Kubrick done the shining, Chronenberg done Dead Zone, De-palmer done Carrie and Carpenter did Christine. This is what happens when good directors make his films they make the best horror movies ever made. But saying that I love the OTT campiness of Maximum Overdrive
@@Anthony1uk And King was very high on cocaine then. Mary Lambert directed Pet Sematary and that is also very good adaptation as well. Strangely best King-adaptations are not from his horror works.
@@Anthony1uk Don't forget Rob Reiner (of all people) making Misery- arguably one of the best SK films. And yeah, I have a soft spot for Maximum Overdrive too. The perfect late night beer movie.
Seeing this movie as a young kid in the 80s freaked me out. I remember always after that being scared of seeing headlights in the night whenever I was out on foot.
The movie is damn good. Stephen King knew well how to "spice" simple human situations with some mystery and horror. The story of Christine is about a demonic car scorned by everyone, finally meeting the only person caring for her (who is a similar social outcast like her) and doing everything for him, even killing those who abused Arnie Cunningham - this is the POV of Cunningham. The story, stripped of supernatural and horror elements - is simply a last ditch bloody rampage of a severely abused/bullied (even by his own parents) teenager who turns everyone who hurt him into roadkill :)
zero the hero that comment with the spongebob avatar makes this quite possibly the most funniest comment I have ever seen on this site. Here's a cookie 🍪
Glad to see this movie etched into 80s pop culture history dont know why it got an ok rating. This was amazing. Thank you Carpenter For this anazing movie.
There is a simple reason why this movie cannot be remade: no car to be cast as Christine. Cars from 1980s and 1990s (assuming remake is not period piece) do not have as distinctive looks as 1950s cars had. And Plymouth Fury 1958 is not an old car anymore - it is antique car and antique car is not rusting in a barn.
I was expecting the MMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm
One thing I've noticed in this movie is when she kills the main bully you can literally hear him out of breath and still trying to out run her... And that she was savoring little bit of it before she killed him... Which for me was kinda of hard to actually if bad for him, though the one feel for Is Arnie Cunningham not cause he was bullied by everyone, but for what the car had turned him into...
He took a shit on her dashboard, and they pissed in her tank, I'd say well deserved, to this day it still id a lil weird he thought nobody would be pissed, ofc that's what cowards do tho
To think this was the only Stephen King film adaptation directed by John Carpenter. Imagine if more of King's books had been adapted by Carpenter.

Ironically, this was one that Carpenter only did for a paycheck after The Thing tanked at the box office.
Imagine if he did Misery?
"Hey, Cunningham! Is that you Cunningham? Hey....you ain't mad, are ya??"
VROOOOOOMMMMMMM!!!!
Shouldn't have called him Cuntingham.
+Schone23666 I hear they had to scrape him up with a shovel.
Katie Smith "Isn't that what you do with shit? Scrape it up with a shovel?" >:D
+Schone23666 "Don't get smart with me son" lol
"Little bitty pretty one"
Pure Carpenter. Probably his best score!
That and Halloween '78
And The Thing remake 1982 and Escape From N.Y.

Halloween 78
The Fog and Big Trouble
58 Plymouth Fury...one badass vehicle! Best Scene is when it chases that bully punk Buddy down in a sea of flames. Carpenter at his best.
I'm 16 but I've seen the film it was great hopfully they dont do a remake with a cgi christine
@@renz1013 They will. They always do.
Classic film score as always w/ Carpenter.
Hell yes
My favourite film score by Carpenter. It really amplified for me the suspenseful wrath of Christine.

Hell yeah. 😂
Super le son, ça remonte toute l'émotion des souvenirs de cette époque.
Avec ce film j'ai retapé à 15 ans ma mob façon Christine, magique :)
I got Christine's great granddaughter Dorothy. A 1994 Plymouth sedan with 96k miles, was all running after 4 years of sitting in the weeds

With today budgets the can make Christine from scratch.
@@zaebaniyunderground6260No matter as there is no suitable actor for Christine's role.

Christine: I'm about to end this man's hole carrier *VROOOOOOOOOMMMMM*

Basically the car got attached to the new owner and killed all the bullies one by one.... Creepy kind of overprotective love tbh.

Didn't he direct Maximum Overdrive?😂🤣🤣🤣

If you wanna make a great horror movie and you only have a 50p budget you call John Carpenter
unless it's the thing
@@brandonshadow775 still a great movie, I think they were lacking in some practical effect stuff but through no fault of their own
