Vito Bratta: *plays solo*
Greg D’Angelo: *hold my beer*
The solo that Mr. Vito Bratta does in this song is simply amazing. One of the most original in the history of Rock.
The one and only
Everything Vito did was amazing! 💪
It has everything staccato pinch harmonics double stops triple stops with bluesy bends squeeze in the crap out of that guitar fretboard tapping with Incredible tone throughout with ferocity and virtuosity, all with feel as well absolute masterpiece
Vito was criminally underrated. This whole band didn't get the credit they deserved. Banging rockers like this cover, and heartbreaking ballads.
This is the definition of an absolute 80s banger. LOVE THIS COVER
Very underrated and the coolest lead guitarist! The one and only Vitto Brata.
He was like ahead of his time just like Becker on retired on has a horrible disease
Love him , fantastic player
@@miserablesingleman6101 He's good but don't ever compare him to a virtuoso like Becker.
Outstanding guitar player. Pertyy dam good. Met him a few times. Cool guy 😎. . Signed my CD 💿....
🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘
Cool name too
Vito's solo is AMAZING!!!!!
Absolutely the best version of this song. Ranks right up there with VH doing You Really Got Me. These guys were special.
Whoever said below about Vito Bratta being "criminally underrated" pretty much sums up everything! Pinch harmonics, tremolo dives and squeals, tapping, vibrato (duh). I mean, what effect did he NOT use in this song? And the head nod to EVH with the cigarette on the stock? Epic cover. Dare I say this is the best version of the song including the original (no disrespect to Golden Earring at all! Imitation is the purest form of flattery!)?
Don't forget double and triple stops so much feel and tenacity mixed together he truly is special
One of the coolest songs ever, love this version as well as Golden Earring - Both Rock!!
Vito kills it on this tune!!
Complete 🔥 Vocals Babe...🤘🖤🤘
When football season is starting up in the fall and this song starts playing
The perfect 80s video, a hair band, good looking girls, motorcycle, and a GT350 Mustang, and best of all the cops being directed to go in the opposite direction.
I concur!!!✌
Would rather a AU Ford Falcon XB GT with 351 V8 in the video. But the American Mustang 350gt will do just fine.
Best. Cover. Ever! Period.
Perfect cover. Take a great song, keep true enough to original but make it your own at same time.
I think they did a great mix of original and making it there own
I like the original very much ! Their version didn't make it totally different which is great !
M0thers eyes
BOOM.
I also love how you can hear Mike Tramp's Danish accent peeking through at times 💕
True story.
...and it stands up to time.
(But I'll be forever partial to the original. )
...and thank God for Brenda Lee's "coming on strong...." Right‽
Best redo of any hit song
So sad for Vito, was and still is one of the best Guitar players ever...
Love the drum solo 🥁
Absolutely! Greg D'Angelo is a very wicked drummer. He still tours with the Legends of Classic Rock band and Stephen Pearcy of Ratt. He's worth the ticket price by himself.
It reminds me of the great times
I was fortunate enough to see these guys live when they toured with Ozzy. Phenomenal performance. Vito was, of course, incredible. This song was amazing live. Vito truly is one of the guitar gods.
That’s the tour I saw them on as well. Awesome and when Ozzy was still Ozzy. I think vixen was there as well?
@@RS-qo1rb Yes, Ozzy was still Ozzy then. Vixen was also part of the lineup. They were also great. That was an awesome show. If you're still into Ozzy, I highly recommend you check out the Ozzy tribute band OZZ. They're the next best thing to the real deal. The singer isn't some goofy caricature of Ozzy like so many Ozzy tribute acts are. They're based in Houston. They don't tour, which sucks. They've posted many videos on UA-cam. They're awesome!
@@happyjack71 I will check it out Thanks dude. 🤛🏻So agree Vixen rocked as well.
@@RS-qo1rb Zakk is a fan of OZZ. He gave one of his guitars to the guitarist of the band. He's fighting lung cancer, so Zakk gave him the guitar as a show of support. OZZ's guitarist is incredibly talented.
Same, Ozzy and Vixen. Pine Knob.
2022, still hearing this magnificent classic, Vito in prime stats... ❤️❤️
What about now?
Vitto, Mike, James, Greg!
