We probably found the reason why the keyboard in the review sample at Linus was so squishy and flexed so much. An inlay that is supposed to support the keyboard from below was not properly assembly is seems to be entirely missing from his review unit. We will confirm this once we have the review unit back at another address (it's currently en-route, shipping). The inlay is a thick felt-like sheet that covers almost the entirety of space below the keyboards (with appropriate cutouts for screws, cables and ventilation). It closes a roughly 1 millimetre gap between the keyboard bottom plate and the upper case of the laptop. We will check if any other customers were affected by this issue. The inlay is easy to assemble by removing the keyboard, which only takes a couple of screws from the bottom. We will make a video and a small step-by-step guide. With the inlay, the keyboard is much more stable (less flexing) overall and has a better typing feel. How did this happen? The inlay was missing due to the sometimes complicated logistics required for the EU market. Where other laptops are pre-produced with keyboards in the factory, we get laptop barebones and keyboard shipped separately because we have so many required keyboard languages on the European market that we need to mix and match keyboards with the appropriate barebone laptop, of which there are many compatible models. Separating the keyboard from the barebone makes inventory management much more ... well, manageable and it reduces the time we would need to search keyboards and assemble. In this instance (new model, new process) there was a logistical issues with these fitting. They were either sent too late (in a nice box with dozens, hundreds of these inlays) or they were not associated with the laptop by our team in Germany. These fittings don't have their own part number, hence they were easy to misplace. In theory, it should belong to the barebone laptop itself, but since it is made by the keyboard vendor, things got complicated. The process will be improved and streamlined now that we spotted the issue. Long story short: a bit of a faux pas in terms of quality control but we are rectifying the situation at the moment and customers will be informed about the results ASAP. // Tom */edit:* We now have a video that shows how to remove the keyboard and add the support layer: ua-cam.com/video/5KYGKVbhVas/v-deo.html E-Mails to affected customers are going out shortly.

I'm on my 3rd gaming laptop. I've very rarely needed to play a graphically demanding game AND been far away from a power outlet. Laptops are always a compromise. I can do most of my light PC work on my phone or tablet and portable gaming on a portable gaming system. Any laptop approaching this power is really just a more convenient desktop. If you're gaming away from an outlet you're probably exposing it to extreme wear and tear (dust, pollen, heat, humidity, moisture, weather, thieves, clumsy people, etc). I had to do this in the Navy. It destroyed my first 2 gaming laptops.
WHY THE FUCK WOULD YOU GAME ON A LAPTOP WITHOUT IT BEING PLUGED IN????? That's just fucking retarded ngl. It's not literally meant to be a "laptop." Just plug it in and use it on a desk with a mouse and headset attached with the mouse on a nice steelseries mousepad and theres a good gaming setup.

Progression of computers has been slowing dramatically. Unless something radically different happens in the industry, we will be continuing this cycle of marginal improvements. You will be dead at this rate before that day comes.
The compatibility problem comes from the motherboard's manufacturer. The BIOS is not big enough to support new CPUs. (Ofc this is due to AMD's specification in the first place). Even with an 8MB ROM, this laptop shouldn't support pre-ryzen 3000, so, with luck, it will support the next gen
@@franciscocb94 This laptop has a B450 chipset, it won't support upgrades. XMG has been forced to walk back claims about Ryzen 4000 support that they made when this laptop was announced.
@@StrangerDanger0Snack as far as I understand, and I'm not an expert on this, the support it's due to short bios memory. So it's physically possible to support Ryzen 4000. @@franciscocb94 Completely agree. It could (and should) support the new generation, but AMD will need to reverse their decision about B450 before that can happen. Brad Haines for the G15 the power brick is 180W and battery is 77Wh. So to charge at a rate of 1C and still reach peak performance, it needs ~80W + enough for the rest of the pc (100W). That’s how I calculated it. Yes a PC will be higher (2.5W for keyboard, 1.25W for mouse, 300W or more from the PSU and some for the monitor)
It's only a few minutes. Run this for an hour and the 9900K should win. That said, that a laptop CPU has this kind of performance is insane engineering. Even the mid-range AMD laptop chips have desktop class performance :o

I replaced the battery in my laptop a few months ago because under normal use (youtube, browsing, etc) it would get a nice 5 hours. I figured it could play RDR2 for maybe 20 to 30 minutes, just enough time to kill. I opened the game, got into the world, took two steps and Windows put the "Your battery is about to die" message on the screen lmao
It would be nice if that 2.5" SSD/HDD slot could also fit an additional battery instead. That's enough space for another 30 Watt Hours or so.

I can't wait till' the day we look back at 16 cores like how we look back at 16MB of memory now.

AMD: Imma ruin this man's whole carreer.
Technically it's sort of a soft-lock. Obviously, I don't see any companies to support that, it may come to reverse-engenieered bios r4000 support and add to this one or stuff like that. Kinda dirty, but..
@@franciscocb94 Completely agree. It could (and should) support the new generation, but AMD will need to reverse their decision about B450 before that can happen. And while BIOS memory is definitely a hurdle, it could be overcome by motherboard manufacturers like with Zen 2. As someone who just bought a nice B450 motherboard a few weeks ago I'm very upset with AMD's decision
@@StrangerDanger0Snack I also just bought a new pc, but I decided to invest in the z570. Pcie4 and faster ram speeds were the main reason, but also future-proofness
That copper though....
On a more serious note, this laptop came out at the right time with everyone working from home.
2:09 forget that Apex 15, how the hell is that Zephyrus G14 managed to beat a desktop 9900K on Blender??? Can we compare the power draw?
Willy Yappy I bet the G15 could come pretty close. It draws perhaps up to 100W of power for non-charging purposes at peak load.
Because intel sucks.
Calm down.
*The intro really showed the thermal performance of 16 cores in a laptop*
