treatments of the weapons systems and a ton of them are pre-fuel or whatever. He's just BARELY got basic systems for survival in place, fuel, etc. It's still VERY rough. I think it will be about the best space building game out there if he gets it done and playable. Just as an example I made a literal dragon ship with flapping wings, the whole head and neck was a turret... Old and broken build but yeah... Amazing building system
Game been in early development for many many years already.🥲
I like SE for its light sci-fi setting
I am not fond of a lot of choices he has made. The lack of voxel based destruction among them
@RaG0dofTheSun honestly I like that fact. It helps game performance, and other games are doing vowel already.
I don't even remeber how many years ago you started this channel because of space engineers and it's somehow hearthwarming that the intro has not changed the slightest bit
I just got into this game. Definitely deserves more players. If you spread the word, it might help things along
[Some time later] ...... "And that's how I became a notorious criminal wound up here in the space prison. These handcuffs 'ere suppress my admin and creative mode powers, so I can't escape. It was all a misunderstanding, that got out of control." - Aaron
Glad you decided to showcase this. I wasn't aware of its development but it looks to have real potential.
"rotiserre combat" "we're rotating around each other" I guess that is one way to describe dogfighting. To be fair, I think even some real life combat pilots call it "turning battles" so not much better.
this is a great game I've been trying to get all my friends into it
Please do keep making more vidoes! I had no idea this game existed until I saw your video on it. I am very interested and want to support it. But am not able to cought up $15 for an early access game atm. I hope the creator keeps up the good work though!
Thankyou I will continue to cover it as long as new features are added and there good, its going to be a long road as a solo developer fingers crossed they stick it out.
This is 15.00? I might have to get it.
It's been in early access for so long now😓
The ship building is probably the best ive seen but the true gameplay is still lacking. Have high hopes for this game though, the ships people make in it are so beautiful.
I agree buildings great just everything else needs more time and direction.
This game is amazing. Only one developer. Incredible
Hello! Second comment here, just wanted to say- "there's always a bigger gun." - Unknown 😂
just got this game. I was like ehhhh. All creative sandbox right now and no survival. Ship building cant take for ever. I have high hopes for this game though. Would like to see it succeed
Flying and combat looks rough and unfluid like other space games. You have to drag your mouse all the way to the edge of the screen for it to turn and it only seems to do so in 4 directions (north, south, east and west from the centre of your screen).
Other space games you only have to move your mouse a bit off the centre and your spaceship will adjust course, the further you drag it from the centre the faster it steers and generally have more directions in turning.
I agree there is a lot need to bring the combat to an high enough standard for it to compete. I think the other issue is I have know clue on if the weapons I am firing will even follow the mouse pointer as i seem to just spray all around the target.
Tsuna (the game's dev) has mentioned in the past that he very much wants to upgrade the game's combat system, I wouldn't be surprised if ship control also gets updated
from my experience it works completely differently, dont know if hes adjusted the settings but somethings different
That's funny here in this vid You have to drag your mouse all the way to the edge of the screen for it to turn, mine works like any other mouse flight space game... Aaron changed setting?
@@Ming1975 just checked in game, he most likely has his "mouse sensitivity vehicle" set really low, i have mine around 160 (default is 100) and my ship starts turning the moment i move my mouse a little bit
I dont know if you are still in contact with Capt. Jack but I just commented on Jack's video an idea: a rematch of the Turtle and Vengeance with the shield mod and the new and upgreaded Vengeance after Colony Salvage. It would be awsome to see them fight it out after the first battle 4 years ago (not the Colony Wars finale the full Turtle vs Vengeance) Hope it happenes some day!
they have an atari sound card?
The pseudo-lock on combat looks really clunky, they should copy what Avorion does.
Hello update on my endeavor to make a controll scheme for the steam deck is going well thow LSG the mouse it working differently from mine (mine moves towards the mouse and the velocity of turning increases as i move it away from the center of the screen) and yours is moving slower this might be a bug?
Unsure don't have enough time in game to tell what's a feature and what's a bug
@@LastStandGamers most i can say is our 3hours differ from each other
The problem with no crash damage and the way the ships flies in this game you can build a big claw ship design to crash and trap them to land every shot point blank. The hit box is still buggy but as for building, this game seems more stable and better than SE but it's a long way from being playable but test playing.
As from what I can see from the controlls I think this game works better with a joystick lol
Loved the video @LastStandGamers! Can't wait for the next video man! If you do build a Starfighter in "Starship EVO", Try Building something like the Z-95 Headhunter or the ARC-170 Starfighters from "Star Wars: The Clone Wars".
Hey! great vid, would love if you could show the community side of the game, does it compare to games like SE?
thanks :D
Really to early to tell the building nice and you can really make ships look cool.
Not gonna lie, ship building seems nice, but the rest is, kinda shit.
Lots of potential here -- if he can get some help and build out a worthwhile system around the awesome ship-building tools, this could be one of the best survival space-sim around.
@@billywashere6965 True, it has a LOT of potential, but that flight control system is... Bad? Although "bad" doesn't really even begin to cover the depths of how awful it is. It's also funny how many rough and not so rough copies of Star Citizen ships I've seen in the videos about this game so far. That isn't the developers fault mind you, but it just amuses me.
@@Crankwank That's actually what lured me into this project. I stumbled upon a video of a guy showcases some player-made ships, and one of them was a Hammerhead from Star Citizen that was almost a 1:1 replica of the interior (just without all the intricate detail), and being able to nail that kind of detail for a game that has the gold standard for ship interiors right now kind of blew my mind. That was so awesome that the game affords that level of precision building, but still with its own unique art-style. The ships look so good they don't even look player-made when done right.
So yeah, when I saw how detailed you could make the ships, I was hooked. But you're right, the flight model is awful, the combat is not good at all, and the on-foot stuff needs a lot of help. The germ of a great platform is there, though. I just hope he trudges forward because I could see this becoming a surprise hit once some decent mechanics are added and the survival aspects are fleshed out.
Hello and first
I think its better to just make turrets.
Could be now to work out how to do that.....
@@LastStandGamers might be easier than what we think.
"for now it has no survival aspects [food, water etc} so you can only build ships and fight well " "it dosent have much for alpha" space engineers also dosent have them XD but its considered surviall XDDDD AND finished product..thats a bad case of dual standards LSG plus SE was 26 USD in alpha
