This is the most idyllic, beautiful and smooth trip we’ve been on with you and SB2! Thank you as always for taking us with you! Have great weekends one and all!
Now this is what I call a wonderful day on the water, relaxing, enjoying the scenery and life. It doesn't get much better than that. Thank you Nick for taking us along.
Nick... if there's ever a day you think your work isn't important, consider this. I was laid up in bed and/or a a wheelchair in the hospital since my leg quit working on June 27th. I was in the regular hospital for 5 days, and a rehab hospital after that until this past Sunday. I'm now getting "home health" as they call it here in the U.S. to get my right leg working again... using a walker and a cane as I can. Your videos kept me going and honestly, destracted (in a very good way) while I was laid up in the hospital. Thank for for making me smile through these dark times for me. I mean that.
Not a power boat man sailing is my passion I sail a 45 year old Moody 33Mk2 1979 since new enjoy your videos unfortunately I am not sailing this year as I am being treated for Multiple Myloma cancer and medical team have banned me for this year roll on next year. My advice to anyone is go and enjoy your simple pleasures while you can as you never know what is in store.
All you can hear, lapping sea on the shore, the birds calling to one another, rustling of the wind, SB2 moving with the water. Cruising along the coast admiring the colour of the sea, the beaches, houses basking in the sunshine. Lazy hazy day as you potter around. Thanks for that Nick, hope you enjoyed your day I know I did enjoy your video.
Yep, agree with your comment on the convenience of a smaller boat. Big luxurious cruisers are beautiful and the image of that lifestyle is so tempting, but if you just want to get out on the water there is nothing better than a boat you can just hop in, turn the keys, and go. Wonderful video Nick!
Suffice to say Nick, simply splendid. What a way to spend an afternoon. Thanks, once again, for sharing your own boating time and pleasures. It’s great to see the mega expensive yacht’s that are only accessible to a small minority of the world’s population but just goes to show how enjoyable boating that’s much more attainable to the rest of us mere mortals can be. Very interesting about the headland sea state was, I believe it’s very similar around the Needles too. Keep ‘em coming, very enjoyable watching.
You remind me of the Water Rat in Wind in the Willows when you enthuse about boating, “Believe me, my young friend, there is nothing-absolutely nothing-half so much worth doing as simply messing about in boats.” Great video!
Greetings from Marco Island, Florida! I am blessed to have a 42' Boston Whaler Center Console, triple Mercury 450Rs in tow... Great boat for offshoring fishing 10-20 miles out, sticking to the mangroves around the south end of the island or just cruising the canals up in Naples... Great fishing and lots of boats to check out. In Naples, my boat is a dingy! We're year-round boaters in South Florida and it NEVER gets old.
Pottering about with boats and the water. The clanking of footsteps on the pontoon, the movement of the boat when you board. It's a happy happy place ! .. 😊 🇬🇧
Never got the hype surrounding boating until my friends forced me into it and I haven’t looked back since. There’s something about it that I can’t explain, but it’s just sublime. Nothing like a day on the boat! I’ve got a Sea Ray 510 here in America on the Chesapeake Bay and I’m on it almost every weekend of the summer! Salute from one boater to another!
Wonderful had a old Shetland Suntrip 50 horse it planed well, came out from Radcliffe farm slipway back Poole harbour through the sticks showing channel and out past Brownsea Island , days in shell bay with the family, around into swanage , can almost feel the movement of the boat thank you for the bringing back the memories and feelings of those summer days in the sun.
Lovely pottering video. Glorious coastal setting. Dartmouth looks so tempting. And Start Point reminded me of when I was a small boy in 1972 and we anchored (?) off it having chartered a boat from Salcombe with family and others who spent the afternoon scuba diving.
Brilliant video Nick. You took me on a trip down memory lane as we used to holiday around there for a number of years when our children were much younger. Start bay on a beautiful English summers day is as good as anywhere. We stayed in Beesands once, there's a lovely pub, The Cricketers arms? and also a great seafood restaurant. We then stayed for years on the outskirts of Kingsbridge. We used to drive down early and park at South Milton sands for 8am in the morning! Bigbury on Sea is also a real favourite of mine. Slapton sands and Blackpool sands looked wonderful from your boat. Happy times 😄
So, living here in the Midlands (miserably) I felt like a bit of boating this afternoon - and having watched this, I honestly feel like I've had my wish! Brilliant - so relaxing watching this
Nick calls out boats like a car guy calls out cars. What a beautiful day! A few months back I went on a vacation to Mexico and an excursion on a catamaran and absolutlely loved it, all my Aquaholic videos came to life.