Greatness
When I first started to learn radar love, i was listening to the radio. Lol ❤
RADAR LOVE
"I've been drivin' all night,
My hands are wet on the wheel
There's a voice in my head
That drives my heel
And my baby calls says
She needs me here and
It's half past four
And I'm shifting gear
When she gets lonely
And the longin' gets too much
She sends a cable comin' in from above
We don't need to talk
At all we got a thing
That's called radar love
We got a wave in the air
Radar love
Radio's playin' some forgotten song
Brenda lee's comin' on strong
The road has got me hypnotized
And I'm spinning into a new sunrise
When I get lonely
And I'm sure I've had enough
She sends her comfort coming in from above
We don't need a letter at
All we got a thing that's called radar love
We got a line in the air radar
Love solo no more speed
I'm almost there gotta keep cool now,
Gotta take care last car
To pass here I go
And the line of cars goes down real slow
And the radio played some forgotten song
Brenda lee's comin' strong
And the newsman sang his same song
Oh one more radar lover gone
When I get lonely and I'm sure
I've had enough she sends her comfort
Coming in from above
We don't need a letter at all
We got a thing that's called radar love
We got a line in the sky
We got a thing that's called radar love
We got a thing that's called radar love"
I never knew they made a cover of this, and I'm delightfully surprised.
And for the 9th staight day, this is your #1 requested song of the day for dial mtv… Radar Love by White Lion …
surely I’m not the only person who remembers watching this EVERY DAY around 430 after getting home from school and finishing their homework….
Was a few years too late for this specific song but everything else checks out
Same here..still have this single on cassette. Would put it in my old Camaro first drive of the Spring after storage. Great times!
Crazy how that ended 2 years before I was born, I would have loved that.
Oh yeah Ray Cokes!
When he announced the death oh Kurt Cobain at the end of his show, I told all my mates, no internet then, nobody believed me for a while!
Roy Cakes (Roy) has inside information!😂🤘
Damn right brother and hoping that one day we would have a badass car to rip with!!!! Long live the good ol days 🤘🏴☠️🤘
Great cover. Well done, especially the guitar. Radar Love was Golden Earring's best song and this cover rocks too........
My star babies always! They take their bows! 🌟❤
What an amazing recording by a truly great band ! Outdoing the original ! Love it ! The guitar and vocals are stellar 🎶 They sure don't makem like this anymore. The recording and production is 🤯
Saw them live and Vito was perfect note for note. The original lineup kicked.
Ya they did !
Grew up listening to these guys and still admire their stuff from 80s-90s. Always thought Vito Bratta was the king of melodic rock guitar
I had the pleasure of hearing this song first hand when it came out in 1973 from the original group Golden Earring. It was a jamming hit back then and these guys did it justice. Thank you for the upload of this classic song.
Yes, both versions are different and equally awesome
1973...the year I graduated....it was a PARTY!
I was 2 years old when it came out lol
Having seen the original live, I'm sorry to say, this is better.
Vito the God of Rock Guitar.
Great Song. The guitar solo is something magnificent. 🔥🎸🔥
Vitto Bratta is amazing
@J G Stop with the errors of fact.
@J G its like figure ice skating ,,lol
The guitar sound and the fills.....phenomenal!
Vitto was one of the all time greats.
Definition of Rock Stars. Love their image
Vito is at his best in this remake of such a classic song. The coolness factor is 10+ at 2:31 when he uses his glass of beer for a pick slide!
one of the greatest covers of all time!!!!!
Easily
White Lion band and Vito Bratta guitar player itself are among my most favorite musicians ever!
Unbelievable professionals with such a powerful sound and vocal voice!
Greetings from Bulgaria, we love you much! :-)
Amazing guitar solo.
Such tasty phrasing; Vito has a gift.
Love this version ❤️
You know Vito is the man when almost all comments are about him!!!
Saw White Lion when they opened for AC/DC in 1988 at the Jacksonville Coliseum. They blew AC/DC away. First time I'd ever heard Vito Bratta. What a badass fucking guitar player he is. Thought I was listening to EVH on that stage. The whole band was tight AF and Vito was on fire. Great Show!
No offence to Mike and Vito, but Greg D'Angelo steals the show on this one. His drumming is ALWAYS top notch, he is a beast live
They're all great on this one, but I agree since the drummer rarely gets the chance to shine like this
@@dragons_redit’s all just so freaking good. The guitar lead made my soul leave my body for a while though.
