WONDERFUL review. I “just” ordered a 992 C2, which will be here about Sep 1st. I added, since my order, the rear axle steering, now I’m calling in The Burmester stereo. Keep up the great work, gents!
21:51 lol the left menu bar you can swipe up and down. You don't have to click it in the bottom left corner. Just swipe the menu up, same as in the panamera. Btw there are more options when you swipe
As an owner, it’s really interesting to see someone complain about the infotainment system. You can set your drive up exactly as you want it and then use the knob on the wheel to change it to the individual mode you’ve set up. I NEVER need to use the infotainment system while driving, so the angst about it is really odd.
Great Review. Because of this review, I am really considering a Cabriolet over the coupe. Although I am living in a tropical country with hot sun 350 days a year and rain 182.5 days a year. I might only be able to drop the top once awhile in the morning, evening or night. But well, same like living in a condominium with a large balcony that we are having here. You are not going to use it everyday. You probably forgot that you have one. But, when there is a day where everything lined up and you can bring a nice cold beer out there sitting and enjoying the view and breeze. You will be like...damn, I am glad that I bought the one with a balcony.
amazing video! how to get one hyped for a car haha. I have a lot of respect and love for the 911 its so pure. the only part I have some trouble with is that rear bumper. in this trim it is like it was styled by Audi. I really liked the 991.2 rear and I think they should have kept it a bit more like that car. the only thing that stands in my way of buying this is funding it ;)
I suspect the difficult access to the option button of the infotainment while driving is intentional as most cars wont let you set options while you are driving. Also, I am noticing a pattern of high end brand quirks like Porsche and Ferrari being described as forgivable while criticized as flaws in Alfa Romeo or you pick the other brand.
Burmester sound system on a 911? No way! Even if the sublime visceral Boxer 6 sound has been toned down with turbos it is still the best soundtrack at the wheel ever. Can't wait to order my manual Carrera S Coupé, hopefully before September. Cabrio may be nicer top down, looks gorgeous despite the hump in the rear for all the motors there & visually stylized thanks to the 21" wheel, but only the classic shape of the Coupé remains authentic and legendary at the end of the day ;)
LOVE, LOVE, LOVE your reviews. I just ordered a C4S Coupe, Guards Red, AW-steering, highly optioned up. Due in Kansas City Sep 1st at Porsche dealership. Your reviews helped make my decision possible! :-)
A cracking video... particularly as I have a C4S Cab ordered and is due for delivery mid-April... I am now not going to watch another clip on the 992 until mine has arrived. Keep up the good and very informative videos. Cheers
Nicely done. It was interesting to note the “camera shake” as you hit small road imperfections. I’m confident it’s simply “convertible rattle”……something ALL rag tops suffer from, irrespective of brand. It’s for this reason I could never own a convertible…….but they’re sure fun to rent !
I read something on sound equaliser adjustment in the German Instruction manual e.g. like the seat and stearing column adjustment, you can memorise sound system setup ... so when the roof is down, all you do is toggle between different setups via single button in infotainment screen..
Polar moment of inertia, lateral G force and torsional rigidity, these specifications are the what jumps to mind for me. Why is it better than my A3 rag-top with flappy paddles?
I played with the new Infotainment recently and I completely agree. Give me buttons and analog dials (especially if they are so nicely made as the new rev counter)! That would also fit their #TimelessMaschine marketing much better. These digital displays will look outdated in 3 years. Nothing timeless here. In fact, they are already way behind MBUX in my opinion.
I've talked so much shit about this interior... but now it's kinda growing on me. Still not as good as the competitors, but better than previous versions at least.
Are you seriously going to judge a car this sophisticated on a 2D 3-inch caption deformed by lens perspective? Seeing all the stuff going on downthere (engine -and stupid hybridation space according to Brian..., exhaust and depollution factory, transmission, roof compartment, etc.) they have managed to integrate it beautifully in person.
@@zenithred9731 not judging the car, its an amazing car I just don't like the hump. I can see the hump on every image and video of the car. Maybe il change my mind when I see it in person. Not everyone has to agree with u Btw :)
All those ‘missing buttons’ are directly converted into bonusses for the upper management off all those companies that are scrapping them these days. I think it’s just dirt CHEAP ! Question is how much time/generations it will take for them to get it, for us to get them back where they belong... in the right spot where it won’t kill you to change vital settings.
I partly agree...... screens and button reduction allow for manufacturers to add features (aka Tesla) over the air. At a cost, or course. However some options that have moved to a screen are just stupid. Take the HVAC controls - fan speed, temp control! Volvo XC90 springs to mind. After a volume control, HVAC are probably the most used controls in a road vehicle. Thankfully some manufacturers are sticking to physical controls. I suspect we will see a few fatal accidents - before regulations kick in and force manufacturers to re-think. You are right though, this is ALL to do with cost savings, not what the customer wants, or, for safety, needs.
Seeing it with the blacked-out lettering gives me sufficient hope for the upcoming GTS, especially since the 992's output is almost similar to the 991.2. Maybe 10 or 20 more horses will do this time?
I went with 2019 911S 2020 Is designed for fat people that can hold a slurpee cheap looking interior parts fatty seats which are very comfy but jog it off man. 2019 is so much more quality and all steel body not aluminum.
I really like the new 911 Cabriolet, there's nothing like a drop top. Although, I prefer a hard top over a soft top, I don't really like soft tops on convertibles. Hard tops look so much better. Porsche should consider making the Cabriolet with a hard top.

As usual an excellent review by Autogefühl. I like Thomas too, but it would be a wise decision if you would always use a native speaker for your English reviews, like you did this time. Both gentlemen come across as extremely competent and knowledgeable, don't take me wrong. I have a Special history with this channel, as three years ago I was sitting on the brink with the decision to buy a Boxster 718, which I did. Now I'm in the process of configuring a 911 Carrera S (992). I had almost decided on all the extras, and now this clip comes along, advocating so strongly in favour of the convertible. I don't feel so sure anymore that I'm going to take the Coupé. Main reason for the Coupé would be for me the additional space for travelling, as I'm a one-car-at-the-time person. The car has to be fit to contain two people and luggage for three weeks. It is doable in a 911 convertible, I know, but the question is: wouldn't I find it more practical in the Coupé?
@@autogefuehl Oh no, Thomas does a perfect job, but he should do it in his mother tongue. I'm Austrian, I always enjoy his reviews, but I enjoy them definitely more, when they are in German. As for the holiday-luggage-capacity /or better: usefulness, I beg to disagree. I absolutely hate that car designers hide the bass and treble controls in the screen menus... those are very important adjustments for me and I like them to be physical knobs on the dash. I cant tell you how many rental cars I get in that have the bass and treble turned up to 11 when I get in and then it takes me forever to find where they've hidden the controls.... ridiculous.
But, although the reviewer didn't know so didn't tell you, it is completely possible to custom configure the home screen so that bass and treble are always right there. I don't blame the reviewer, they never get much time to check out cars. But for sure his criticism of the infotainment controls would not apply to someone who owned the car and knew how it worked.