Loved it, it’s so relaxing to get out on the water. I was super jealous to see you enjoying the sunshine and beautiful scenery. Thanks for sharing you’re trip out with us Nick 👍👍 🤞we will get out on our boat too this weekend, perhaps a short cruise into Windsor from Windsor Marina 👍👍
Always nice to see her appear occasionally in your videos and the appreciation of the subscribers on your channel. Thanks for sharing and have a nice sunday, Nick...
Brought back some memories for me Nick. My late father had a Westerly Griffon at Kingswear when I was a lad, 40 years ago (time flys). Would love to know if the boat is still around there, she was called Huccaby, after the Tor on Dartmoor. We regularly sailed around to Torquay and occasionally down towards Plymouth and Noss Mayo, great memories. Thankfully, the river seams to have changed very little over time. Beautiful place.
Absolutely love these kind of videos Nick - thank you. Got my permis bateau/level 2 licence a few years ago in Antibes and I'm heading down to Hyères/Toulon next week where I'm renting a 7m 140hp RIB with some friends - cannot wait! Please keep this kind of content coming!!
Well, you’ve done it again Nick! Treating me to another lovely day out pottering on Smugglers. I’m actually sat out on the patio in the shade, chilling and enjoying your video. Thanks again! Stan 😀🤓
Thank you for a bit of enjoyable relief after coming back from a funeral this lunchtime. Also thank you for turning west/ south West from Dartmouth estuary. Lovely to see the coastline from that perspective. Great Nick👍
Absolutely fantastic. I am on the South Wales coast but we don't have the coastline that you have down there on the South Coast, it really looks almost Mediterranean where you are. A different world. Absolutely love it. Thank you for sharing Nick 😊
🦘🇦🇺 Thank you Nick for such a wonderful day out on the water. Such beautiful waterways. Thank for lunch, it was beautiful. Chardonnay was just the thing. Summer days for me are spent on Sydney harbour, from Parramatta to Manly with lunch at Rushcutters Bay. All on ferries both large & small, all for $2.50. I’ll try out Lake Macquarie this year & see how that goes. 🛟🙏
As usual nick it's been an absolute pleasure accompanying you on a beautiful afternoon pottering about on Smuggler's Blues 2, in and around Dartmouth. Whilst the good weather is blessing us with it's presence we must take as much time as we can to spend time on our boats, as the good weather won't last indefinately.
Nice day for a potter 👍 Just catching up on your channel again, been busy getting a new to us boat, more like the Birchwood alongside yours, a Broom Ocean 37, an oldie but in good condition just waiting for the registration papers to clear and then we can bring her home. Read your article on the Ocean 37 and it giving a favourable review, it ticks all the boxes for us, river and canal capable and also useable on the coastal waters too.
Once I was in Dartmouth at the Royal Regatta on one of the terraces on the hillside above the village, enjoying a lobster and scallop barbeque, when suddenly the Red Arrows thundered across the scene. I will never forget that. Love your channel. Greetings from Germany
Excellent potter. The last time I was on a boat similar to yours, was off the point at Starehole Bay, August 1999, for the full solar eclipse. We didn't notice the tidal movement but it did go cold and very quiet! There was so much flash photography along the coastal paths it was amazing.

Hi Nick fab video as always. Just got back from a trip from Christchurch, straight out to the Needles, up to the Solent to Keyhaven. Funny thing happened as I was watching this; I didn't get much sleep last night and dosed off as I was watching with my headset on. I began to dream I was on the Boat with Nick and he was showing me all the things about his boat how the tides were going along and what to watch for I soon realized it was a dream when Nick said oh look over there in the water that is a sea Badger we don't want to get too close to him who know what kind of skullduggery he will get up to with us as it was swimming to us I woke up LOL thanks for the ride on your Boat Nick Cheers.