Brilliant cover, one of the best rock songs ever, this band really does it justice, like the video too 👍🏻
Great version
Wild vocals with echoes
The guitar is slammin
'80s METAL. MY 1st LOVE. 🤘😎
White Lion did an awesome job covering this classic! 🤘
Golden Earring and white Lion are a perfect match
I remember this video well, summer of ‘89. I was in AIT at Ft Eustis VA. This video is the 80’s in a nutshell. 😎👍🏻
Killer song, band, video, cars, bikes, everything. It's all good!!
Masterpiece
Growing up an 80s Metal Head this is the first version of Radar Love (and the best) that I had heard! Good album too!
This Is The Moment, When Cover Is More Greatest Than The Original - Great Hardrock Driving Hymn!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!🤘🤘🤘🎸🎸🎸
There's a voice in my head that drives my heel
It's my baby callin', sayin', "I need you here"
And it's a half past four and I'm shiftin' gear!!!!
It’s rare that a cover song tops an original for me. This is top shelf, outstanding work with no disrespect to meant to Golden Earring. Vito Bratta adds so much soul to the song with his phrasings and of course that solo.
The guitar tops the original, in terms of chops. The vocals, drums and bass, not so much. The original guitar work is very good; tastefully done, moody and fits the song. Just doesn't have the fretboard gymnastics. The original has a different atmosphere. There is more space in it. It has other elements like some brass is heard, tambourine.
The best result would have been Bratta jamming with Golden Earring, I think.
@@kazkylheku1221 I think in a lot of ways it comes down to personal taste. The original was a little before my time, so perhaps there is something I can't relate to in terms of how the song was written and performed. I listen to a lot of music, including stuff that far pre-dates the Golden Earing version of Radar Love, but something about their version always seemed very vanilla and boring to me.
I grew up in the eighties and I know a lot of stuff was written and produced to excess, there was a ton of cheesy crap that came out during the era of hairbands, however. There was also a lot of real talent during that period of music and I always felt like White Lion was definitely a cut above most, they wrote some really great songs. Their cover of Radar Love is a far more high energy song than the original, in my opinion everything about it is better. Obviously Vito added a ton of feeling that the original lacked, but that drum solo in the original was just weak and that alone was vastly improved upon. Again, it really boils down to a personal preference and everyone is entitled to their opinions.
LOL😆
Awesome Song & Awesome Video!!!!!!
Awesome Band, still ❤ today and forever..
This is the best version of this song, hands down.
I agree. These guys knocked this out of the park.
I hear radio waves in my head ❤
Vetto kills this solo bro
They did it well
Surprisingly great cover, go Vito!
Vito was a bad ass guitarist
White Lion was a great lil band....I saw them back in 1985 in a dive little bar in Pasadena, Md.....they opened up for Dirty Looks....I remember thinking this guitar player sounds just like Van Halen....Great cover, and the guitar fills and solo are outstanding
Strong similarities but I think Vito was a much better lead player than Eddie...For my personal taste.
Love the great Eddie Van Halen though and may he rest peacefully.
Vito and Eddie are on the same level as players and I am a fan of both of them. But, Vito just sounds better than any does. I don't think either one of them sounds like the other.
@saldifrancesca2500 --- I got to see them at Hammerjacks back in the latter part of the 80s when I was living in MD (in Arnold/Severna Park with my brother and family while I attended night school) ... they put on a fabulous show. And I think I know of the dive you are talking about in Pasadena - wasn't it called the Sandbar at one point?
That guitar solo and the woman combination is all that mattered.
Does anyone else think that Mike Tramp is thee Hottest man on the entire planet? ❤️
I do!!!!!!!!!
the guitar playing style and technique in this song in every audible way is evh you cannot listen to this and not hear eddie everywhere
I still don't understand why Vito Bratta didn't get so much hype compared to the other rock guitarists. He's one of the coolest if not the coolest rock guitarist for me and Mike Tramp has that amazing raspy voice
He disappeared too early ...
Can't answer that but he's still bad ass guitar to me
He was an amazing talent. Clearly influenced by Eddie Van Halen, but had a style all his own. But the spotlight just isn't for everyone. I respect that.
