What a fun movie. I've seen other Swanson movies but this is the first time I've heard her sing! Who knew she had such a lovely voice?! I wonder why she didn't do musicals?
I recently read a biography of Gloria Swanson. When she first started out she wanted to be a singer and studied voice seriously. She was a remarkable person-way ahead of her time in her views on diet and health. She was a vegetarian who also avoided sugar, referring to it as “poison”.
Interesting how our culture has changed, in some ways, in the past 91 years. In 1931, having "a past" was a shameful secret; now it can be safely assumed that your new love interest has a past- one can only hope that it is something that can be cured with antibiotics.
DEAR CCC:--- Can we acquire "THEM"? It has everything with Nimoy, giant Zanti misfits, James Arness, blood, guts, sugar, geriatric scientists and Fess Parker! WOW!
Unfortunately this movie "Them" is gatekept behind very thick iron bars... thanks to Warner Bros. Pictures. Zero chance honey... but maybe one day when CCC is big enough, we may be trusted to keep it safe?!?! One can only hope
Didn't La Swanson have an affair with JFK's daddy? I recall something like that. Maybe its not so bad remembering her for Sunset Blvd. She was stupendous, colossal, tremendous and mostly behaved rather than acted in that one. Witchy as heck! Mega Star all day long and into next January. 👍
Seen it several times. Hasn't got old yet. Swell movie Super cast. Gloria was a gas. So funny revealing the teeny bit of insanity in the family. Barbara Kent, yes! 🥰

Merv Griffin once said the big movie stars had bigger faces than normal. Compare Gloria Swanson to the woman playing her sister. Quite striking.
