One time I found a misprinted backwards copy of “Diary of a wimpy kid: Wrecking Ball”, I was extremely happy and lucky to find that rare copy of the book. One day while reading it in 7th grade Science class, I got it taken up by my teacher and never got it back. He claimed that he gave it back to me but I know for sure he didn’t. That was the only book out of my entire collection of Wimpy Kid books that I lost and of course it was the only one I couldn’t replace…
Why didn’t you ask your parent to buy you a new copy?

I mean, Big a shot brought back Ruby Bird and the Woodley twins, so to bring back even more fleshed out characters wouldn’t be too much of a stretch

It already is aimed at teens and young adults as well as kids of all ages. However, I do agree that there should be a series where Greg is in High School by now. That would be sweet!

It’s great to see Rowley is back to the stage, he’s been gone for like a long time. The Wimpy Kid lore is starting to be pieced back together, which of all is good. It would be a wish come true if Jeff Kinney brung back old characters, for example, Chirag. I hope all of them make a return soon enough. It’s great that Jeff Kinney has kept the series and lore going for the past 18 years. This is a good generation to live in. Anyways, book 18 looks epic

I haven't read a Wimpy Kid book since 2016 maybe 17. Who been in the books if it isn't Rowley and my boy Chirag Gupta
Chirag probably graduated from middle school and rowley and Greg didn’t, which is why characters like Holly, Albert, and Chirag don’t appear anymore because Greg keeps writing in his diary so he has a GPA of 0
The books have been around for 16 years.
The reason It's 16 and not 18 is because The Last Straw & Dog Days Came Out In The Same Year.

I haven't really been reading DoaWK books because I thought they got less better like most things I know do. But now this video makes me look forward to the books and, honestly? Rowley hasn’t done a lot in the books since Wrecking Ball, where the idea of Greg moving was in the air, so this could be the breaking point for when he is officially written out of the series. It would be interesting if the new school would be located in Slacksville, a place set up in Big Shot (and they didn’t do a whole lot with it tbh), so it could set some even higher stakes. This book as some really good potential, and I am looking forward to reading it!

I read up to Old School when I was in 10th grade. But then I tapped out and started reading other stuff.
The FACT that they're FINALLY acknowledging that Greg's middle school SUCKS is a huge gamechanger for Wimpy Kid! This sounds like a plot that's used for adventure stories which doesn't usually happen in this book series, so seeing Greg trying to save his school after all the hell he's gone through over the past 16 years of going there is DEFINITELY worth a read!
To be honest Greg stated that even though he isnt the best in School the School didn't do any favor
I’m genuinely curious as to when this series will end. Don’t get me wrong, I love this book series and have been reading it since elementary school, but it’s been going for 16 YEARS at this point.

I started reading the wimpy kid series when I was in 3rd grade (when the first book came out) and have felt obligated to read each book since, so now I am a collage graduate, still reading the wimpy kid series 😂

This plot genuinely sounds fun and compelling
the creator of wimpy kid graduated from my college. recently we had this annual festival and this year he came to the school to reveal a bronze greg heffley statue. it’s about three feet tall. it currently resides in the basement of our student union which is in the center of campus. right next to a bookstore. i wish i could post a picture of it in the comments. HE LOOKS SO SLEEP DEPRIVED!!! the students lovingly call him “gregudo” since the mascot of our school is testudo. anyway, to quote a tweet about this very subject, our school had the opportunity to do the funniest thing ever and they just did by unveiling that statue! (if you wanna see a pic, just look up university of maryland greg heffley statue!) and prepare to laugh. seriously.

JUST got the book, and, mild spoiler warning here,
While Rowely going to a different school is a “contributing factor” it’s not the main reason, it’s cause rowely is going to this fancy high/tech school, and Greg is going to what I think is called slacksvile, I don’t remember the name of it, honestly only a quarter of the book, which already isn’t a lot, however, he does have the high life there, but it’s diary of the wimpy kid, I’m sure you know how that goes ;)

Diary of a wimpy kid fan here now in high school this hits hard because all throughout elementary and part of middle school i loved diary of a wimpy kid the books made reading fun. I still remember first picking up a diary of a wimpy kid book in 1st grade for reading time i hated reading but had to pick a book so i picked up diary of a wimpy kid and boy I was hooked. I proceeded to read every book in the series as my teacher had the whole collection. Since then I promised to myself i would read every single book I did until the deep end my last year of middle school. Now in high school i can’t get a hold of the diary of a wimpy kid books and i sorta forgot all about it. It is now 1 more year until i graduate, time flies, I will never forget the joy brought to me from these books. Coming home and finishing the book in 1 day, looking forward to the next book release at the book fair and checking out the diary of a wimpy kid books at the library. it was entertaining beyond belief thank you Jeff Kinney for giving me joy and entertaining books.

In most school districts there is 2-4 years of middle school (for me its three) and it doesnt quite make sense that greg has been going to middle school for 17 years with 17 books. I wish there was some explanation to why he has been in middle school for so long somewhere in the books.

I think I stopped reading the books after book 6 or so. I haven't really been keeping up at all, but it's insane that they are still going after 15+ years.