White Lion's image was soft. That didn't have an image of that hard edge of sex, drug, and rockNroll like bands like Motley Crue did. Vito is super talented guitarist and White Lion's debut album was solid, but in a world filled with hair metal bands at the time they tried to go pretty boy instead of bad boy, a decision that cost the all the bands who made that decision in the long run. They're probably healthier for it, but it killed their staying power
@@mertcanaksut5653 He hasn't performed live in years but i guess he is playing again so will see.
Stellar guitar work
Great group vitto bratta is amazing guitarrist.
What a sweet jam.
Still rockin' it on the regular.
30 Years later....ITS better later than never!!... White Lion it's HUGE.. long live Rock N' Roll!!
Yes, too bad KISS ain't for getting blown away on that EndOfRoad terr
Vito Rules!!
Nailed it
Great song off a great album. Love this jam. Great guitar work and guitar solos. CRANK IT UP LOUD 😎
🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘
Ohhhhhhhh, if we could just stay young forever! 😊
Vitto Bratta borrows so much technique from EVH in this. All those little creative fills during Mike Tramp's pauses are really superb..adds so many little sonic details.
Greatest cover of 70s cover ever!!!!!!!!🤘🤘🤘🎸🎸🎸
Every rock n' roll guitar player from the 80's onward has borrowed so much from Eddie!
How can you not love EVH, but love Vito’s playing even a little bit more!! White Lion kept songwriting classier than the DLR VH too… which is why Eddie was always at odds with him and eventually parted ways.
Vito playing was cleaner
@@edcollins9377 yeah I don't know why people single Vito out for it so much, everyone did. Vito clearly has his own style too, he's not just a copycat.
Classic
Vitto is a criminally underrated guitar 🎸 player 👍
Maybe he shouldn't have quit playing.
And that was one of the most criminally underrated comments on UA-cam. You are so right. Luckily, in recent years I have noticed a big increase in the number of people (fans and content creators) giving Vito some real love. I still think his solo on “Wait” is one of the greatest guitar solos of all time. It was the perfect mix of melodic and insanely technical and still didn’t feel like mindless wanking that was so prevalent in the 80’s.
@@hesch-tag He didn't have a choice because he injured his wrist. I think I heard something about him making a solo album after White Lion broke up, but he couldn't do that because of his wrist.
@@alyssaedwards7556 Okay, thanks. I didn't know that. But he could have come back after the injury. His choice of course.
@@hesch-tag No problem. He also needed to take care of his parents, especially his dad who later passed away. Now he’s taking care of his mom and sister. But he recently has been playing around the house, so that’s good news.
I love this cover to pieces
Unbeatable song! Good 👍 job!
This is the reason I want a 69 GT350
Radar Love - Golden Erring
Great Cover - White Lion
Vito Bratta was / is an amazing guitarist. So under rated. Tragic they didnt get the exposure they deserved. I still listen to their music though. Great stuff.
Come back White Lion
Never heard of this band before and I have t say they are pretty good. Nice hair, gorgeous lead singer, great guitarists, fantastic drummer. Just luck.of the draw I suppose whether you get world fame or not. They certainly went all out on this video!
They were pretty famous in the 80s
killer guitar Work!!
A good cover. Golden ear ring should be impressed
@ 2:35 Vito is KILLIN' IT!🤘🥳
The Boys that molded me! Keep Kicking ass@ and Reinventing!
Just crusin.I'll buy that one!!!!!
This has got to be the best drum solo I have ever heard!
That car…we are in hot pursuit of a black GT500 1969 model. So fine.
GT350 lol
GT 350
A rare song that I love the original and remake.
All White Lion vids! Thanks Rhino!! :D
Really great cover. I need to hear more of your stuff.
Bad ass tune and vid ! Hello from the coast of North Carolina 7,7,24 !
Great song thanks for white lion
@@derekkess265 Golden Earring
Never heard this cover before. The guitarist is fantastic. Vocals aren't horrible but I still prefer the original. There's no denying that this guitar player is pretty epic.
Vito Bratta was one of the best of the Era, definitely the reason I always come back to this cover.
I'm with you, never heard this version before. The guitars and drums are better, but still like the OG.. Guess we're in the minority. Just such a classic song, maybe because I'm older.
The song is awesome. But the car man! It’s epic!!
Can't wait till🔥 appointed time By God.
White Lion come back !
