My sister worked with Sylvia for several years at the beginning of her career. They are still friends. She is a wonderful person and even lovelier in person!
Had the chance to meet Sylvia at her concert at Lackland AFB in 1983. She was very personable and kind to the audience, and laughed when, after remarking that she was having a difficult time getting on the stool in her mini-dress, some guy shouted out "Take it off!" She didn't belittle him or call him out; she laughed it off. Then she stayed after the show and had a Meet-n-Greet. She was a tiny little thing dressed in a military camo outfit. But she signed everything and smiled, despite it being in the 80's in June in SA. Truly wonderful is an understatement to describe her.
I had the privilege of dancing with her about that time at small county fair, she grabbed me as I was walking by and I don't even know how to dance lol, first woman I ever danced with, then with my gf at the time, and 29 years later at my daughter's wedding lol
This song is special for me in a roundabout kind of way. I used to hear it all the time when my mom listened to country radio in the car, and I loved it. Years later when I first began working as a radio DJ, I got to play this and say, "Here's Sylvia, with 'Nobody.'" I always wanted to be the guy introducing songs on the radio, and I made sure talking up this song was on my demo. My mom has since passed on, and I eventually changed careers, but this brought back some very nice memories. Thanks for posting it!
No, Sylvia. You're clever. I love this song. It was the first for me where the title and the lyrics aren't what you think they're going to be. Timeless classic.
